Al. Youth Hunt

We took Tyler and a friend to the youth hunt in Empire saturday. They had a great time. They won the senior handler division of the water race with Toby. There was plenty of competition and they were thrilled.

Ryan Castlebury's bluetick won the junior handler division of the water race. He also had a blue female that won in the show. They represented blues very well. Good Job Castlebury's.

A male out of Big Time Albert did well in the bench show. Tyler had a female out of Albert in his cast. They represented blues well.

Tyler hunted Sally last night. She did a really nice job but we only scored on one coon. Tyler was tied for the lead on the last dump but he didn't hold the tiebreaker. He got aggressive in the last minute but it just didn't work out. I am so proud of Tyler and Sally did good. Congradulations to the young lady and the redbone on the cast win. I'm not sure how much Dana might get to hunt Sally now. Lol

One humbling thing for me was I had 4 people (three I didn't know, that hunt other breeds) walk up and book pups out of Jazz and Frank Jr. They had previously walked up to Shaun and asked him about Jazz. He told them she was coming back to have pups. The three guys I didn't know introduced themselves and had hunted with her in competition. Ryan Castlebury booked the other one. I am really glad to see Ryan get one.

My weekend was fun, relaxed, and I have a wallet full of phone numbers. These hounds are so much fun and sometimes sell themselves.

Tyler and his friend Colby just got in from taking Sally out by herself. She treed one on the outside. She may just be the dog that gets him going again. We can't replace Spice II but he is really getting attached to Sally. He has confidence in her abilities.

How have ya'll's coons been stirring Lance? Brummy went over a mile to get struck tonight, but when he did it was a pretty good track. I haven't been hunting enough to know how they're stirring.

The hunting has been poor the past three weeks. One hound at the youth hunt came in with 500 the rest of cast that weren't dead were single coon scores. There were over 30 dogs hunted. It has been tough to do many multiples.

I love to hear about the young guys getting a fire built.
Some times it takes a while after loseing a dog.
Coon are tuff to find around here right now. I'd say the sows are staying really close to their dens right now.
The mullberry trees have berrys the size of your finger nail allready and should start to turn in a few weeks.
Great time of year to start pups.

T Byrd and Colby went hunting with Sally again last night. They treed one and came in because it is a school night. There is no guess anymore T has now told me Sally is his dog! That is fine with me. He has been happier the past two weeks hunting with her and his friend. I will gladly let him take her.. But T does know I am in the wings waiting..LOL Dana
