Training day...
We did a little training this morning and had a good time of it. I lost the training coon again so we had to use a fresh road kill carcass in the cage...the pups didn't seem to mind. You'll have to excuse my enthusiasm with all the pictures but I love this stuff and these are nice prospects...
Yank and Angel male with green collar, the other 3 are from Moose and Leinie...
Giving it all he has...(Dark male in background is out of Yank and Shadow)
One of the twin Moose and Leinie males...
The other of the twin Moose and Leinie males...
Our picks, Cloud from Yank and Angel and Slim from Moose and Leinie...
Moose and Leinie male going to NC...Nice tree style...
These pups performed very well today, all are good prospects. There are some interesting characteristics in these pictures that I find very satisfying to see. The Moose and Leinie pups are very long, lean and athletic, they're going to be tall and muscled very nicely and fit to go. There are 3 of them left here and all three get after a coon and have good tree instincts. They never let up during this training session. I'd also point out the tree style, each took his turn at getting up on the hardwood, digging in and barking like they meant it.
The Yank and Angel male is good looking and has very good tree style...reminds me a lot of Ace. He is very intense but has a wonderful personality.
The other pup in the photos is a male out of Yank and Shadow. Today was the first day he fired up like he really wanted to participate. He has been fearful of the high level of activity of the adult dogs but today we removed them from the equation so they were all peers and it allowed him to make the next step. He shows pretty good interest and treed real good the whole time.
One of the Moose and Leinie males is going east to NC and another south and both are good prospects and should be well along the way by the time they head home this fall.
I predict that we'll have the two that we're keeping here, tracking and treeing with the older dogs by October and it will be fun to watch them develop. If the other two get some woods time this fall and winter, I would expect that they'll be working hard to participate also.
Gun is on his way home to Wisconsin thanks to Dave Woofter and deadeye who brought him back...THANK YOU both!

pup that is going to NC has been sent a name BROWNTOWN'S T-TOP BIG MOE. What a hard job to a to name a dog when one of the top people in your breed are working your pup. Thanks Tom for this.
T-Top Show-Time Coon Stopper Ace
T-Top Ace Out of Yank and Angel
T-Top Ace
Tom I hunted Ace with a nice Walker dog last night and he looked real good. Did the T-Top dogs proud. Treed three and saw three. Here are a couple of Pictures. Have a good one. Dave P.S. Tom seems like Ace is more than 15 months old but he just turned 15 months on 9/6/2010. ( tonight )
Ace
Sorry I wasn't able to get your call last night Dave, I was in the shower but it was a real nice message to get, that's for sure.
Ace sounded good as you were going in to that tree...loud and doing a real nice job on that tree.
He's sure maturing into a nice hound and he looks and sounds about as good as it gets. It's going to be a fun fall with him and Cherry in the woods.

I sure do wish that I had one of those fancy cameras so that I could post a picture of my Rabble grandpup treeing. (Christmas is coming up soon)

Camera
I spent years and years chasing some good Red dogs and hardly a picture to show for it...I'm not going to make that mistake again...hence...all the pictures I post on here.
Once that shutter snaps, we have life stopped in time...we need to enjoy it...at least that's my philosophy these days.
Look back in this post and you'll see pictures of Ace in training...those don't look much different than what Dave is posting here now...he was just a baby then but already showed the makings of a real nice coon dog...those were just bricks in the foundation...Dave is erecting the completed product right now...we'll be able to look back on that history for a long time to come...life is good...eh?

Mr Solberg, with the way Tom Tom progressed this past week my future sure is rosy. I wish that I could hunt up North all of the time.
Pups
Yep, putting those youngsters in coons is a pretty good way to help them take the next step. It's always tough to bring a young dog on when coons are thin.
I like these pups Richard, just like you are liking Tom Tom. You can see it in them when they have that certain something and it makes it fun to keep at it.
I still feel like we'll have a couple of these youngsters tracking and treeing this fall and I hope to have the photos to prove it and to show once again that good stock and a good program will make a dog more often than not...
We'll hook up somewhere down the road and you can see how it is when the leaves are off and the frost is down...and the dogs are crackin'....life is good...eh?

Yes it is!!! I went last night and took Tom and Chick. What a pair. I might take Tom to a hunt this week end. I know that he is too young (9 mos old) but I can't stand it. I don't have the patience to wait. I probably need to sell him before I ruin him but I just can't bring myself to do that either.
Things of beauty...
There are things of beauty all around us but many times go unnoticed because of the pressures of every day life.
This is by God's grace...
The dawning of a new day...brush strokes straight from Heaven...
And...then there's Moose...hooked with the meat...
Dave has been putting some dogs in the woods, as he is able, to get them back into shape for fall. Moose looked good last night and shows why he's one of the really nice young prospects out in the Redbone world.
We'll be looking forward to finishing him yet this month or early October and then on to a hard fall season for him and the others before he heads home to Virginia, onward to bigger and better things with Buck, Pastor Mike and the others.
The weather is changing with cool nights and mornings and a new smell to the air...fall is just around the corner. We'll have a nice crop of pups in training this fall and I believe the next generation is here at T-Top ready to take their place for the future.

Pup
Scott, I wanted to thank you for meeting me so that I could pick up that pup that you brought back from Dave W. I really appreciated it and I won't forget it...I'll make it worth your while somewhere down the road.
Dave has had Leinie out with Moose and she's doing a great job in the woods. Her and Moose will sometimes end up going their own ways when hunted together but it's never a big chore to walk to separate trees when you know the meat will be there. She can cover some ground just like Moose so I'm glad Dave has the fortitude to follow them like he does because he'll have them both back in real good shape before we know it. Moose has a couple of dates with some competition hunts and hopefully a cast win to finish him out and then we'll see who steps up next, either Yank or Leinie. Dave hasn't been hitting too many hunts lately but the time is coming as these nights get longer and cooler.
On a separate note...the pups from the Moose and Leinie litter that I still have here, are doing very well on the leash training. The second time on the lead and they were already getting with it and no fighting at all. I like how smart they are and how quickly they are picking everything up. It won't be long and they'll be at the next stage of training so it should be interesting to see how it all plays out.
To the folks who have one of these pups still coming...stay tuned...I'm thinking it's going to be a fun ride.

Pups
I got a couple of updates on some pups down south. These are nice pups and showing some promise.
This is a nice male out of Moose and Leinie
This guy is out of Yank and Angel
I'm still working a couple of pups that are mates to these two males and they also are coming along real nice. It's that time of year when training is easier on the pups and on us and it's fun watching it all unfold.
Good luck with your pups guys, they look like they're getting with it real good.

My nine month old Rabble grandson, Tom Tom, split treed by himself and stayed for the first time last night. He is also a 3/4 brother to Moose.
OK RICHARD
See if you can get a before Christmas camera...lol.
Like to see the Rabble pup that are in Tenn.

Pup
That's pretty cool Richard...I love it when that happens. It's like an affliction with me...I just can't hardly stand it when I see a good prospect coming down the pike. He sounds like he's going to be something to deal with in the next year or so...eh?
I like these pups that I have left here and I'm really starting to take a shine to the Yank and Angel male that's a brother to Ace...he's a keeper for sure. The 3 left from Moose and Leinie are all getting with the program big time also so we'll be having some good updates shortly when we move onto the next step.
The little male that I got from Dave W. is really nice and I already know he's going to be special...even at 12 weeks old...like I said...I love it when that happens.
