Got your message tonight Mark. sorry I missed your call, we had our youth service tonight. I was just calling to see if you had messed with your pups yet and if so how they were doing and coming along. I like these two here. One is a little stand offish but I think she will get over it. they have great interest levels for their age.

It sounds like the Moonlight Team needs a new secretary. The litter registration papers with all of the new additions/choices have gotten a little confusing for us poor coonhunters. Now there are 4 pages. They used to be a lot simpler.

i agree totally richard paper work is not my best trait

some how i put the wrong breeding date on the papers witch sat in my filing cabinet (sun visor of truck) for months

Back Up For Haze

Haze is a 2012 Performance Sire. I will do my best to give as much info as I can on Haze and his pups.

When I was competition hunting Haze, his strengths were:

*A lot of 1st trees.
*Very accurate
*Would split and hold pressure
*Great track speed
*Nice distinguishable locate (warbling,yodel or the "turkey gobble")
*Above average mouth
*Straight, no trash (fast or slow)
*absolutely not an ill hair on him
*Good coon sense.
*Back off tree with other dogs, stayed out of trouble.
*Could breed him the same day as a hunt and take him to the hunt and have no problems.

Weaknesses:

*3rd or 4th strike dog (some folks may take the fact that haze was slow to open that he was me-tooing or piggy backin', this isn't the case, when haze opened, 9 times out of 10 he was already 50 yards ahead of the other dogs and had the track lined out, thus the reason he got a lot of first trees)
*would spend a little time "emptying" out when first turned loose unless dropped on a track.
*would sometimes check back in after about 20 minutes or so.
*not a lay up dog, likes to run a track
*Had to be hunted up a few weeks to look his best.

Info on pups sired by Haze:

*Will start between 4months and 12months (personally have seen both ends of this spectrum) If they start later (after 10 months), they will come on very quickly)
*Louder mouths than Haze himself
*Will most likely have some white on them
*Have good drive but have seen some that don't
*Usually bigger dogs
*Good body structure (head, legs,feet)
*Mostly on the wood tree dogs
*Willing to split tree
*Many are very fast on track
*Good locates
*Not sure about trash, Frog is straight, Jenny is pretty gamey and will touch a deer but easily comes off them. I haven't really had any complaints about trash except the occasional possum.

Haze will end up being on the reproducers list once he has the required amount of pups. He has a couple of nite champs on the ground now with many more to come.

Haze isn't perfect but he will consistently tree coons. He comes from a long line of reproducers, his Sire is Rabble Rouser who just crossed the threshold of 11% reproductive rate and will only get higher. His Dam is pigeon, who is the #2 current reproducer with more titled dogs to come out of her.

Haze has pups on the ground now that are showing great promise and already have wins, including a 13 month old pup who was High Scoring Red male at the Grand American in 2011.

We know that not all pups will make it due to not being given a true opportunity, but I believe a high percentage of Haze pups will make it if given the right opportunity.

If you like T-Top blood and Rusty Red blood and Red Ace blood.....then Haze should be at the top of your list for consideration.

Haze turned 6 years old on 11/12/11.

Come for a hunt anytime, we'll show Haze in the woods, by himself or with other dogs.

It is about time that you came back to life! Doesn't Haze have more Hennings Chief blood than any stud alive today? Did Haze ever win anything at the bigger hunts? One of his offspring, Dark Timber Chicken Foot, is going to win some big hunts in the near future. I have hunted with and against her and I really like her. She is destined for greatness.

I have alot of mountain areas to hunt but those just look gourgeous! Anyway, nice seein ya at tsc the other week. I don't work there anymore, I work for Pulaski Co. Schools now. Those pics were taken by david linkous up in Craig County. It really is a beautiful place.

Richard, I don't know about Haze's "big hunt" career. He does have some chief in him though and rusty and rabble and rat.

He also comes from a whole litter of coondogs. 2 grand nites and a nite champ in his litter. another littermate that was killed on the road with 2 first place wins. another littermate in illinois that is a nice coondog that could finish but will probably never see a hunt, another littermate here in virginia that will be put in the hunts this spring.....she is being hunted to get in shape now. I know of 2 more that are dead, one at a very young age and another at about 2 years. the latter was going to make a dog, I started him along side of hernie, then moved him. His parents were coondogs who were also reproducers who came from coondogs and reproducers themselves. So, I don't think haze would qualify as a freak, his cross was expected to be a good one and it turned out to be that, no secret there.

That's a good question John. If my math is right, I'm thinking he has around 92 pups, I don't know if all have been registered though so it could actually be less than that. I will be registering a pup in the next week or two so once I get those papers back, I will know how many have been registered. I have nothing lined up to breed to him at all for this year.
Haze is a reproducer, even if he doesn't reach the 100 pup mark.
