Mike, I'll definately think about it. For now I'm going to hunt her and try to put a Nt.Ch. title in front of her name and maybe more. I put her in her first hunt in Oregon a few weeks ago. We had a dead cast, hopefully the next hunt I put her in goes a little better. I'd sure like to see Haze in the woods. How are his pups turning out? I know what you mean about getting nice females under good young dogs. They can't prove themselves without someone giving them a chance. My male is a nice dog and throwing nice pups in the couple litters he has sired but I couldn't pay someone to breed to him. Everyone says it's the location but who knows. If a guy wants something he gets it. I'm not scared to spend some money and buy a pup across the country if it's something I want. We have some pretty tough hunting out here and it takes a good dog to consistantly catch game. Not running down any man or dogs but I'd like to see all these high powered dogs that are advertised come out here in the dead of winter and have to trail a day old bobcat track in the rock and deadfall without deep snow in the cold for miles and then be able to locate it and stayed treed all day until the hunter gets there. The real top dogs would do just fine but a lot of the advertised dogs wouldn't live up to the hype. A border collie can tree a lot of coons in the right conditions but I like a hound that can do it when the conditions aren't right. I'll likely be at American Days and if you're going to be there I'd like to see Haze and possibly drop him and see what he's all about. Take care - Kevin

Pastor Mike
so you finally got the growth at the end of his chain removed...oh wait a minute that was Buck, sorry couldn't resist
David
Ribeyes??? Dr. Laster, I cut myself last night while out hunting. Can I come up and stay in your basement for a couple of days until I recuperate? Pastor Mike goes up those mountains like a surefooted mule. Being long legged does not help when you start going up. Having short legs just means that you have a lower gear and everyone knows that you downshift before you start going up an incline. Kevin, PM jguilliams and ask him about how those Haze pups are doing.
Richard, I'll have to do that. I read this whole thread and it sounds like there are a few getting it done. Mark has one at his house and a guy I sold a pup to in Canada had one for a little while. Those are the only two that I know anything about. Haze sure is bred nice.

On the lighter note........these short legs can really get going up a mountain if they need to......at least faster than buck... [/B][/QUOTE]

I won't be at American Days.....never get to go because I always will have kids from our youth ministry graduating the same weekend. I have two graduations on June 3rd this year, one at 5pm and the other starts at 8pm. I have walked with many of them through more crap than you could imagine so the last thing I would do is miss them walking the stage for graduation.
Haze is just a crap eater Kevin who went from registered to Grand in about 18 or so hunts. Haze wouldn't do good on bobcats.....he just won't run them but I want mine just running coon...., but he's not a high profile stud either.....just a dog who trees coon on a consistent basis. He hunts medium......about 800 yards out is usually the furthest....unless on a track. And that is plenty far enough around here. He's straight......nothing else to add to that. A 3rd or 4th strike dog but typically a first or second tree dog. Likes a running track, not so much a very cold track. Will split tree and will hold pressure.......but normally splits when hunted with strange dogs. Nice mouth, but not overpowering.....has produced mouths alot better than his own. Bawl on track, chop on tree with an occasional bawl if track was colder.
We had a high profile stud.....well....he's popular now anyway and rightfully so.....come to Virginia one time to hunt with us. I know this dog was a good dog because I had talked to a previous owner about him. I never saw him under a coon while I hunted with him. Saw him under 2 slicks and watched him run up and down the road while my two dogs cold trailed and ended up on the mountain at over 900 yards treed on a den. It happens. All dogs get accustomed to where they are hunted....at least in my opinion and sometimes it's tough on them when everything changes so I won't judge them completely on one night....people who do that are idiots...or they believe their own press....plain and simple. If I was to say who that stud was....I would be hated by a BUNCH of people on here...
As far as Haze pups......there have been good ones.....i'm sure bad ones......mediocre ones and then some that were never given a chance.....of course about 75% of them are under 15 months of age so it's hard to judge them just yet. Frog is doing nicely and has been treeing coons by herself for quite some time now.....in some pretty rough conditions for around here. We also lost a real nice one that had a 2nd on her and she was just a pup when she got the win. There will be more good ones begin to pop up within the next year or so. I really don't care about when a pup starts.....you'll notice how there are so many pups who start at 3-6 months of age.....I don't really care about that.....I care about how they finish. I like seeing them start that young....but I don't get into much of a hurry.
I haven't hunted haze since last september and now it will be at least 3 weeks before I can put him out there because of where his stitches are. Maybe at some point you'll be able to see him go. He's just 5 so he's still young yet.
Richard......you can come up....just make sure you are not in heat if you are going to stay with Haze...
You can come over to Wendell.......Haze won't mind sharing.
Linkous.......the growth is gone....

Ha, that's funny. Crap eater, sounds about like mine. I have no doubt Haze is a nice dog and bred up too. Out here I need something that will run cats and has a decent nose. Without that the winters would be pretty boring. I used to think Billy was hot nosed because he doesn't open much until the track is pretty warm. I found out he has a pretty decent nose the last couple years running him by himself on some tougher lion and bobcat tracks. He runs them good and catches them too. You're right about judging a dog by one night in the woods, pretty much impossible. The wonder dog one night might not tree another coon in ten more nights and the dog that didn't impress might have had a bad night and tree a truckload of coon in ten more nights. Wouldn't it be great if they ever invented a dog that every pup he threw turned out? Won't ever happen. I love pups that start early and so far have been blessed with them, Sage included. A lot of how a pup starts is how they are raised and how they are introduced to their enviorment and the desired game. A lot of how they finish is subject to the same variables. Thank you for describing Haze to me, I appreciate that. He sounds like a nice hound and I hope someday to see him tree some coons. Take care - Kevin

Rambler is two ugly for Haze anyway, and you know which dog Bond has in the kennel
David
Oh my goodness!!! He is going to breed Samantha to Haze???

Linkous.....I would say you are right......it won't be long til the other is in heat.......Haze will be fine by then
Haze likes being a stud......but as far as rambler......Haze doesn't swing that way......thank goodness
Now when it comes to samantha........I'm sure Haze wouldn't mind what color she is. some of that walker stuff might not be a bad thing.

SOGGY BOTTOM T-TOP HAZE X BINGS TESS
Mike it looks like Ole (((((DUAL GRAND BINGS TESS))))) is starting to swell in the belly
Maybe it won't be long and we will be making a mark with some young blood in the hunts.
(((((BING'S TESS))))) one of the best RED DOGS to ever tree a coon is reproducing. These pups I have here out Psycho x Tess have all the coondog smarts and natural ability you could hope for in a pup.
I know (((((HAZE))))) is going to do his part. He is a proven winner and reproducer. Lots of powerful RED DOGS on both sides. Should be some dandy's Will keep you posted.
Mike thanks for all your help in making this cross become a reality. Also thanks to my Pal, Snapper Harris for making a road trip when it counted most Take care and keep'em RED!

Why do all of y'all's dogs look the same on a tree? Why do their ears flop around like that? I think that you only have one dog and you keep giving it different names! Donnie, do you see what you are getting yourself into?
Richard
You got us figured out...lol.
The Frog Dawg and Willow is looking good guy's.

That's good news Donnie. I hope all continues to go well with her. I'll be looking forward to seeing those pups and maybe even have one here. Hopefully she will have a good litter. It should be a good mix of blood.
Now Richard.....you know we wouldn't do that. All of our dogs are photogenic....
John....I don't know the dates of the sectional in michigan. If I find out I will post it for you.
