Great Pics Doug, That trainee Buck sure is a well built, athletic rascal isn't he. I sure like the way he is put together.

My nephew came over and took Ole Holly for out first hunt last night since the surgery. Holly was so thrilled to hit the timber she seemed to want to get might deep might quick if you know what I mean. But man it was sure good to hear her tree her heart out. We made three trees but only got to look at 1 coon. But man was it nice to get out, even if I did have to stay at the truck, LOL!!

Good Hunting my friend, look forward to seeing some more pics!!!

Man Dave good to hear you got Holly out I been thinking of you and sure glad you got to hear her tree. Yeah that Buck Fever is just turned 10 months old I got all the baby fat run off him LOL and he is a TANK! I took my nice Bluspeck female Rae down to Paul Cronaers's GRNITECH SAMMY dog in Pa.to get bred, Paul always behind a good dog for years and Sammy is producing some fine dogs. I ended up bringing Buck back for the season for Paul he is a super nice pup with a lot of go! He has a ways to go but gosh he is doing all the right things I sure enjoy the big guy! Keeps me in the woods too HA I need the workout!LOL

Dave please take it slow with that knee so you don't go too fast and get sidelined again! Holly will be there but I know the feeling of wanting to hunt and cant! Sounds like Holly was happy to be out as well give her a good ole pat for me I have always loved that girl! Take care Dave great to hear you are on the mend!

More nice pix! Hellooooo Back from Bob! He is glad to hear your having a good time and hope you get some of those BIG coon treed before they get into the roads! He likes Buck's treestyle with his nails dug in(even if he's not the Biggest fan of his color....LOL...) and his neck arched back with that big mouth open! He's got a nice dawg to be treed with!

The hills rang last night but the old man(me) left the camera home!

The nights have been nice and cool, we dodged the storm and hunted Buck, Blu, Jacki and Jack. It kills Rae to have to stay home but she is due in 4 days.

Buck got a first strike on the first drop he improves every time out! Coon feeding heavy on wild grapes all the trees we treed on were covered in grapevines. Big crop this yr!

Rae is so heavy it hurts to look at her. I walk her every night around the neighborhood, putting the light in her box tonight. 63 days is Sunday I'm nervous as a first time father. Thanks for all the compliments I will have some pics and stories as the season progresses.

New Pups are here!

My Rae had her pups early! Didn't get a chance to take straw out and put carpet in. Pups all doing well so far!

Windy Hunt

Been hunting the trainees lately so hunted Bluspeck tonite just him and me. Pulled into the farmers lane to drop on the North side of Morgans woods the wind was really blowing when I got there! I figured I was there so dropped with the wind coming straight out of the South. Blu opened out in the corn way over on the South side. I could tell it was an old feeder track by the long drawn out bawls. He worked the track out almost 700 yards in the corn warmed it up and brought it back to the East and located and treed solid down in the creek. Just as I got to the tree the rain started up and wind howling so took a couple pics and headed back to the truck.

YES, I saw him on the other thread and I was thinking I HAVE to show him to Bob tomorrow...he will LOVE that head like I do!!! If he were a bluedawg I'd say he looks alot like my old Wyatt... esp. the expression... VERY NICE! I don't think I commented on the other thread...cause I was lazy! lol

Opening Night

As tradition has it we were all excited for opening night. My hunting partner Paul works nights for the Sheriffs Dept. so he got half the night off and we hunted four dogs. Paul's friend has a big farm up on Youngers rd. and said since they had been choppin corn some coon have been coming up from the East woods and getting into the bunker. We had never hunted the area so thought we would give it a try despite the warm windy conditions. Dogs struck off the leash walking in. Paul had his 7 yr old Mainstreet Jacki dog and a pup off Jackie and my Bluspeck he calls Two eyed Jack. I was hunting my Bluspeck and Mike Casselbury's big Hutch pup that is off of the Rat Poison dog.
We cut all four dogs once they winded and took a track down thru a thick swampy bog area just full of multiflora rose. Coon circled back and all four dogs come treed in a big maple full of vines and surrounded by that darn thorny rose! Coon was up top, we tied the two older dogs back and let the young Jack and Hutch dogs tree and knocked the big boar coon out. Jack got a good cut on his nose nothing bad before the two young dogs dispatched him.

Hutch the redtick and Jack the blk and white pup treeing in the multiflora rose:

Cut again dogs treed up further in a big ash with grapevines everywhere coon was not there. Third cut ended up in the woods on a big home tree. 4rth drop was a nice long run and ended in a big hemlock, try as we might couldn't get coon to look!

Hutch and Jack:

We decided to run up to Camp Weona and cut by the pond. Walking across the levee the dogs struck hot and away they went over the hill, run went over 500 yrds then circled back down into the swamp full of beaver dams. Jacki, Hutch and Jack continued down the creek and Bluspeck cut across the valley up over the ridge and treed 750 yrd up in the hardwoods. I couldn't hear him but tree switch went off. We could see lightning and hear the thunder the wind picked up fast so Paul caught up Jacki and Jack I grabbed Hutch. Paul headed for the truck and I headed off towards Bluspeck. I couldn't hear him in the wind till I got about 350 yrds from him he was treeing hard and fast. Hutch heard him too so I cut him to go to Blu and heard him tree.
Lightning was flashing all around me wind whipping and rain and hail falling. I spotted eyes just once in the top of the big hemlock and fired and heard that familiar plunk. It was so windy never heard the coon hit the ground, nice big boar. Dogs wooled him good I grabbed dogs and headed for the long walk back to the truck soaked to the skin.

Bluspeck and Hutch treed in a lightning rainstorm:

Got home and weighed coon just a bit over 22 lbs
