Hey Tom,
Our pup (Rebel) that we got from you out of Yank and Angel is really coming along! He is out every night that we go and he is not afraid to be loose and out on his own. He has been nailed a couple times by a coon, so he has the hate for the coon now. All 3 dogs were on leads the other night and the pup (Rebel) picked up the trail before the other dogs struck. Not bad for a 6 month old pup, with a Nite Champion along.
Hey Pastor Mike,
The pup we got from you out of Rabble and your dog (Pigeon), is now 4 years old, his name is Red, has really come on this year! The problem with his delay was my training. We hunt him with a Nite Champion and he smokes him in the woods now! He is silent on track and long bawls on the tree. He will start going to hunts now since we figured him out. He is also a well mannered dog and good with our pup named Rebel that we got from Tom.
Troy
Troy,
that's cool. Put him in there and see what happens. the rabble/pigeon cross turned out to be a pretty good one, two grand nites and 1 nite ch. so far with one or two more that still may finish in the hunts. I'm happy for you and your boy. Sounds like your yank/angel pup is doing great and is going to make some noise in the future, it doesn't get any better than that. best of luck to you guys.
mike

HOUND DOGS!
Those are some HOUND DOGS Buck...they got the look and are way too serious looking already for their age. I think that's what they are talking about when they talk about a Redbone's expression...that's what they're supposed to look like.
Yes, I guess I can see some resemblance between that pup and Shaker but they all remind me way more of Spook than anything else. Very houndy, serious "worried" expression...just like they should be. It will be real interesting to see those pups grow up.

I would have a serious worried look too if Buck was staring me in the face.
yank pup in nc
Tom,
puppy is starting in the right direction. Also the above pic of that rut Buck has I am getting her next week. Big dreams for the both of the two pups down the road.
BEST PICTURE EVER OF HAZE
Tom,
Richard Lambert came up last night for a hunt. Eric Bond took us hunting and I got the best picture of Haze. Talk to you later,

Hunt
You'd best keep that picture saved somewhere Buck...it's a rare event to be able to actually catch him in the picture at all...at least when we had him it was...I'd go to one side to get a good one...he'd go to the other side.
It sounds like it was a pretty cool night to be out and about but I guess you can at least still see the ground without being covered in a foot and a half of snow...eh?
Hey Browntown's Red...that cross with Yank and Angel has put some good ones on the ground from what I'm hearing back early on.
I've still got one here from the Yank and Val cross that I'm messing with a little bit...he's ugly as a box of rocks but is big and tall and has a real big mouth and hates a coon so I guess I'll keep messing with him a little bit...it's kind of funny how they get a little more handsome when they're slobbering over a coon... I always figure that if I feed them this long, I can feed them a bit longer as long as they don't show me any holes that will need to be patched before they can function. I like the intensity and the early hate for a coon...that gives them a good base to work from and keeps me interested. If we get a warm spell, we'll mess with them a little bit with the coon but it will be in deep snow from here on out.
If we don't get a major warm up so the snow melts or settles, it's pretty much done for the season in our neck of the woods. Hopefully we'll get a good, long January thaw and we can make a few tracks in the snow just to keep these young dogs thinking in the right direction.
Mr. Woofter is thinking he'd like this Angel pup and I'm thinking this Angel pup is "special"...stay tuned...maybe for the next big thing...It's a good thing, I think it's a good match and if he hadn't spoke up...when he did awhile back, this pup would not be leaving T-Top.

val or angel
that pup remenber I got is off angel not val.
thanks
robbie
Angel pup
That's right...I have a heck of a time with these crosses after awhile...sorry about that. I corrected the post above. It doesn't matter though, the Yank and Angel cross is also showing very good including the male that I kept back, the one that is going to end up with Mr. Woofter in the not too distant future. I like pups with good sense and who don't mind getting after a coon at an early age and it appears that those are traits that Yank is going to throw into his pups just like Rock, Rat and Rabble Rouser did before him.
I am going to make that cross again as soon as Angel comes in and the same with Val, there is no reason not to make a cross that works.
Thanks for setting me straight...you're about the third one that had to do that over the last few weeks but...I appreciate it.

who really cares
it all goes back to good breeding.
thanks
Great Picture Buck
That is sure a nice picture of Haze and Hernie Buck. Tom I am looking forward to getting the Angel pup down here. If Shadow would ever come in and the weather was a little right Pastor Mike or myself would be coming that way. Thanks for always being there to help when I need something Tom. Should get my new GPS tracker today or tomorrow. Looking to play with it. Dave
down the road
will you be putting Moose and Val togather for a litter?
Moose and Val
Possibly but I have a different cross in mind for the first time around. We have a very nice female called Leinie and she has a lot of the same common characteristics as Moose as far as overall conformation and mouth. She has a very good nose and good sense and has proven at least once that she can reproduce.
The Moose and Leinie cross will be a double Rabble Rouser cross and put old Rat in the mix 3 times along with Raven twice.
The characteristics I'm looking for are in both these dogs and both are from a close line breeding program so I will expect very good results. If Moose shows that he can reproduce when matched like this, then we will give him his chances with outcross females like Val at some point down the road but...we're looking for Rabble Rouser females first.
I hate to share time with studs but our goal is to produce top hounds for folks and we'll put the right dogs together however it works out, even if we have two of them and we have to alternate them. It will be a good situation to be in to have two studs that can do the job but we have to invest some time and work into the first crosses that we attempt with Moose before we can honestly tell anyone that he has what it takes.
Thanks for asking but at least in the near future, we will put Yank on Val again and also on Angel again.

We have a Rabble Rouser female that we wount to breed to Moose IN 2010 OR 2011. We need to get her granded first.

Cherry
Tom took Cherry out last night and laid a couple nice coon to rest. They were in the grape vines on both trees an I was shooting them to move them so they wouldn't stick in the trees and one of them jump and him and the little red Bullet really went at it. She has plenty of GRIT. Dave
Buck, you had better make that cross in 2010. In 2011 T-Top Dark Timber Tom Tom or T-Top Dark Timber Rudolph will be ready for their Aunt!
Tom, spent the week at Mark's and we got some dogs under some lions. Treed four in three days. Only one hit the dirt and he weighed 172 pounds. Jeff should have some good stories and memories. The T-top stuff is still getting it done in the wild west. Take care.

Wild west
Hey Kevin...it's good to hear from you. I have been thinking about you guys and wondering how the lion hunting has been going. I know it was brutally cold at the start and with no fresh snow it has to be hard to sort out the good from the bad tracks.
It sounds like it picked up real fast and I'll bet Jeff was enjoying the time of his life based on what you were able to get done over the last several days.
I'll look forward to keeping up with you guys over the rest of the winter and continued good luck finding good tracks.

Here's a picture of that tom. The dogs in the picture are Nt.Ch.Gr.Ch.'PR' MT Red's Bobcat Bustin Billy and Ch.'PR' MT Red's Coon Slammin Sage. Mark also had Boomer, Shaker, and Lilly on this cat. It was a nasty walk to get to them. They did a nice job and were treed all day.

Hey Buck, it's probably the hardest hunting there is around here but it's a blast. There have been times when I honestly thought that I might die in the woods doing this. I guess there are a lot worse ways and places to go out. It's the most addicting thing I've ever done. I just talked to Mark and he said they killed one today that he thinks is bigger than this one so watch for those pictures soon. Shaker is the only one out here out of Rabble but they are all closely related.
