Man,with legs like that who needs to fly.Very nice looking hounds you got there Dustin.
Hey RJ not completely sure but I think there might be one in southern IA that could give her a run for her money! LOL I hope your pups are turnin out real well. I have had ivy on a hide that the older dogs killed in my yard she wents nuts. Didnt bark the first time but she sure liked it. It was funny watchin her the first time. She would try to leave then turn and look at the hide, then run back and sniff it again. the second time she seen it she treed he little butt off.

Yes that would be great! Jess said these are not the first lightfoot dogs in Iowa, but I have never heard the light foot name before this deal. All I have to say is when we get done everyone will know what a lightfoot dog is!!!! They are bred to be the best so I intend to try to put them there. I am sure Rj will also!

RJ & Blaine,
Glad to hear your pups are progressing like they are supposed to. These last couple litters are already starting to impress the hunters that own them all over the U.S. and Canada. With a little more age I'm sure your pups will be performing as well as the pups from the older litters are.
I should be sending Jess one of his two females from the Hawk & Blitz litter this week. There are pups from this litter in British Columbia, Alberta, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, Texas, and soon in Florida.
I've heard hunters argue for years over whether dogs raised in one part of the country could excel in other parts. North vs South ect. Obviously scent and hunting conditions can vary greatly from one area to the next. I could see how a dog raised and trained in one part of the country, and then taken hunting in a different area with much different scent and trailing conditions, could have trouble adjusting to certain conditions that they are not used to.
But my opinion on pups has always been, that a pup doesn't know where he was born, or what type of conditions he should excel in. If the pup is bred well and has the traits nesseccary to consistantly produce game in that area, then with the proper exposure and trainig it should excel wherever it is raised.
These litters will be a great test of this theory. They will be hunted from 450 miles north of the border in Canada, in -20 below zero temps, to the hot dry climates of Texas. From the heavy rainfall climates of the west coast in Washington and Oregon, to the east coast in Florida. With the pups we have on the ground throughout the country, this should make it possible to make an accurate assessment of this theory.

I am pleased that your pups are doing well, they have good hunters behind them. A good pup has to have a good hunter to succeed.
One of the Light Foot dogs of the past that made it's self known in English history Was Light Foot Jill <Ainsworth,Ia> Jill is in the pedigree of a number of rather well known coon hounds.
Daul Gr Ch Cherry Tree Pete was a nice hound that went back to Jill. Grntch Crooked Creek Candy also went back to Jill. Dustin talked to someone out west who had a dog that went back to Jill. I know there were several others,But I would have to do some research to pull the names.
I am sure that Light Foot Ivy&Iris will make a impact also. This litter went to Ia,Mn,Wv,NS Canada. The Sire of these pups was Light Foot Buck <Littermate to Hawk> The **** was Light Foot Ruthless<Littermate to Brians Colby female>
Here is a Super Nice female owned by Stu Tuttle from In. Reva was 10 years old in this pic. Reva went back to old Jill.

THis is the only pic I have of old Jill

More Great Pix!
and video. Still love these Lightfoot hounds. Love seeing the pup pix a ton. I just prefer these old houndie looking dawgs! Gotta love the ears. SOMEWHERE but can't find it on the computer... I have a picture of our AKC BnT taking off as the greyhound goes to chase him... great picture. Of course the greyhound had overtaken him in less than a stride! I think those ears just held him back!LOL... That and the BIG AKC BnT nose!LOL...and lips.....
Actually... that may be on my website... if I still even have the site...LOL... Haven't looked in a while....
Anyway, sorry to babble, but I'm enjoying this thread, and this Big Game forum in general.
Happy Hunting! Heather

I have a super nice female that has some Light Foot breeding. Not real tight like you guys breed them. She is comming in heat now.I am wanting to breed her to Clyde, do you think he is old enough. Clyde is as nice as any of the dogs you guys have on here. Extra loud.

IF HE CAN MOUNT YOUR FEMALE AND KNOT WITH HER HE IS OLD ENOUGH TOP PRODUCE A LITTER. I HAD A 8 MONTH OLD BREED A BITCH BEFORE, I THOUGHT HE WAS TOO YOUNG, WRONG. I LEARNED THE HARD WAY !
Track
I would guess that Clyde is old enough<10mths> But you need to make sure Clyde is the hound you want pup's from. I know he is running and treeing. But make sure he has all the tool's you want in a hound. That can be tough at his age. I know that my pup<Dagger> from that litter <BlackJack&WhipFlash> is really sharp. But I will wait untill next year when I know everything about him before I pick which female that I think he will cross the best with.

Took Ivy to the timber for the first time tonite. Got a couple good coments on her mouth. We cut the rest of the dogs they went straight in, she went left handed. She stayed gone for about 30 min barked about 15 times then come back in. She made on circle around us and back out she went. This time she struck a good track and threw a combo of bawls ad chops in. She barked about 15 min or so then come back in. Not to bad for a 4month old pup on her first trip in the timber.

Good to hear that your pup's are working the way a Good pup should.
Good Hunter's + Good pup's make Good Hound's.
And Good Friend's.

She is a fire cracker on the tree.. Just wish she had a bawl mouth insted of chop the whole time. Are any of the other pups out of that cross like this. Just chopy on the track and the tree?

Jeremy,
At 8 months old it's hard to say what her mouth will end up like. A lot of these dogs develope more of a bawl mouth as they get older and settle down. Right now she is probably so excitable that she doesn't use her mouth to it's full potenial. Not all of the females end up with a bawl mouth on track, but many of them do.

Dustin is correct, Robin will most likley start bawling more as she age's. Most Light Foot hounds use a Good Bawl mouth.
UPDATE !!!!!!!!!
I have spoken with four hunter's who started their Light Foot pup's on Bear in the last couple of week's. All four pupies ran track and did their best to keep up. One pup ran about three hours before being caught crossing a road.
This is Light Foot Sandy<BlackJack&WhipFlash> Sandy is 10mths old and is doing a fine job on Cat/Bear. Sandy ran her 1st bear a couple of weeks ago.
