I'm wondering why the coon is laughing!!

1) It knew it was safe with Pastor Mike shooting
2) The redbones thought they actually treed a coon.
3) It was bath night and he was glad to have the company

The other dog was Cherry but last evening it was just Douke. I don't know why these pictures are dark they are perfect on the camera. Scott how can I make them lighter on my computer. Thanks Buck for posting them. If I can figure out how to lighten them up we will post them again. Your Buddy Dave.

Hi Tom

Just thought I would let you know I am going to breed my Rebel T-Top dog next week! I had someone contact me for a breeding so,I though we would do a trial on him and see what we get. He sure looks like he is bred to reproduce. I also by chance picked up a female out of Razor Red and Pastor Mikes Wire female. She is a real coondog and we are going to try to make her a nitech, I would eventually like to breed her to my Rebel dog as well. If we get those pups, they will be very close to the breeding of the Haze dog!!

T-Top Silk

Hi Tom,

I know it's been a long time since we talked but I've had quite the eventful late summer/early fall (I'll send an email to you later so I don't bog down the thread). Not the fall hunting season I had hoped for but do get out occationally. Starting to head out more now when the weather permits. I plan on putting T-Top Silk in the hunts this spring since I didn't get a chance last fall.

She's really picked up the hard treeing as the picture shows and loves getting after the coon when on the ground.

An email will be out later and hope things are going well.

Take care, Chris

Missed it...

I've been gone a week to the great state of Georgia spending a four days in Atlanta. It was warmer down there than back here in Wisconsin but since I've been gone, I see I have missed out on some good conversations.

Dave, Douke looks real good and she sounded better than she looked. I'm real glad to see that she reacted that way to a live coon up a tree...that's something to really look forward to this spring. It's sure interesting to see how much she carries on like some of her brothers and sisters and cousins...she's got the goods. If she reproduces like how it looks like Yank is going to reproduce...she has a bright future in this breed and I'll bet in the woods before too long.

I see that Silk made it to the woods and looks good. I'm glad to hear that Chris is looking forward to maybe putting his nice little female in some hunts later on this year, I'll bet she'll do a good job for you.

I'm always real tickled to hear about a pup getting with the program for the first time...there is no other feeling like it. It's sometimes hard to remember that pups are pups and what that means is that it takes some time for them to mature and learn their business. If they are willing to participate early and start showing that they have good instincts and are willing to get on the wood and tree...that sure makes for something to look forward to.

I got a message from someone talking while a real nice tree dog was treeing in the background...I could sure hear the dog well enough but I couldn't quite catch all that was said...was that you Tim? Geez, he sure was rapping them off and sounding good and loud...real nice tree dog. I'm not sure if it was you but who ever it was sure had a voice that sounds just like you.

As for the Raven school of marksmanship...what can I add to that conversation...nuff said...eh?

It's good to see Chance out and about...I think she has real potential once you're able to get her in the woods more. I can see that she has made up her mind that she doesn't like a coon and that she's willing to get on the wood so the rest will come.

John...Rebel has some good stuff wrapped up inside him, that's for sure. He goes back to some real nice hounds and should mix with the line real well. I'd think he'll carry some of the reproducing traits of his sire and all his cousins too so it seems that you're putting some nice hounds into the picture up there.

I'm glad to be home even though Georgia was a real nice trip and a wonderful state with true southern hospitality where ever I went. I returned home to find a high of 10 degrees and it started out well below zero this morning with another cold night ahead of us tonight. The snow is still deep on the ground and the moon is full so I know we'll see at least several more cold days before it changes again. I'm looking forward to doing more work with these young males but not in this weather. I guess I'll just sit back and enjoy the good conversation that goes on with all you folks and maybe get to see a picture or listen to a hound in the woods to help us get through to spring.

Just a reminder that Leinie is mated to Moose and Val is mated to Yank. I'll hopefully get Angel mated to Yank again this weekend...we'll see how it goes...it's awfully cold out there.

(I had it mixed up but it's right now...thanks Dave for pointing this out)

Tom

yeah, it was me. lol Cold has set in and weather has not been favorable. I did get out Sunday night and Griz got one up. He was treed on the other side of a ditch that was about 30 deep, straight up and down. I had to run the Gator about a quarter to the crossing to get to the other side. I hunt him off the Gator so much that I was thinking that he might pull when he heard me drive away, but he hammered the whole time. He had been treed close to 15 minutes by the time I found the coon and decided to let you hear him.

Griz

Hey Tim, I thought it was you and he sure sounded good on the wood. It has been real cold this week although I was down south the entire week and it was hitting mid 50s during the day in Atlanta so I'm not complaining. It looks like it will moderate a little bit over the next 10 days so we should be back at training by next weekend.

I'm looking forward to spring and seeing and hearing some dog work, we hope to make this another good year for the T-Top hounds and have some good things cooking for the summer.

Griz is to the point where he should jump to the next level so I'll bet it will be a fun spring and summer for you too.

TopDog ----

Let me get this right-----Your in GA in 50+ weather to come home in -10 weather the day the Winter Classic starts ????

Am I missing something?? Now Raven is a nice guy, Jason is a big boy, and I'm sure your wife didn't know you where gone. I think I would have taken a later flight and came home a few days later.

Boss said it was a Good Convention, but not to many people??

Winter Classic

You're right...I should have planned a little better and tried to take it in while I was down there. We were done on Friday morning so I suppose I could have taken a later flight if I could have hooked up with someone down there who would put up with me for a couple of days. Good ideas like that are better thought of early on but I guess I just didn't think I could pull it off with being their for work and all. Oh well...I'll get down there one of these days and take it in right.

It was a good show...lots of vendors but I'd have to say that it wasn't that well attended overall, at least based on what I've seen in the past.

Yank & Angel

Angel is mated to Yank today for the first time. We will expect pups around the first week in April from this cross.

I believe that there will be dogs from this cross that will make a splash in our breed over the next couple of years and I'm glad I am able to make it for the second time.

Yank and Val pups would be due around mid March.

Moose and Leinie pups will be due around the last week in March.

Yank and Angel pups will be due around the first week in April.
