Yes, he dyes and waxes them. The biggest difference in the 2 traps they came near and didn't get caught and the one trap we had one in is the latter we used dry dirt to cover. The other 2 were more for fisher and bobcat so we used buckwheat hulls and peat moss. When we set more we're just going to use dry dirt.

Almost got the dogs out tonight. We walked out the door and it was sprinkling and getting windy so we came back in and took their collars off. Ruby wasn't too happy. Gave them all treats to make them feel better.

Ridge I use dry dirt ,I put a piece of wax paper under the trap ,it helps with keeping the moisture from coming up through the ground and turning my dry dirt to mud...well we had a good hunt last night.man all the critters were out moving .seen coons deer a fox [he crossed the road on our way to turn loose] couple of possums and a couple otter...we made three trees and seen 5 coon..and 6 more sitting up...we parked on a road that's maybe 15feet from the river bank.we were loading up to move to a new spot..loaded the dog, talked ,slammed the truck doors getting in ,fired up the truck turned the lights on and no more than 30 feet away were two otters playing around in the road...I figured they would have spooked off, they didn't seem to care we were there at all....we made that move at around ten oclock, the truck said the temp. was 61 degrees...

Rex, u must have read the same book Chuck did on trapping. We use the wax paper, too. Think the dry dirt could be a good part of it. Guess we'll find out when we set more. Yrs ago, when he first got into fox trapping; we always used dry dirt. We just started using buckwheat hulls and peat moss when we got back into trapping a couple of yrs ago.

It rained all day here. New lakes and ponds everywhere....including on the roads. They have flash flood warnings up. No hunting again for ys. Sounds like u had a nice hunt, Rex. We have an otter visit our pond a couple times a yr. Its cute to watch, it keepa the dogs entertained, but the last time it was here, it killed a big bass and one of our 20+ yr old Japanese Kois😞

Chuck's aunt passed away earlier this wk, so we went to the viewing tonight. In less than a yr, my dad, 2 of his aunts and an uncle have passed away.

I was hoping to take the dogs out tonight, but Chuck is glued to the TV (football games).

We went to a Sportmens show today. The Allegheny River is HIGH!! Yards are ponds, one place the pool and orchard are in a lake. The Nebraska bridge near us is almost underwater. U can see the top of it, but there's a sign that hangs down with the clearance on it; it's 13'?" and the sign is underwater! We've seen it completely under, but not for awhile.

I sampled Cajun Alligator and Kangaroo jerky at the Sportsmen's show. They were ok, but bought a duck stick and a bottle of wine. Sure that won't help my acid reflux either, but I'll deal with it. I never had it until I started taking a statin drug for cholesterol. Think it might be better to have high cholesterol.

I'm feelin a little better this evening, we've had a busy week here and I've felt crappy all through it . First we put my brother-in-law in a rest home , then we won our appeal on my ins. saving me 322.00 a month increase ,then my my wife had a couple biopsies ran on her ,,in and out the same day . But she has more coming up .
