Whats yalls opinion on how to keep my dogs warm? Is hay warmer than shavings in the barrels? I might can put em in a horse trailer but dont really know if thats warmer or not. They outta wind kinda where they are. Wind chills gonna be close to -20 they say now. What yall think?

i just put lot's clean straw in my dog boxes they did good in all this sub zero weather gotta go to the walmart check back in later
I would go hay or straw for bedding.Dawg...keeping the wind off of them is a big help..can you park the trailer where it would block the wind off of them...dang wind has really kicked up here in the last hour.

I have some old tarps I'm gonna put up to block some wind maybe. Then I will put some hay in there also. Im afraid putting mine in trailer will skeer him and make it worse for him. I cant get the trailer down to dog pens.

I ended up putting him in enclosed completely horse trailer. Back in between 2 more horse trailers. So wind will be blocked off. Put his barrel in there with new shavings and some hay on outside if he'd rather have that. First thing he done is take a crap in there lol. Decided with 25mph winds I needed to get him out from under the big trees over his kennel. One already fell on one of my kennels. I dont need to lose this hound. I lost a super hound last yr and had to put my old rat female down around dec. Now my feist is on the porch in a plastic covered small kennel. I put a blanket on him.. He thinks hes cock of the walk now. LOL. Yall try and stay warm!!!

Worked today on the frozen tundra prairie, wind would cut right threw ya,had an ole boy bring in a load of dusty black fertilizer from Iowa, was suppose to deliver to the farmers field so we could spread it way too windy so he unloaded it on the big rig I drive,it was so cold his hyd. pump couldn't unload it very fast, liked to froze my fanny off in the open wind,we're gonna try & spread it tomorrow afternoon, that stuff was so black & dusty where it landed on the ground it's black as prairie dirt, came home watered dogs checked beddin' & in the warm house till mornin',it ain't bad down in the holler, but NO WAY this guy would live on that flat ground, they keep takin' out them fence rows & them boys are gonna be sorry some day,all for 1 more row of corn, stupidest thing I ever seen.
i bet it was pretty nasty workin out like that all day
