Had a good hunt with Jt Smith last night. We couldn't get on a track but managed to tree some layed up coon. The acorns are so thick that the coon don't have to stir. We aren't getting picks om cameras until 3 am or in the middle of the day. I love having hounds that don't need a track to tree a coon. Whip is going to be special.

it was cold and rainy, but we managed to have a great successful hunt tonight. We got on a good feed track that went a long ways and put the hounds to the test. the end result was the coon was treed and the hounds got fur in their mouths. coondogs in the making. I've never enjoyed listening to a hound tree more than Whip. he is in a class of his own...

turned loose 2 times tonight. 1st was a great track in the mountains where we got treed in a place I've never been. treed right beside an awesome waterfall near a rock bluff. coon seen. 2nd time we came off the mountain down in the creek bottoms. after lots of silence Whip got about 800 yards upstream and his first bark was a locate followed by a steady hard chop. we drove in and seen the second coon layed up. awesome hunt with my great friend and partner Larry Hamlin. Blessed!

Thank you. I was thinking Sooner Be Blue was out of Smokey River Diamond Jim, but see he isn't.

there were some smokey river dogs behind him but not diamond jim. Sooner be blue was the purina race breed champion or runner up in 1987 or 88. he was a nice hound that had lots of drive. Tim Vaughn told me that he liked him when Warren had him.

A good friend of mine once said "I don't care to know where the coon has been. I want to know where he is" This statement stuck with me along with lots of great knowledge and talks I had with him. Finding and getting under a coon as fast as possible has been what I've strived for every since.

I know that the pups are only 6 months old but I hope that everyone that has a pup out of Whip will keep me up to date on how they are coming along. I've gotten some good reports on some but haven't heard from others. I feel like if given the chance they should be starting

we had a horrible hunt last night. it was almost like they couldn't smell. the area we were in was causing me to have allergy problems and making me cough and sneeze. never experienced anything like that before

Whip looked great tonight. we hunted rough country in the mountains. the coon are rutting and it takes a coondog to get one treed otherwise you just go from one den tree to another. with hard hunting and time Whip is going to be a great one.
