Pup Report.

Ryan Castleberry wrote this to me:

"Castleberry's mad dog drum treed with shaker Friday night and Saturday night, 4 coons total, took over 30 minutes to get to them Friday night and treed hard the whole time, I've got high hopes for him, not bad for a 9 month old pup"

Drum is off the Toby x Sally cross. Ryan has done an excellent job with him. I am so happy for them.

Thanks for the calls. We will be done with all the football activities Tuesday night. Looking forward to being on a normal schedule. Tyler made 1st team all conference and the team won the overall championship Friday and finished undefeated. It was a season that will be hard to duplicate. Congratulations to the entire team. It was one of those special years.

Two of the last three pups from the Toby x Bee litter sold today. That leaves one female. Both pups stayed here locally and went to two local hunters because of the reputation of the hounds. One was a Black and Tan man and the other was a walker man. That is always fun to put blues in the hands of those that hunt other breeds. The hounds really speak for themselves. That leaves on female.

Thanks Guys

Daniel Lutz came by last week. He got one of the females off Toby and Bee. His report was interesting. The pup was 3 months old (4months now) and he had been working with her a couple of weeks. He said she started treeing drags easily. He stated she is now treeing release coon. I was like really? Then he showed me a video. He said she slicked once but stayed hooked. I told him picking a tree and staying hooked at that age was not a bad thing. He was really happy with her. I guess she must be a natural. Daniel signed up this week and should be on to tell about his pup soon. He is mostly a pleasure hunter that has hunted Black and Tans. I am excited to watch these pups progress. Thanks to everyone who helped put these crosses together.

Toby is a performance sire for 2014.

The last Toby x Bee pup is sold. A man that was around a couple of the others liked what he saw and decided he wanted one.

I am really looking forward to the Cowboy x Sally cross. There are several great crosses being made in the bloodline at the moment. JMO

We wish everyone a happy new year and hope everyone has a great 2014. Thanks to all that promote blues.

Lance, I agree with you 100%. There are some exciteing crosses getting ready to hit the ground and some waiting to be made as soon as they come in heat. I believe 2014 will be a great year for produceing a new generation of coondogs to promote in the hunts. We all are striveing to produce a better blue.
When are you guys thinking about comming to Mo? I dont want to miss seeing you when you come.
Cant wait to see the Cowboy X Sally cross made. That will be a great cross.

After Hutch's suggestion and talking to Tim a while back we have one more cross to announce. Nitech Grch Mad Dog Glo 911 will be bred to Quad Grand Mad Dog Psycho Sid this Spring.

I have gotten calls and Pm's from four people interested in mad dog pups the last two days. Two were people who had been around pups down here others had. It seems the pups are satisfying pleasure and competition hunters and showing a lot of tools in their tool boxes (as I like to say) I am really excited about many of the crosses being made. Word of mouth and hunting these hounds is by far the best advertisement. It is exciting to see people wanting blues in there kennels. Thanks to all the team for their hard work and dedication to keeping the breed moving forward.

Roy, I totally agree and am so proud of what you guys are accomplishing. We are all going to have many options for future breedings. I certainly like the thinking out of the box to do anything to improve the breed and keep progressing to better hounds.

Brian Pierson is also making some very good crosses on Ranger and Astro. All of the crosses made in 2013 and 2014 will be playing a big part in the accomplishments in 2015 and 2016. The crosses made in 2011 and 2012 are starting to make their mark in 2013 and 2014..........Tim
