Good news Dave. I just read that scientist did a study on rattle snakes using a fake leg. They put a boot on a stick and "stepped" on rattle snakes 175 times. It resulted in only 6 strikes. The other 169 times the snake was trying to get away. So you can start summer hunting again. You can probably step on ten rattle snakes before one bites you. Plus, some of the bites were dry bites.(No venom) Further increasing your chance of survival.

Lol. No thanks! Rattlesnakes only strike warm blooded prey, a fake leg would not give off any heat. I watched a video showing rubber boots was just as effective as snake boots, as the rubber boots did not give off any body heat. Snakes do not strike just anything as they want to save their venom for prey animals. Captive snakes are fed rats that are warmed up in hot water to produce a heat signature or the snake will not strike the cold rat. Do you have any idea what a rattlesnake bite would cost in hospital care even if you survived the bill could be a million dollars depending on the amount if antivrnom required. Dave

Snakes

Don't care for any of them.luckily have never seen one while hunting or morel picking over the years.got a sister-in-law that lives in Amarillo texas.went down there back in 1997 to visit and stopped at a restaurant that had a rattler in a glass case.certain time of the evening they would put a rat in the case for his meal.cant remember the name of the place though.
