Hillbilly ,that old black salve is called icthamolic ointment 20%, if you can't get it try a can of Prid ointment pretty good but not as good as the old black stuff.

HB, I thought all horse people kept ichthammol on hand. Tractor Supply should have it, but I think I ordered my last jar from JEFFERS. I just used mine on my legs a couple of wks ago...something bit the crap out of them and they itched like crazy, put the drawing salve on and they felt better almost immediately. Of course I didn't leave home while I had it on because of the smell, but I've worked in places that people came in smelling way worse.

I grew up using Pride, now the smell rolls my tummy. A piece of bread moistened with milk placed on an oozing sore works well too. Anymore I'll use the high dollar steroid cream with a bandaid to draw the poison out & promote healing.

We didn't have electric for 5 hrs last night, but it doesn't take much for us to lose it.

Had 400 pictures on the trail camera in 3 days. Mostly deer, some nice bucks for here, fox, turkey, a bear and a couple of beautiful Redbones.

Chuck and HB, we probably beat u on the forgetting today. We needed to go to the hospital for blood work this Am so yesterday I called Monroe to have the oil changed in the Jeep since we had to make a trip to Clarion.

This Am, we got up bright and early, fed dogs and horses, and got ready to go. Jumped in the car, got 10 miles down the rd before we realized we needed to be in the Jeep had to turn around and come home and change vehicles. That put us late enough we had to leave the Jeep at Monroe and walk to the hospital.

Muggy & hot. Miserable day & the full moon is bringing the crazy out.

The DNR officer & city police officer showed up at work, pulled my young dumb kid off the job for questions. He & a friend poached a 4 point last night. My first question was you didn't go to my place did you? I will f'ing kill you. He shook his head & said I tried to kill myself but the rifle jammed.

Ooofff that was unexpected atleast the DNR has the Highpoint now. Never got to finish my work, dropped everything for a long hard talk.

Took Rose to the vet, she drew 300cc's of fluid off the bad leg. The x-ray showed wire around her femur, her body is now rejecting it. Tentatively planning surgery in a month.

The good news is she has lost 11 pounds even with a bad leg.

Time for bed, long day & tomorrow will be better I hit overtime pay this morning.

The how & why I don't know, she found us by way of a Facebook garage sale site, hubby saw her & told me to figure it out. We brought her home to the farm on the 4th of July, the previous owners said she just turned up gimpy that day. From the looks of her & her leg I knew that wasn't true but knew she needed a good home. The smart dogs make it on the farm, the others make me cuss tree roots while drinking whiskey. Which gets old & why I switched over to blue dogs instead of Vizslas, had one of them in the family since 1976.

Viewing the x-ray it looked like an old compound break midway on the femur but instead of pins & rods the vet used wire coils to secure the bone to heal.

Which will make the removal a little easier & cheaper.

She's almost 11 but even with a bad leg gets out & trees coons with pure pleasure. They are down in the pasture right now raising hell.

Geez Hayseed sounds like u had a real drama going on. Was this kid so upset about getting caught poaching that he wanted to kill himself? Sounds like he needs lots of help.

Good luck with Rosie's leg.

HB, u sound like ur fallin apart!! Hoping they don't find anything seriously wrong with ur kidneys.

Really got humid here this afternoon. Took Chuck's parents out for lunch, then went to drop something off at my mom's on th way home. 81 yrs old picking limbs out of the yd so she can mow with my dad's new Cub Cadet that was delivered the day after his funeral. We stuck around for almost 2 hrs and mowed, but still didn't get it all done. Maybe go back tomorrow, but she said she might try to finish it tonight.

Oh I agree, lol. Hanging & skinning out a buck in August in rural town just isn't a good idea. He is a good kid, dealt a bad hand lately & running with idiots who aren't helping matters.

Sure don't want the state officer out here, said I lived 15 miles to the Northwest.

I'm just a silly woman, get my directions confused all the time.
