Happy Birthday, Rex!

We were out for a few hrs today and didn't set one trap 😞 Chuck told his friend about the fisher tracks so he went there to trap. We went to a place we wanted to trap bobcat and someother people are there so we left.
Making plans with our mom's to take them to the casino later in the wk for their Christmas present so might just wait until after that to set some.

I got skips this yr., don't use guts, drift most of time and rarely anchor, usually can get all the shad I want in the lake, but not big ones for guts, used to get bigger shad, but smaller these days. I will check early this spring to see about skips, was down below Ky. Dam last kw., bought a different boat, have one for sale now, nice boat, alumaweld, all welded, 90 hp johnson 2 stroke, 898 hummingbird locator, trolling motor, trailer has new tires, all in excellent conditions, motor runs great, all welded boat, commercial fisherman ran into while trying the boat said shad and skips have decreased dramatically, thinks asian carp the culprit, will let you know about bait when I check...

Rex, I can't believe u gave up coonhounds and bow hunting and your only 59! We got Ruby from our son 4 yrs ago, when Chuck was 59. You have to do something fun when your retired.
We found some bobcat and coyote tracks today; hope to get traps set on Thursday.

Got a warm spell headed our way ..... I say a big 10-4 !!!!

Posted by Rex W Sims on 12-21-2016 12:09 PM:

Ron the guy I got guts from at ky. dam said the samething about the shad.he said when the Asian carp showed up at the dam.the shad were done.let me know on the skips Ron,thanks...Ridge, I bowhunted for 40 years .in that 40 years I never missed an opening morning.i ate, thought ,and slept bowhunting but when the thrill left me .it was over.there is no excitement in killing a deer anymore for me.dont know what happened it just came to a end .the coonhunting is ,I just caint walk and cover the ground anymore. I still like going once in awhile.Iam off to trim out a couple doors today and trim out a window. you all have a good day...

Was checking forecast earlier....hope to get out tomorrow night with the dogs if we can still walk. We set 4 traps this Am, then I had to come home to go to PT. Chuck went back out, but he said things didn't go well and he only got 4 more set. Tomorrow, after we check what we have out; we hope to get to our hot spot (long walk) where we caught the fisher and bobcat last yr.

Posted by Rex W Sims on 12-23-2016 01:54 PM:

we had two dandy races last night..first tree she had 4 coons.the rut is on here..the boy want to give her one so I told him to shoot the lower coon out..just my luck it was a sow...turn loose again.another good race and ended with three in the tree..we caught her up and came home..not a bad hunt .I was home by 10:30...

Threw the Garmin on Pic & let her go find what the blue girls were raising cane about last night after work. Rose & Grace slinked back to the house so Lucy, Pic, old Cin & I went hunting. We ended up at a den tree & I dropped 3 before running out of ammo. The wheels clicked into place for Pic & she went crazy over the last coon.

HB hope your Uncle gets to feeling better!
