Thank You Terry, How has the coon hunting been in your neck of the woods? I haven't been out for a week, but I usually stay close to home during the week of Christmas. Last night out we did tree 5 singles by midnight so Holly must have run into a couple of dummies on that night!!

Weathers a little nasty here right now and supposed to get down near 10 degrees in the next couple days, So when the temp starts to moderate again, I think I'll get back out as the coon seem to move decent around here right after a cold snap in temperature. Trying to not let Holly get too rusty before heading out to the winter classic in about a month, LOL!!

Are you snowed in yet or are you still able to hunt??

Well one last night of College football and Ole Holly & I will get back into the timber. Alabama vs Notre Dame. I'm picking ALABAMA to run over that strong defense. My motto has alway been a STRONG OFFENSE is better that a good defense. LOL!!

Holly & I are making one last two week final tuneup before heading out to the Winter Classic. Man I'm looking forward to that trip. I have never been in the state of Mississippi, let alone get to go coonhunting there, so this will be an awesome trip for me.

So to all you fellow houndsmen down that way, I look forward to turning my Ole Coon Catcher loose in your back yard and see just how well she will hold up under that Southern Exposure, so to speak. I absolutely love to hunt with good sportsmen and sportswomen, LOL!! all over this great nation, and this hunting trip will be no exception.

Good Luck to each of my fellow hunters and competitors!! (If I don't win) then I hope each and every one of you DO!!

Went hunting tonight. Temperature got down to about 28 deg. by 10:00. We ran 4 tracks but all of them only seemd to run 50 to 100 yards straight back to a den tree. These danged coon were acting like they usually do in December.

Thanks Chuck, Yes I returned your PM.

Had a lil better luck last night. Treed 1 single, 1 double and had one hole in an old mine shaft. All races were 15 to 30 minutes long and only had a 1/4mile or so walk to the end of all tracks.
So I was glad to see Ole olly had not forgot how to tree a coon in the past 3 weeks, LOL!!!

Final Tune Up

Well looks like the weather has ended my final prep for the Classic. We treed two single last night. Ole Holly is now probably gonna be in the easy chair till Wednesday. Now if this Ole country boy can find his way to Batesville, who knows just what might happen, LOL. Good Luck to all!!

Hello Dave, Yes it sure was nice to meet you as well. It's always nice to be able to put a face with a name. Thanks for the compliment on Holly. Gosh if we could have just treed a coon on Sat. Nite, I think we would have won the UEB&F High Scoring English female. But you know how that goes, LOL. If Ole Blue had not stopped to SHIZZ, he may have caught the rabbit, LOL!!

At any rate, I had a BLAST!! Many thanks to the Rainey brothers of Memphis, Tennesee, and their friend Bobby, for guiding me on Friday Night. Ole Holly blundered into 2 singles and a double, and got a cast win with 500 plus. And many thanks to Dave ?, from Indinapolis, Indiana, who was hunting his Gr.Nt Black & Tan "Bodacious" (I Think), Sammy from Alabama, hunting his Gr.Nt. Redbone, and Bryan, from Indiana, hunting his Gr.Nt. Treeing Walker, TANK (I Think) was his name. You guys were all great to hunt with and made my job as a judge, very easy and enjoyable. These guys were top notch Men and acceppted the scoring without any questions.

Sure wish Sat Night would have turned out a little different, but that cast was doomed from the git/go. The guides dog, flipped its stomach (or something) and was in dire distress by the time we got to the 1st tree. The cast members, Gracious guys from Alabama, hunting a very nice Gr.Nt. female, (Cabin Creek Rowdy X Hard Time Speck) breeding, helped this man carry the dog out of the woods. It only lived a short time after that, so my condolances to Chuck (our guide) for your loss. We only got two drops after that. One was Holly pullin up on an empty tree, and the remaining dogs saying "OH Yea" this is where its at, LOL was that ever ugly. The last drop produced nothing but one dog a blue female from Louisana, in a hole. That thing may have had a diller in it, (I DON"T KNOW) but that hole sure had a foul oder to it LOL.

But I had a great trip, with some great friends, and met some GREAT people, and hunted with some GREAT Sportsmen and now have some GREAT MEMORIES, that will last a lifetime.

Thank You UKC for putting on a great event!! I loved it all!!!!

Thanks Tom, We have a UKC hunt at our club on Feb 9th. Maybe you can make it up an put another win on Your young dog. Snow has pretty much snowbound us for this week so Hope something good is on TV LOL!!!

Sure thing Doug, The young mans name is Randy Baker. He lives in Amesville, Ohio, bout 10 miles down the road from me. His wife stopped in the the shelter the other day and bought him another dog tag. Said Randy had also purchased a 15 month old pup that was running and treeing. I'll check up on him in a few days an see how things are going.

My wife is having disc repair surgery in her neck on Wednesday so I'll be pretty busy for the next few days. But wen we get back home I'll try to find his number and touch bases with Randy to see how he's doing. Take Care Doug!!

No Randy just recently started getting on the UKC site. I think he goes by Ohenglish, not to be mistaken with OHenglish. At any rate I'll double check on that and let you know.

Thank You so very much for the prayers Del. Only time will tell now, just how successful the procedure was But with all the prayers we have received things are certainly looking good.

Today is day #6 and Debbie said she feels better today than any other day since her surgery. So I'm hopeful that each day will now get a little better for her. Yes "she is a keeper", an I'm doing my best to spoil her all that I can. Lord knows she has spoiled me every day for the past 20 years.

Take Care my friend, We look forward to seeing you and your wife when the weather gets warmer.
