Took Outlaw Cherry Bomb out for a spin with her momma last night and she put on quite a show and made me proud She is 10 mo. Old out of Bree-x-Billy cross. What a mouth she has for a little female! Keep me posted on all the Billy pups that are out there....Shane

Breanna scored back to back wins on friday and saturday nights this weekend in the money hunts. Saturday night was a $500 added purse hunt that drew some of the best around....it was her 4th added purse placing in the past 6 weeks. Pretty proud of this little girl

I think alot of people miss the boat by not choosing to promote and prove the females of the redbone breed. It seems like everyone wants a stud dog so they choose to put their time into males. The females are just as important....some might even say more important than the male when making a great cross. I have 3 nice females and 1 young male that might meet my standards in the future. Can't wait to see more pics and video

i got to agree with you on this one i dont know anything about what you are doing with the breeding program that you speak of but i do know this and its my own opinion no one elses i would rather have pups out of a good female and a sorry male than a sorry female and a good male..i know by all accounts they are suppose to get equal from each side but i still take my chances with knowing they are out of a good coon treeing females..

These guys can debate and argue all they want over who has the best male to breed to....but all you have to do is look at which males the very best reproducing, and biggest winning females are getting bred to.
When I breed my females...you can bet I have done my homework and the odds are in favor of the cross being a good one. I think the breed would be alot further ahead if more people would decide to prove their females in competition so that people buying a pup can look at a history on both parents and make a more informed decision.
And as an added benefit....the pups sell quicker and bring more money out of titled females which enables the females owner to recoup some of the money they spent putting her in competition. These guys with stud dogs have to breed 6 or 7 females every 6 months to make as much as the owner of a top female who can breed her twice a year and sell 6-8 pups ...each for as much or more than a stud gets per breeding.

It's really not a matter what female is the best they need to be coon dogs most look at the males in peds I don't I look at the tail or bottom of the ped that's where I feel the reproducing ability comes from jmo
My theory is if you really like a male you breed him to some thing close in blood to his dam Kate what was little peppers dam ? Maggie what was rockys dam ? Raven what was rats dam ? Pepper what was ice dam? Some of the best crosses this breed has had in 20 years just a theory

To get my attention if they are young and have not yet proven themselves as reproducers.....they need to have proven themselves better than a majority of the dogs they have hunted against and the only way to do that in my opinion is competition hunts. I also look at the dogs behind them....were they winners? Were they reproducers? When you look at Kate and her daughter Pepper Ann it looks like they reproduce great with whatever you breed them too....but make no mistake, those crosses were carefully thought out and planned by the men who have owned those dogs.....as are most great crosses. John Biggert recently made a heavy, heavy linebred cross on Pepper Ann that he is very excited about after seeing some great things from pups that are just 4 months old. These are the types of crosses that will make or break a dog as far as reproducing ability goes. I applaud him and others like him for taking chances and moving the breed forward. Just remember that getting those pups into the "right" hands is just as or more important than the crosses we make. If pups don't get the chance to develop properly and show what they can do....none of us can get a clear picture of any dogs reproducing ability. I see quite a few high quality females in this breed who should have the ability to reproduce great pups if bred to the right male. Lets just hope that future pups find their way into the hands of people who are serious about doing what it takes to make sure they reach their full potential. I could not be happier with the pups I have right now. I can't remember ever having this many top prospects started at the same time.....I feel pretty lucky to be in that kind of position and I hope alot of other redbone people find themselves in a similar position in the future. I think things are lining up for this breed and its just a matter of time before they come together and we see great things start to happen. Good luck everyone.....Shane
PS, there are many other great reproducing females current and past that I didn't mention. I only referenced a few of the ones who my current dogs go back to and that I am very familiar with. I really like to see females in my dogs pedigree that proved they could reproduce when crossed on different males over time. Sometimes we see females who reproduced great...but only on one particular male....and of course there are males that are the same way. I do alot more thorough homework when looking at dogs like that....but they still interest me as reproducers.

could Deanna be the fourth would that be in your mind a top comp reproducing female and are the other three related to her
