I don't follow what's going on in the competition side of things like I used to but I can think of quite a few leopards heavy in Jug blood. In fact, I would venture a guess here (I would have to have access to the UKC database) but I've heard of more dogs down from Jug getting their NCH title than of any other line. I'm just talking numbers here. Maybe I'm wrong here but I'll bet a few people can post all of the dogs that they know of that have been doing enough winning to get a NCH title. I would imagine that we could get a pretty good count just with a post about it here on the Leopard board.

Mark, you would benefit from a thorough re-reading of the X-Breed policies. It doesn't matter what breed opens it's books, you can still cross and register the offspring in the X-Bred category.

Well Said Danny, Don't Have A Dog In The Leopard Breed, I've Raised & Hunted PlottXCur For 5 Gen Reg with UKC, NKC, As Treeing Cur, Have Had 1/2 Plott !/2 Cur, 7/8 Cur 1/8 Plott 3/4 Cur, 1/4 Plott , & Am Now Hunt'n A 5/8s Plott,3/8 Cur 30 # Fe That's As Good as We've Raised Yet , X breed, Crossbreed, Tree'n Cur "Whatever", IMHO, Really Don't Have A Place In The Ranks Of The " So Called" Pure Bred. They're "Curredogges" Boys & It Is What It Is. My 2 R Wolfe.

........... Dan i have to admit i didn't cause i got bored. I started a thread asking what breed of dogs everyone would cross breed with the leps, got around 500 views ,but not one answer. How come? Guess maybe some didn't want to give away their secrets. Fair enough.Again i like crossbred dogs ,but why the big push to introduce them into the leopard breed? Why not leave them as cross bred dogs? Dan i think you know me well enough to know that's not a loaded question . I am sincere and really am curious as to why.

Guess they must do a terrible job of getting pups into the hands of comp hunters too. Ad after ad on here of people looking for started or finished leps, something they can run in the hunts. Strange one of those secret ass kickers doesn't find it way into the right hands. Why ain't my crossbreds beating regular leps? Because they haven't allowed them to hunt yet. Duh! You'll see some making waves soon though, you can count on that.

First off, Randy and I had a PM conversation and I respect his opinion.

Danny- If I could snap my fingers and open the books tomorrow I think everyone would be shocked over the next ten years at how few dogs got moved from the X-Breed category back into the ALH. I know your sincere and I appreciate that. You know how all of this comes off in writing.

Mark- I still love you man.

If I went whole hog at this and the books were open I don't even know if I would have more than a dog or two over the next ten years to put back into the ALH breed and that's if I had all of my time back and wasn't raising young kids. The ho-ha stirred up around the fear of "other" blood is crazy as crazy gets considering the makeup of the dogs that are now in and the level of consistency in the talents the ALH's of today. A true great comes out of this breed every 10 years...it should be every year. This decision to keep the books closed is just a sure way for that to stay the same, and what for? None of the new advantages that UKC offers through the restructuring of the single registration process effect any one kennel unless the owner of that kennel decides to buy a KNOWN dog with X-Bred parentage or breed to one...the choice is still there for each individual kennel.

Duh.

To argue with someone who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead. - Thomas Paine

How will it affect you? What will it hurt? How will it affect your kennel or breeding program?

The idea that only 37 people have bothered to vote despite a spirited debate leaves me with the only one reasonable option.

Dave- Thanks for the inspiration.
