FANTASTIC
Bo looked Fantastic tonight. So glad our Swamp is flooded again and I can listen to this hound work a bad track in Black Branch Swamp and come treed with the meat. He struck first off the back of the 4 wheeler so I stopped and cut him. He dropped back down the trail behind me about 30yds and rolled one for 185yds and slammed the tree. Went in and he was on a Tupelo Gum and had a young coon that we left to run again. I walked 50yds and cut him again. He went about 300 and struck another good track and didn't go 100yds and treed. This time he was on a turkey pine but the coon wasn't but half way up laid out on a limb and easily found. Went back to 4 wheeler and rode up the swamp a ways and cut him again. He struck pretty quick but it was a rough track and it was a little slow getting going but he started moving it on out. He was headed back toward the little county road so I rode out to head him off so he wouldn't cross it onto posted land but I was to late. He trailed on in there close to 400yds and located up a couple times but didn't stick. I knew he had hit a good size area of shallow water and he kept working that area over for 20 minutes or so just opening here and there, hunting the tree. Finally he located and I knew from the quiver in his voice he wasn't going anywhere. He rolled it on over and blew the top out. I made my way to him and looked at this coon also. He was up a medium size water oak and I took the picture of BO on it and the Coon's eyes in the tree. We got back to the 4 wheeler and I loaded him up and took the other picture of him with the posted sign in the background that says, NO DOGS. Bo said he wasn't a DOG, he was a COONHOUND! I agreed and we went to the house after a fine night of Good Hunting!!

Steve is sure is nice when it all comes togeather aint it. Sounds like you got ole Bo hitting on all cylinders.
HAPPY VETERANS DAY!!!
From Mason, Beverly and Me, Happy Veterans Day to ALL who have served or that still are serving our Great Country. May God Bless you and your family on this Special Day and every Day! Mason's school put on a special for all the Veterans today and Beverly and I went. It was a great thing to see those kids singing and praising the Vets. It was a good time and I'm proud of him and his classmates, they all did a great job and the Vets had a great time. God Bless America.
MR. Jack, Bo looked pretty good last night thanks to all the good rain we had. That last track was really special and he did a great job treeing that coon. During all that drought I was starting to wonder if he had forgot how to trail a coon but last night he showed me he hadn't. He sure wouldn't make it as a lion hound in dry country but he can get it done belly deep in water. That tree he treed on was on a little knoll that was just above the elevation of the water and was dry around it but not 30' in all directions was flooded swamp. It took him a while to find the tree but he found the right one and that's what counts.

BO
Thanks Darren, that 4 wheeler saves a many a step sometimes. Glad to see you had a great hunt last night and starting to get back in the woods.
Took BO back to Black Branch Swamp last night and it was an ok hunt, just not as good as the night before. I cut him and he struck at near 400 and moved it on out and got near a lake on my Great Uncles place and fell treed. It was almost 1,000 yards to him and all walking. I hit a couple fields that helped but also hit some briar patches that tore my arms up good. Got to him and he was on a bushy water oak and the coon was setting in the top where it had broke out years ago. After a walk like that it sure makes my trigger finger itch but I need to lay off shooting the coon in this swamp unless Bam Bam gets them treed. BO has had plenty and one every month or so is good for him. After I got back to the 4 wheeler I had decided that was enough for one night. 2 hours for one tree but that's how it is sometimes.

BO
Back to Black Branch Swamp Bo and I went tonight. Went a little deeper into the swamp before I cut him and he still went over 600yds before striking. But once struck he moved it on out fast, across a bottom over a hill then back into the swap to come treed at .73miles from where I cut him. I rode and got within 478yds of him then it was walking but it wasn't that bad. Looked and squalled with the red light for a while but he wouldn't look but I found him in the big fork looking straight up. Picture is not the best but he is in the big fork flattened out looking up. Big Coon but I left the gun on the 4 wheeler. Saving these coon for Bam.

PUPS
All pups have been sold. The last one that I called Sassy is headed to Crestview, Florida. Corky picked up the 2 headed to Kentucky the other day and they made it to their new home. I was proud that guys from several different States gave these pups a chance. Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida. It will be fun to hear the updates as these pups develop. Thanks to ALL who bought one and good luck with them. I hope they make both of us Proud.

FLORIDA
We made it to Destin Florida about 11 this morning and stopped by AJ's and ate lunch then got checked in to the motel. Mason has been keeping us busy on the beach and like his Paw Paw he loves to hear the waves crashing on the shore. We love these trips but I must admit every year it gets harder to leave those hounds and the Bogue Chitto River. No place like HOME. But I have family there taking good care of them so that helps a lot. The NASCAR Race on TV today is in rain delay, in the dessert of Arizona. They get less than 10" a year and it waits until race day to deliver. This race will decide the final 4 that will race for the Championship in Miami next weekend. We met the new owners of the last pup we had and got her delivered to them. They are good people and Sassy will have a great home. They said they were going to name her Sassafrass and keep calling her Sassy.

Thanks Scott, here are a few more from today. Sunrise this morning, then having lunch at AJ's again on Destin Harbor, Mason shooting at a shooting gallery and then a picture of a huge Magnolia tree at Destin Boardwalk by AJ's that lived from 1844 to 2014 then died and they had a local chainsaw artist do his thing. Awesome work but a shame it died. I have been coming here since I was 16, usually several times a year and always paused a moment to admire the Ancient Tree.

DISNEY WORLD
We hit Magic Kingdom today. Started early and stayed most of the day. It was Magic at first for Paw Paw and Mason and it was great to see his face when he first saw Magic Kingdom BUT, it faded pretty quick for both of us. People EVERY WHERE and most speak a language other than English. Walk and Walk and Walk. Mason made me Sooo proud on one ride. It was a boat ride on a Steam Boat Paddle Wheel and as we were cruising along he looked up at me and said, " Paw Paw I wish we were on the Bogue Chitto River at HOME. " All I could do was tear up behind my sun shades and say, ME TOO. One thing is for sure in Disney World, if Donald Duck runs out of Quacks all he has to do is look around because there are Plenty here. Mason wanted the cap Gun Rifle and he was the only kid I saw packing and for sure the only kid aiming it at the squirrels and pretending to shoot them. That got us a LOT of ugly looks but no one opened their mouth, lol! People with Green, Orange, Pink or Purple hair and ear rings in their nose, lip, belly or where ever and they are going to look at us like we are the strange ones. Man, this big, goofy world has changed so much. Sickens me to think about it. Mason got tired of the rides and ready to go back to the resort so we did. I know one thing, when Little Levi gets big enough to go to Disney World he will have to sweeten Paw Paw up a LOT to get me back here. I was out of my Comfort Zone Big Time!

MASON
Mason is usually a shy kid around folks he don't know and last year all the camera crews kept trying to get him to talk to them and pose for pictures and he would just duck his head and reach for me to pick him up. But this year he has come around and in this picture he was Rocking his Jimmie Johnson outfit as reporters took pictures. He has it going on as ALL the women just love him to death but if they hang around to long Me Me puts them to stepping before Paw Paw starts trashing, lol!!

BACK HOME
We pulled in at the house at 3pm yesterday evening and got a good welcome from all the hounds and pups. Glad to be home. We had a great time but that will be my last NASCAR RACE to go to and I will not be viewing it on TV anymore either. A once great sport being ruined by Political Correctness and BAD Management with their rules changing all the time. It was great while it lasted and Mason has memories to last a lifetime and so do I. When I watch TV here lately I get sick at all the crap I see and when I opened my DIRECTV Bill this morning they had gone up almost 30 bucks a month. Since I'm not watching NASCAR and I haven't been watching Football the past couple years and the News Stinks and all the Networks like NBC, CBS, ABC, ESPN, ect. are all against Hunters that love GOD and FAMILY but they support liars and thief's on the LEFT but BAD MOUTH anyone to the right. As long as we continue to support them by watching TV we also support HOLLYWOOD who are against all we believe in also. So, with all that on my mind it was EASY to call DIRECTV and tell them EXACTLY why I wanted to be DISCONNECTED!!! Not the high bill, which is a good enough reason, but I will not knowingly support anyone that is against any of my rights or anything I love anymore. Now I have 1,000 more dollars a year to take a trip with my hound and hunt somewhere new and enjoy life instead of sitting on the couch watching something that ticks me off and be dumb enough to pay for it. We as a people are addicted to TV worse than drug addicts are addicted to drugs and Hollywood and the Networks know it and laugh at us as they take away our COUNTRY and Rights. Sorry to get side tracked off hunting onto this but the crap going on in this country just boils my blood. Now I'm down to one bill a month, the light bill. I might put a water wheel in the river to generate electricity and snatch the meter out and tell them to come get it, lol!!
Saw a Big Buck swim the river coming to my side at 9:30am this morning and there was 3 does in the yard so I will be in the stand this evening trying to knock one down. BO and I will be back in the swamp tonight, I have missed it bad this past week. Any road trips in the future will have Ole BO riding with me. Good Hunting Coming!!

BO
Bo and I went to Black Branch Swamp and made two trees under the bright, full moon. Couldn't find the first one but got a peek out of the 2nd one in a big water oak. We left him to run again and came home. First coon BO just fell treed on a big pine and 2nd coon he trailed a cold track for about 300yds before coming treed. The swamp is full of water again and I'm glad. Missed hearing my hound splash off into the darkness.

BO and BAM
Took them down river tonight in the Jet Boat and cut BO across a sand bar toward the woods. I held Bam since its a full moon and I didn't want to take a chance he would run across trash and might like it before they hit a coon. BO struck over 600yds further down river so I took boat on down and pulled in to another sand bar 200yds from him. I cut Bam his way and wasn't long Bam was working the track with BO for another couple hundred yards. It sounded like Bam located once and treed a little but wasn't sure then BO located right by him and blew the top out. I went into them and Bam started treeing a little after I got in there and I hooked them up. Found the coon one time, he looked at me with both eyes the size of dimes and wide apart for about 5 seconds then never looked again. I shook vines and chopped privet hedge for 20 minutes but never could find him again so we loaded up and cruised back up the Bogue Chitto River to the house. Tomorrow I will be putting out a few feeders with dog food so I can hunt Bam alone. Sent BO's money in to UKC the other day and he will be a 2016 Performance Sire.

SPRING WEATHER
The weather has been great the past few days in the mid to upper 70's. Feels like and looks like spring. We have little wild flowers popping up and the old Azalea has blooms on it. The leaves on the trees a month ago were turning brown and falling off due to the drought but once it started raining the others held their leaves and now they are showing some nice colors as you can tell by the cypress with its rust color. We had over 4" of rain while we were gone last week and the river had got up pretty good and washed out these two sinker cypress. Nothing huge but nice easy handling logs that will be fun to get next weekend. About to load BO in the boat and head back down the river to tree a couple and put out a feeder to start working Bam alone on.

JET BOAT HUNTING
Bo and I went down river again in the Jet Boat and got the feeder put out for Bam then went down further and opposite side of river and cut him down an old oxbow of where the river used to run but its just dead water in there now. He went in a couple hundred, crossed a beaver dam, went up the bluff and struck on top. Moved it out pretty good and trailed back down into the cypress bottom, back up a steep hill and over it then came treed in a stand of 12 year old pine. When I made my way in and crossed the beaver dam and got up on the bluff he was still 480yds from me. Got to him and the coon was looking at me coming in and so were 2 more in nearby pines. I petted him up and hooked him and when I turned to walk back to knock the coon out I saw the deer feeder bucket hanging that you can see in the picture of BO with the coon. He did a good job trailing them out of that swamp into the hill of pines to where they were eating up the deer hunters corn. I didn't see a game camera but if they got some pictures they probably appreciate BO and me thinning down the varmints. Made our way back to the boat and called it a night. Good Hunting!

Hunting
Steve,
Nice pictures Steve. Looks like Ol' Bo is getting it done for you. I can tell he is one of your favorites. Our weather has not been as warm but can not complain for this time of year. The nine day gun season ends today and then it is back to the timber with Creek. Looking forward to the trip down to the battle of the breeds in a couple of weeks.
Take Care,
Scott
