MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Keep that camera handy... looking forward to so CHRISTMAS pics.
I envy the fact that you take the little extra time to document some of the special things in your life and share them... like the pics of the eagles, jet boat rides, your dogs and spending time with Mason..
I'm sure you are as busy as most.....The rest of us would do well to slow down and enjoy things.. not just rush-rush-rush.
Good luck with everything in the future and pray that everything with you Mother goes according to God's will.

ROCKET THE RACOON
Twas the night before Christmas and under a full Moon,
Not a creature was stirring except Rocket the Racoon.
The light of the Moon had other critters scared to move about,
But I ain't no coward Rocket would Shout!
As he made his way down Black Branch Swamp,
He thought of the years that had passed and miles he had tromped.
Since he was just a little kitten coon born in a hollow corner fence post,
He was the Sow's favorite and she fed him the most.
Rocket grew and grew until he was the biggest coon in the woods,
Learned every trick to outwit the hounds and tree him they never could.
But there was a man and his hounds that lived on the Bogue Chitto River,
That had a hound that located with a Bawling Quiver.
Word on the Street and in the woods was he could tree Any Coon,
I'm to smart for that Ole Bluetick thought Rocket the Racoon.
Off in the distance he heard the 4 wheeler then silence as the Hunter parked,
Not long after came the Raging Bawls as Mr. Bojangles barked.
He had picked up Rockets trail the coon knew for sure,
Because where Bo opened Rocket had searched for food but only found a fishing lure.
Not really scared but out of respect for the reputation of this hound,
Rocket picked up the pace heading for a tree where he had never been found.
Reaching the Huge Turkey Pine he sank his sharp claws deep in the bark,
Up he went to his hiding place as he listened to the hounds bawls off in the dark.
Closer and Closer they came until he heard why all other coons were hid in fear,
That Long, Quivering Bawl that let the Hunter know the Coon is Here!
Rocket listened to the hounds Raging Bawls from way down below,
Then shut his eyes as the Hunters light lit up the tree with a Glow.
It wasn't a few minutes but seemed like a long time,
Rocket heard a Click, Pop, then close to his head a Whine.
He knew he was found so swung down on a limb and hung, looking straight into the Hunters Eyes,
Then dropped to the ground far below before the Hunter got another try.
Off he ran in the darkness feeling fear from his toes to his cheeks,
Racing through the Swamp under Briars and across creeks.
Headed home to a hollow tree near the hollow fence post,
Knowing if he didn't make it he would only be a Ghost.
One mile of running faster than he had ever been,
He reached the safety of his big old Den.
Mr. Bojangles wasn't far behind and slammed the tree with that Quivering Bawl,
Roaring his Rage so loud that a half mile away it echoed off a barn wall.
The Hunter reached the tree on this night before Christmas under the Full Moon,
And knew that him and his favorite hound had been beat by Rocket the Racoon.
As he pulled Bo off the Old Den Tree,
I heard him say, " Merry Christmas! " and knew he was talking to me!
Ho, Ho, Ho!!
BO, Bo, Bo!!

That's good Steve, I enjoyed that.
STUCK ON CHRISTMAS EVE
First time I EVER stuck the Artic Cat but that's what I did tonight in Flooded Black Branch Swamp. My 4 wheel drive still don't work because I'm waiting on the part to come in so I got a good excuse. It was raining a little and more coming but I decided to go anyway so loaded up Stormy and Bam. Didn't never cut them loose. After I got stuck I texted Beverly who was at her Family doing Christmas and Asked her to come pull me out with the winch on her 4 wheeler when she got home. Lucky for me she was already on the way home and in just a little while she and the Honda was there for the rescue. As I was running her winch out to hook to my 4 wheeler I was thinking I sure must be a Redneck to be stuck deep in the swamp on Christmas Eve that is flooded without 4 wheel drive working OR a dang winch while my wife has a fine Warn Winch on that Honda I bought her for Christmas last year. She had wanted a Diamond Ring but got the 4 wheeler BUT, this year I got her that ring and had already give it to her or me and those hounds might still be stuck! lol!

Steve, she got the diamond ring, but I think you got the real gem when you married her.
GEM
Your right, she is a Gem. I can ALWAYS count on her if needed. Christmas day I was riding the 4 wheeler on the sand bar and was thinking about it not working in 4 wheel drive. Back in the day sometime my old truck starter wouldn't spin so you get out and tap on it with a hammer or something and it would work. With that thought in mind I got off the 4 wheeler and knocked on the part they will be replacing then flipped the 4 wheel drive switch and it buzzed as it engaged 4 wheel drive. Been working fine since. Wish I would have thought of that when I was stuck and I bet she does too!
Got stuck Christmas Eve and time I got out it was raining good so didn't hunt. Was going Christmas night and Saturday night but same story, Rain. Hopefully will get to put Stormy and Bam in the woods tomorrow night. All weekend I had a couple of live traps set trying to catch a couple coon to cut loose for Bam at night but all I caught was 4 possums. They should be thinned out now so I can maybe catch a few coon.

BACK AT IT!!!
Finally got back to hunting tonight! Seems like its been forever with BO laid up and all the rain. Took Bam and Stormy to Haunted House Bottom first tonight and cut them where I had put a feeder several weeks ago but haven't been to fill it back up and it was empty but Bam struck a track and worked it up the creek for almost 300yds before Ole Mama started putting in. They trailed on a couple hundred more and I rode closer on the 4 wheeler. When I stopped they both were locating up but wouldn't lock it down. I was within a hundred yards so I sat tight and waited. Bam ended up coming out on the little gravel road so I caught him up then in a little bit Stormy came close enough I caught her up and we went to Black Branch Swamp. It was flooded and hadn't all drained out but I cut them any how. Stormy opened at about 90yds and moved out opening every now and then going to the left. Bam opened a little further in a couple times but didn't go her way instead he moved his track a little deeper then hushed for a minute. Stormy had got her track up and moving pretty good and was about 400yds down the creek when Bam located at 137yds and sounded like a Fog Horn going off. He rolled it on over and got to treeing and I took off to him. There was at least 6" of water everywhere. I took a video as I came into the tree that I will post in a bit. As you can see in the video it was a lot of water and he was winding up but got on a tree and I hooked him there. I found the coon 3 trees over, about 30' away. Still VERY PROUD of this 6 month old pup to tree a coon in these conditions. After I hooked him up and loved him up he really got to hammering. I petted on him a while and didn't want to quit listening to him tree but knew I better so we got on out of there and went and looked at Stormy's coon and came home. She done a fine job on hers but it just ain't the same as when a pup like Bam is trying to put it all together and ends up under one. Hard to get excited no matter how fine a job the Ole Mama done but when these pups tree, Don't get in my way! Good Hunting!

Home of some future hopefuls.....
Congratulations, Steve. That's quite a job for one so young.
MOM
Thanks Guys. Bam shows he has the tools now he just needs to learn to use them to the best of his ability and breeding and that just takes time and boot leather. I can't take Any credit for how he is doing or how he will turn out, that goes to the men and hounds behind him in his pedigree. People like Ed Mauney, Mike Lovecamp, Terry Tucker, Frank Erwin, ect. and on and on.
My Mom just had her surgery and all went well but it is Cancer and the Mass was attached to the bladder. The Dr. feels real good that he got it all and that its a good chance its curable with Chemo but Mom had already said she wasn't doing Chemo at her age unless chances are greatly in her favor. She is in recovery and they will tell her all this later today when she has woke up good. Thanks for all your prayers.

HUNTING
Happy New Year to everyone! Hope 2016 is your best year ever! I just got in from hunting Bam alone for a couple drops. First turnout he went down the creek almost 400yds before coming back without a strike. Next drop he struck at 78yds and moved it out a couple hundred yards then went to baying. I went in to him and he had his head in a hole in the ground. I had a good talk with him and told him only people who vote Democrat live with their head stuck in a hole in the ground pretending all is well in their Wonderland. That a Bluetick as smart as he is should have better sense than that. I think he got the message. Guys, This Year, 2016, will probably be the worst year America has ever seen. The King that lives in the White House is determined to destroy America as we know it. He has already done a pretty good job But we ain't seen Nothing Yet! I bet starting next week he will be signing Executive Orders every week for the rest of his term. Its going to get ugly. Be Prepared.
I didn't hunt last night because I killed another deer right at dark and by the time I got done cleaning it and deboning all the meat and putting it away it was getting a little late so I got lazy and stayed home. Took that meat to the slaughter house at lunch today and picked up the other that they had ready. I told Beverly that with the cold dreary weather and the rut in full swing that I would bet we might see a buck on the way and sure enough about 10 minutes later we spotted a big one cruising the edge of a field with his head stretched out and low, tracking a doe. It was 12:00 noon. We ate fresh Back Strap and Tenderloin for supper and greens out of the garden. Living off the land, don't get much better! Bo will be back in action tomorrow night. His toe don't bother him at all so its time to get him tuned back up for the Classic.

You got that right about lefties, bums and sand, Steve. Hope your mom licks the cancer.
Glad to hear Bo will be back at it soon. Wolf has been on a tear. I'll try him in some hunts soon.
Bam!
He looks good Steve! Glad to hear about your mom doing well. Hope that continues. Happy New Year and me and Big Country will see you in a couple of weeks.

BO is BACK!!!
Bo looked good tonight and I feel the meds he has been on for the past 3 weeks has him back to 100 percent. I didn't hunt him last night because Mason was here for the night and he wanted me to watch a movie with him, well, some things are more important than Coon Hunting so we watched Where The Red Fern Grows and he loved it. Tonight I took Bo to Black Branch Swamp and boy was he ready to go. Within 5 minutes of being cut in that wet swamp he struck at 675 yards, smoked a track and slammed the tree at 903yds. His echo's were sounding good in the swamp tonight! I have missed my buddy. I was riding to him and was about half way when I came up on the deer hunters that I lease this with. One of them had shot a buck and they were blood trailing him. The guy told me they were concentrating on every little drop of blood and all of a sudden they heard crashing and limbs popping coming at them out of the dark and he told his Son to get ready, here comes your Buck! About that time Bo blew by them 20' away, scared the heck out of them! And he just kept on trucking. This was before he had struck and they had no idea I was in there hunting. Thank goodness they are country folks and seasoned hunters or Ole Bo might have got shot. They were thinking the wounded Buck was charging them in the dark. I left them and headed on to Bo and he was treed on a huge oak and the coon was straight up over me laid flat on the naked limbs looking up. I took this video and if you look close you can see the coon. I cut him two more times and he fell treed at 300yards with another coon and didn't strike on the last drop and I caught him up crossing a gravel road. He was some happy to be back at it and so was I. Bam's turn tomorrow night.
