I see, I'll try that Buddy gave me the ham off one he killed last night, I'm gona try and make jerky with it in a dehydrator that I have. I'f I like it thinking of killing a deer myself and doing the whole thing. Got any recipe secrets or tips for making jerky, that you're willing to share???

TRAVIS,CHILL THE MEAT THEN SLICE INTO 1/8 TO1/4 INCH THICK STRIPS,BUY NESCO ORIGINAL JERKY MIX AT WALMART,PACKAGE OF MIX AND CURE PER POUND,COMES IN 6 PACK PACKAGES,MIX JERKY AND MIX IN LARGE BOWL,COVER AND REFRIGERATE FOR 24 HOURS,DRY ON HIGHEST SETTING IN DEHYDRATER,TIME OF DRYING WILL BE ACCORDING TO AMOUNT OF JERKY,I HAVE USED SEVERAL RECEIPES OVER THE YEARS ,BOUGHT AND HOMEMADE AND THIS IS MY FAVORITE.TAKE CARE AND ENJOY THE JERKY.THE WOMEN DONT LIKE THE BONE IN THE MOUTH,IT MESSES UP THE ROMANCE,LOL.

I understand that bone thing turning the wife off, but you never know til you try......my wife might like it

I use an American harvester 10 trays,8 to 10 trays loaded 6 hours to 8 hours.less trays less time.the best way is to put it on when you will be home several hours and watch it to make sure you don't overdry.you want it pliable but not hard.dry on highest setting.when dry wipe jerky with paper towels to remove moisture,put in sealed baggies and keep in bottom of refrigerator,stays fresh a long time that way.enjoy my friend.

Dan, Jerky turned out great! I had some jerky seasoning that I bought last year, I had forgot. The wife reminded me It's sweet and spicy flavor. I got a 4 tray dehydrator, put it in for 5 hours and it was GOOOOOOD!!!

YOU'RE WELCOME TRAVIS,GLAD IT TURNED OUT GOOD.I DONE THE HINDQUARTER'S OF A BIG DOE I TOOK IN LATE MUZZLELOADER,TIME THE GRANDKIDS MADE A PASS AND THE WARDEN GOT A COUPLE BAGS ,ALL GONE AS OLD INDIAN WOULD SAY

I ain't much on deer meat but this jerky is doable...think I might shoot one next year and do a bunch of jerky! Able to use a rifle here in KY so that makes it easy compared to IN shot gun/ muzzle loader! Thanks again buddy!!!

What you marinate it in before wrapping it in bacon and cooking?
