Well I've been inviting Ken to go huntin for about 3 months and he finally felt sorry enough for me to tag along. 😀

So, after a couple drops and many miles in the big woods, on a near full moon, Grizz got split well over a mile with a big ole legitimate den. I had to first go to my dogs who were 1 mile and pushing the other way taking a track further and deeper into no mans land. I made the decision to tone mine back, I hate that but I was looking at a 2+hour round trip walking otherwise and don't like a dog to be treed that long if I can help it. With all that, Grizz still had to stay treed for over an hour and never budged.

All the steps and miles in big mountain woods are difficult, but still worth it when you expect a dog to have all the right tools. I like independence, not jealous independence, just strong confidence in a hound to do their own thing and Grizz will show he has it when it's necessary.

Some video of Grizz on the den:

Ken, how did the other dogs in Buck's litter turn out. Are any of them titled or is he one of a kind?

Posted by Hillbillyreds on 10-16-2016 03:10 AM:

He is one of a kind, but she had 2 more out of that Litter that is doing good also an another litter from a different male that are in Kentucky that are real coon dogs:
