Big Timber

Corey, you just need to head north-east to some of the Big timber and hill country and let the dogs get gone thru the country and they'll find something to get treed. Treed 4 last night and 3 the night before even though it is tough tracking and getting brighter out. The creek-line, small timber easy ones are a thing of the past for this year. Come on over if you get the chance and we'll see if we can't find one for Champ to get under. Think I'll go to my 3500 acre hot spot and let them roam tonight. Take care, Ron.

Corey, tried calling you last night. Maggie looked good last night for her first night of kill season. Treed 4 times and she did a pretty fair on all of them. We got some weight back on her and she looks good.

Well Ia sucked big time. We left in the 3rd. One of the worst games I've seen in years. Gonna hit the woods and hope it goes better.

Chad
I got your call and could hear the dogs treeing but no one said anything.

Ron
I might try to head up north over thanksgiving. I usually hit the timber once or twice up there in fall.

All that treeing was followed by 15 shots to get a little coon out of a very big tree.

Chad
Sounds to me like you should let the wife shoot.lol

A little better hunt tonight. Still had some fairly decent tracks end up in dens. Got one big 48 inch long boar on the outside of one of them though. Last drop dutch gubbed a 2 week old track track for a long time before it heated up and put some pressure on it and treed him. In the meantime champ was split about a half mile the other way with his own.

Corey- The Chokeyes strike again! It about makes me sick how we fast and far down hill they have gone in the last few years. Only good this is the wrestling program will be tougher than nails this year. They got a kid from Michigan who transfered last year and this will be his first year of eligibility, in high school he was 266-0.

Man i'm sick of the SUCKEYES this year can't play can't stay out of trouble what the heck. Hunting going pretty good around here this year we get two a night call it quits home by 8 most of the time. Little dog i got from tony doing good. We'll have to get together for a hunt one of these nights.

I MISS

Hayden Fry.

8 or 10 win seasons were pretty common back then. Seems like anymore we are worried about getting six wins and hoping to go to the Saltine Crackers Nobody Bowl.

Chris your right i dont think the problem is with the head coach though. But i belive he needs to clean house.

Posted by Hawk32 on 11-18-2007 07:50 PM:

It willl be interesting to see what happens. My guess is nothing, but I think in order to get back to 8-10 wins something has got to change. The boo birds were out pretty good yesterday. Recruiting has been down the last couple of years and it is showing big time. I know I wouldn't mind see some new coordinaters.

Even Missouri has standards !!

GEESH

I have been chasing whitetails in Illinois since thursday. Fricken outfitters are moving in, i knew it was a matter of time.

A St. Louis cardinal pitcher is hunting next to us, i did everything i could do to "help" him out lol.

Another young man from Florida was hunting on the other side of us, he had bowhunted all last week for the rate of 1800 then shotgunned at 2300 for the weekend. Stayed in motel for 8 nights. He killed a 130 class buck and was elated.

You local guys probably know of Curt Stevens, he hunts walkers. He connected on a 230 non typical, he blew the right main beam off so it will not be elgible for the book.

I got my eye on a booner real close and still have to run to the bathroom to puke from time to time. My boy tagged along with us sat. and i let him carry my open sighted 20 ga. that i use when driving. I carried my scoped 12 ga., wrong ticket for a monster running through some brush at 15 yds lol.

Posted by Hawk32 on 11-19-2007 07:39 PM:

Tony
You are right Missouri probably wouldn't let me in.

I know exactly what you mean about ground being leased up. Been getting worse and worse. I got lucky and have some permission to hunt to awsome ground in northern Ia and in southern ia. but the ground in northern Ia will more than likely be leased from a bunch of guys from out of state next year. In another few years unless you own land or can afford to pay to hunt it's gonna be hard to hunt anywhere. Gonna be a rich mans game pretty soon.

I took a decent 12 pt 150 inch deer in northern ia this year but the one that came by next was a real dandy. Watched him for 3 min perfect broadside. I wanted to puke when he walked away.

Good luck hope you get a poke at one of those big boys.

Same thing with coon hunting guys alot of leased ground you better stay off. They will have you arrested! Very tough to find nice hunting ground around here anymore. Between the loggers and outfitters.

Yeah there is some public ground here too but Duane being 76 he has a hard time with the hills. Seems like the ground here is very hilly.

I hunted with Steve the guy that bought Shaker lastnite in the public hunting around Farmington. Lots of hills and big timbers. Lots of walking!!
Thats where you'll get your nice big coon too.

Man Snyder you need to plan better. You can't sart these projects in the middle of coon season, what were you thinking. It's like planning a wedding. There are only a limited number of months in the year to have a wedding. My step sister got married on opening night of coon season this year. Guess who didn't go.lol
