Looks as if Trump will be impeached not once but Twice. He will the only President to ever accomplish this and rightfully so. Taking the do nothing Republican Senate out of the picture things move along.

I’m praying that we are witnessing the demise of the Republican party. I’m also praying that the end of the Democratic party is close on its tail. Political parties are the primary reason why the promise of democracy has not been fulfilled. They have solidified the winner-take-all system we suffer through, where the only people who are ever truly satisfied are the politicians themselves. They are the reason we can’t get rid of corruption, divisive campaigning and lobbyists. They are the reason that no matter where you live, nearly half of your neighbors feel they’re not represented. They are the root of the polarization and hatred.

Political parties only seek electoral wins and sustained power. They form their platforms to pander to those who are passionate about specific issues, and to secure their votes, with no thought to an overarching philosophy – or even a real vision or end game to secure one. A person passionately against abortion is forced to vote for someone who believes the wealthy should pay no taxes and that industry can freely destroy the environment. A person passionate about expanding individual freedom and ensuring fairness in the justice system is forced to vote for someone who supports ideological censorship, cancel culture and universal “political correctness” - not acknowledging that something that may be inappropriate to say in a workplace meeting, or a Sunday school, can be just fine in a comedy club or an intellectual forum.
Is it right that conservatives in California have no real representation? Is it right that progressives in Indiana have no real representation? Both those unrepresented groups still pay taxes. Didn’t we fight a war over just such an issue?

Fantasize with me for a moment… imagine that in every congressional district, the representative or senator’s voting record matched up with the political demographic of his/her constituents, rather than simply voting with the party 99% of the time. Would you be more satisfied with a slow, steady march toward the will of the people, or with the current 4 to 8-year cycle of lurching between political extremes? Would you accept disagreeing with your representative a good portion of the time if his record showed that ALL his constituents were being proportionately represented? Would you vote for an unaffiliated candidate who promised to do just this if you currently live in a district where your political party is the majority?

States likely saw roughly the same number of individuals file for first-time unemployment benefits last week as during the prior week, with the weekly pace of new jobless claims easing slightly from December’s elevated levels.

The U.S. Department of Labor is set to release its weekly report on new jobless claims Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. ET. Here were the main results expected in the report, compared to consensus estimates compiled by Bloomberg:

Initial jobless claims, week ended Jan. 9: 789,000 expected vs. 787,000 during the prior week

Continuing claims, week ended Jan. 2: 5.000 million expected vs. 5.072 million during the prior week

New initial unemployment claims are expected to dip below 800,000 for a third straight week, showing signs of a tentative return to a downtrend after claims spiked throughout much of December. Initial jobless claims have stayed below the 1 million mark in every week since late August, after peaking at a record nearly 7 million in March.

“Recent jobless claims data suggest December may mark the trough in recent labor market weakness, particularly with additional fiscal support in the pipeline,” Nomura Chief Economist Lewis Alexander said in a note. “However, significant downside risks for the labor market will persist until the pandemic comes more under control in the U.S.”

While both new and continuing jobless claims have eased significantly from their pandemic-era highs, both remain well above levels from before the pandemic, when new jobless claims were averaging at just over 200,000 per week and continuing claims were coming in well below 2 million. And last week’s December jobs report showed that the U.S. economy was still about 9.8 million payrolls short of its February levels, with a still-elevated unemployment rate and depressed labor force participation rate. Though the vaccine rollout and additional fiscal stimulus may have alleviated some of the pressure, some economists are bracing for a multi-year recovery in the labor market.

“Weekly jobless claims were 787,000 to start the new year for the January 2 week which indicates the recession in the labor market isn’t over yet and hardship remains for millions of Americans without paychecks,” Chris Rupkey, chief financial economist for MUFG Union Bank, said in a note.

Based on last week’s data, more than 19 million Americans were still claiming unemployment benefits of some form, including 12.9 million individuals on pandemic-era federal unemployment programs.

Trump has even seen a decline among his once heralded base. His approval rating with Republicans has dropped into the mid-high 70s in the average poll taken over the last week. Better be thinking about taking all , half ,or some of your gains and putting in a safer place . It is probably going to tank as soon as the dollar gets devaluated from all the RAT spending gets started

Bill Gates has been very, very quitely selling his Microsoft stock and buying land. He just secretly bought a $161 million farm in Washington State. I wonder if he knows something that we don't? After all, he is a pretty smart guy when it comes to money management and I am sure gets some inside info from time to time.
