Like ever where its cold here. -14 Mon. -2 Tue 5 this am Dogs are doing good. They are snuggled up in their boxes inside the barn. They don't seam to mind to much. Wish I could say the same. We had high winds and snow. Lots of big drifts. Its going to get in high 40s and rain here Sat. With the rain and melting snow my high ground looks good. stay warm and take care Dave

Snow is melting. Its going to rain her all day and all night. temps in 40s. going to try to hunt tonight. Chief has a new girlfriend coming to see him today. Ill post name of owner and pedigree of female later. Thanks Dave

I bred my female Autumn to chief today. Autumn is a first strike first tree dog she just doesn't have the voice to be in the hunts. This dog seen two caged coon on her dog house and I let one go to her and she started running and treeing. Smokey is number 6 on the reproducers list and Katie is number 5 on the reproducers list. I live in Alleghany County NY. Pups will be $200 or trades. If interested call Jim Wilson 5852979078.

Chief

I didn't hunt last night. Hard rain that turned to sleet, and 30+ mile an hour winds. I took a long ride on the 4 wheeler during the day, I didn't see any coon tracks in the snow. With two warmer days in a row the have to be moving tonight. ill see what the weatherman brings tonight.

I hunted my male dog called Streek last night. Treed 2 hemlocks and a grinner. Streek trees a lot like Chief, and has an excellent mouth. Streeks grandfather on the top side is Gr nite Little John and on the bottom side is GR nite Frog Creek Whitey.

Cold and windy is the word up here. We received about 3 inches of snow Sun, but had 40 to 50 mile an hour winds with it. Back to the deep freeze this week below 0 at night and single digits during the day. Sure would like to see a long warm up. Hope all is well with you. take care Dave

Josie and Chief pups

I've had them her for about 2 weeks now and they're acting better every day. Wormed them again and put them on full feed and splitting a can a day. They're starting to look a little on the fat side but with this winter we've been having they'll need it
My grandson has been playing with them after school and has helped name them Roxie and Chief. Let them have a hide the other day to play with they had a ball with it . They won't forget that smell ! Thanks Dave

My wife and I made the trip to Fort Knox KY this week. Our son arrived home from Afghanistan on Monday eve. at 10:30 pm. its Great to have back in the good old USA. The good people of KY. wanted to know why we brought the cold weather with us. Like everywhere cold is the word here. The next 10 days -0 at night single digits and windy during the day. Not much of a coon hunting forecast. stay warm and take care.

I hope to get a chance to hunt this week. We still have a lot of snow. It rained and snowed yesterday, and they are calling for the same today. If it melts the snow down a little, Ill try to get myself and the hounds some time in the woods. Iam sure the bores will be starting to rut soon.

hey dave glad to hear your son is back!!! wont be long you will be hunting again.winter cant last forever,can it?? we have been fortunate that we could hunt as much as we have here.Sounds like Tuesday will shut us down if we get theyre forecast.lonesome is just plain ole wore down from a year of hard hunting.But I enjoyed most every step of the way,notice I said most lol.we oughta start seeing the chief pups out here in the hunts soon,will be nice to see all your hard work come together!!! I will be rooting for ya!!take care and good hunting

Chief has a good mouth. On track Chief has a real nice bawl on a cold or medium tracks . Chief, will chop on hot tracks. I feel this is because he runs a hot track with his head up, taking the scent out of the air. on a colder track he will have his nose to the ground. On tree he is a hard chop mouth tree dog, Sounds like a loud mouth walker dog on tree. Chief hunts on the run, Breaks hard, covers a lot of ground fast, but will cover a woods thoroughly. Chief will use the wind and get you some layups. When you are hunting smaller patches, if he opens and takes the track out too a field he will go quite until he hits the timber again or a tree. When I first got him, you pretty much had to pull him off a tree some were. With the work of the shocker and tone button, I have a good handle on him. I can call him in anytime. It hasn't hurt his hunting style at all. Chief will still hunt as hard, and go as deep as he needs to go too get treeded The only difference is when I want to go home we go home. Chief is far from perfect, but is a real nice hound. The fact that he is still her, and that he will stay in my kennel till the end of his life says a lot.

How you doing John? I haven't been on here much lately. I don't have much going on with hunting hounds. We are pretty much weather locked up her right know. Lots of snow and very cold. When I went to work wed truck thermometer said -19. Iam getting good reports on pups out of Chief. I know of 2 that are ready for the hunts. Been trying to buy them, But they are owned by pleasure hunters and they wont sell them. Chief has over 100 pups on the ground. Most of his pups are under a year old. Only time will tell how he is going to reproduce. If he dose as well as his Sire and Dam it sure would be nice. Take care Dave
