Hunt

Had a good hunt last night, got beat by a nice hound. It was her night to win. I don't mind loosing to a dog, I don't like loosing to a HANDLER. All of the dogs were independent and did not want to pack very well, no me-too-ing on this cast, we had several split trees and never had all dogs treed on the same tree. Two of the dogs in the cast had 4 wins each and the other had 3, it was more like a Gr Nt Cast.........Tim

pup

Troy Young stopped by this morning on his way home from squirrel hunting. He had his John II pup and his B & D Crook pup (both pups out of Johnny Yoder's Kit female) , the Crook pup is about 10 mos old and the John II pup is 4 mos old. Troy said that it was his John II pups first time out, the pups made seven trees had some squirrels and a house cat. Troy said that the John II pup just wrapped his legs around the trees and let it go, he trees hard and loud. Troy said that he would not take $1500.00 for him after he seen him get on the wood, a real Natural. His Crook female is really looking good and is a whale of a tree dog........Tim

Congrats Tim. Had to do the halloween thing with the kids last night. Did they have a good turn out last night? Well, me and jade will probably see you and Ruby down in Cole Camp next weekend. (as long as I get her problem taken care of. two weekends in a row. Lets just say I really lost it Friday night!!)

Later Anthony

Hunt

Anthony,
They did not have a very big turn out, Ruby and Zip hunted against each other, had a good cast, even treed some coon without a Walker dog along to show them the way.

I am leaving today for West Virginia to visit with the wifes family. I am planning on taking a dog with me, there is a hunt close to where we are going, so if the mtns don't look to bad I may hunt there. I am not going to take Ruby because she is going to have pups and I don't think the long trip would be good for her. See ya when I get back, if you don't finish your's at Coal Camp..........Tim

Congrats on finishing Zip

Good luck in WV, talk to you when you get back. Kansas has a closed season now till Nov. 18th and I have a game biologist and a game warden that lives within 2 miles of me, so I will have to get real creative inorder to keep the pups in the woods. Maybe I can let them run loose and go look for them after dark....

Roy,
That would be a good way to hunt here if you were here with me and go back up the mtn and get the truck........Tim

Hunt

Stopped by and went hunting with Richard Green on my way to West Virginia. Richard has a young female, out of my Cleo female, that is a real tree dog. I plan on going back down and hunting with her again in a couple weeks........Tim

Hunt

Suppose to go hunting with Rockybottonblues tonight. If I survive the hunt in the mtns I will let you know how it went. The only dog I brought with me was Cleo, she is a little easier to handle. There is no way that I would turn Zip loose in this country.........Tim

Posted by rockybottomblue on 11-05-2009 03:08 PM:

Tim some people look down on what I call a close to medium hunting hound, but let them come and hunt with me for a week and I'll change their minds. In some of these hollers a deep deep dog can take you places you dont want to be hahaha. See you this evening Philip

Posted by Mad-Dog on 11-05-2009 03:20 PM:

Hunt

Philip,
My Zip dog has taken me places I didn't want to go back home
in flat country You don't want to turn him loose if the coon aren't moving because you have to go find him treed SOMEWHERE....Tim

Posted by rockybottomblue on 11-05-2009 04:10 PM:

Its good in the hunts and its ok on the weekends, but through the week it can make you old quick, and get you fired.lol

Posted by Mad-Dog on 11-05-2009 06:45 PM:

The ole Zip dog is NOT a pleasure hound, but he is definately a coon dog.......Tim

Hunt

Had a good hunt in the West Virginia mtns last night with Philip Farrish and Stone. Seen some real good dog work, ole Stone is a "treedog" with an outstanding bluetick mouth.

Scotty came over the mtn to hunt with us, said that he could hear the dogs really blowing the top out of a tree. It did sound good echoing all over the mtns, it just wasn't much fun getting to them.

Well now I can say that I have hunted in the West Virginia mtns. It is something that I would not want to do on a regular basis, but I survived. I will say that I prefer the flat land of west central MO.

If you guys are ever up my way stop by and I will take you hunting in my kind of country, you may want to move this way......Thanks again.....keep in touch......and keep hunting those blues.......Tim

Posted by rockybottomblue on 11-06-2009 02:14 PM:

Thanks for coming. Wish we could of had a little better hunt, but at least you got to see Stone in the timber and Im sure he was glad to get out of the lot. Super nice talking to you and your wife. Any time your in feel free to stop in and go for a hunt. On the weekends I can take us about a hour north and I have alot better hunting, its just hard to get up there and hunt and still get to work in the mourning. Again nice meeting you. Philip

Gentlemen - Although I'm fairly new to the sport, I'm not new to being around good hounds. I love to hear em work! Thanks for letting me tag along as I try to see what coonhunting is all about. Can't wait til I have one of my own. Scotty

Posted by Mad-Dog on 11-07-2009 06:15 AM:

Philip and Scotty,
I am sure that I will be back your way and we will do it again. Maybe the next time they won't go over the Mtn.......Tim

Trip

I decided not to hunt in the Princeton ,West Virginia hunt Fri night. Thursday night was enough mtns for me.Had a good hunt ,just my old leggs just can't handle those steep grades.

Made it home late last night and plan on hunting at Cole Camp, MO. tonight, there are plenty of hills but no mtns. See you there.......Tim

Hunt

Hunted at Cole Camp hunt last night, had a good hunt came up a little short. Not me , Cleo did , the big end on 2 blanks and it was all over. She had first and first on one coon and second and second on another, but the blanks ended it early for me.......Tim
