Made one drop last night

Charlie Wyatt hunted his Charlie female and I hunted Maggie. Well after a great long cornfield race they split treed about 30 yards apart and both had their coon. We called it a night.

Maggie's foot is swollen

I checked it for thorns because last tree she was on had thorn bushes all around it. Looks like she is out for a bit.

Took Tree Dragon out for a solo

I cut him loose and he was gone. No playing no bs. He got in 700 yards and got struck in and worked a track and pushed till .65 then slammed treed. I got there and he had two big coon and a kitten. I let him tree a while and patted him up and went home. I couldn't ask for him to do any better than that. Dragon is turning into a nice one. I can't wait to put a coon season on him and what his potential could be. He has looks, mouth, drive and is accurate and a very nice treedog. Time will tell he is 16 months old now.

Took Ole Magic for a spin last night

Hunted with Cole Johnson and some young females he is working. Magic hasn't been out of the pen since January. He managed to get in 778 yards and get wooded with 3 or 4 Ricky's looking at us. He split again across a cornfield on a good track which we didn't find the meat but he sure could have been in that mess. Next drop he opened once and got the heck out of there which may have been a slick tail because he skipped out and down the road he went. We had to gather the road monster up and sent him back in but he and the young dogs couldn't get much done. They banged here and there on a tree and he was check trees alone the ditch trying to find a layup. We called it a night. Great hunting land over at Cole's I will have to return for that flat land hunting.

Ole Magic hasn't been out since January coon season he was happy to be out and doing what he loves.

Ole Magic is here for your inspection. I like and he is good natured houndy hound. He is loosing some volume but he can still get it done. Loves to split tree and stays where he is treed no matter what the other dogs are doing. I've been having this blood since 94 and I like it. Old Uchtman breeding. Just look at his pedigree. I think he can help some of the tree happy hounds and put some accuracy back in them as well as hunt.

Hunted last night

It was one of those nights that you just rather forget. So I'm heading out again tonight to make me remember good things.

It was really warm. Maggie just didn't look good in my opinion. She was so hot.

Hitting the woods tonight

Know matter what. It's been hot but I have to get Maggie ready for the 18th and 19th. Also might as well turn Tree Dragon along with her for a few drops. Looks like I may be hunting alone. Oh well. I do my best when I'm by myself.

Well I hunted Maggie solo last night. First drop she got in and treed at 475 yards and she drove the track in with a one bark locate. It was a huge tree running into many other and I couldn't find the coon. I know she had him.
Second drop she went in 800 yards and didn't make a peep. She came out so I loaded her up and made a third drop.
She struck in at 300 yards and worked her tail off but finally made a tree at 689 yards and had a big one.
In the meantime while I was listening to her work the track. I went up on a bridge and there a mother and two kittens where working the water for frogs and crawdads.
It was a decent night.

Hunted Tree Dragon

I went hunting with some new guys with Walkers Jim Coffin and his other buddy. All three dogs did good work and treed hard together. We went three for three and called it a night. I tell you whatt Dragon looked good stretched out on that tree. He was treed every breath and all the dogs where up tight treedogs.
I will hunt Maggie the remainder of the week into next week getting ready for the semi finals in Iowa.

Maggie and I hunted

We had a decent hunt except when she went up the bluff and I mean a bluff and of course she treed on the peak of it. She had the meat but by the time I got up there I was done.
Earlier she made a quick track and tree with two up the bush.
I will go again tonight somewhere.

Elmo those bluffs are ruff to deal with I hate them. I dought it bothered Maggie a bit. She just sit there thinking come on Elmo I got him haha.

Maggie worked a good track about 900 yards. She finally got treed and had a coon. I saw three other coons sitting up in trees on the opposite side of where she was. I guess she is ready if she will ever be for the semi finals this weekend. Time will tell.
