Jim, Ol' Slew is in shape and ready, he's been chasing yotes most everyday here, most of my females are in heat now, so Slew and the young hounds are getting run hard. Squaw looked good on her first yote, I have high hopes for her this winter. Your welcome to come for a hunt if you get a chance, Mike

This is my next big project.he acts real good MOSQUITO CREEK TREE DADDY`S ICON.that`s what i`m thinking about calling him.he has a beautiful bawl mouth and sure can let it out for a young guy.

Matt, nice looking pup! I like the name too. I saw where you named one of your pups "Super Bee", thats what I named my Slew x Diamond female! I think mine was born first!LOL I told Amanda, "great minds think alike", I got the eye roll and a smart comment!

Matt, are there any littermates to Andrea's Spot? Or was he the only pup from that cross? Mike

Thanks for the info Matt, I often thought if a guy could get his hands on a littermate to Spot it would interesting to see what they would reproduce, especially with Spot having thrown such nice hounds out of Coco, who was a good one herself. Did you ever have any semen on your old Hank dog? Mike

I tried to track them down to.I know Spot started quick 5 months old and in three drops was running and treeing good on his third drop.I had three males all the same age Spot,Tree Daddy and a male named Gunner.all were out of my ol Hank.Spot could smell a track from yesterday.alot of nose for where I live.it would be nice to come up with another hound from a different mating out of spot.I`ve thought about breeding Jim`s Blue Fly on Little Blue.I think this would be a good cross to try.

I met up with Ted Larger and Tom Jennings last night we had a good hunt.we made a few trees and Ted was handling kidd and I had Country and Tom had Legend.Legend is getting back in shape.it sure is nice turning three real nice hounds loose at the same time.alot of action and good hound work.

QUESTIONS AND THANKING ABOUT BREEDING LOU.

I have had great success raising pups from Lou.I`ve been getting calls from guys hunting hounds off of her and Stinger.I know the ones that have been fooled with early and often are making good ones.from cat bear coyotes and coon.they are turning heads.when I hear the guys talking about the tracking ability of these hounds not even turning 2 and being the main dog in a pack running out front,with the company of fox hounds and running walkers that were bred for running.guys say they never seen a bluetick run at this speeds before.I`ve bred Lou to Legend and these young hounds are turning the crank also.I`ve been trying to figure out who to breed her to next.I`ve thought about.
1 Tree Daddy
2 Legend
3 Stinger
Every body that knows me I love a track hound and it looks like Lou is reproducing the right kind. Dave Smith in NY has a real nice male named Barker that is a track driving fool he was treed .9 miles away and you can hear him like he was right in your face. ran this cat close to 5 miles on the garmin.Barker has been run on coon bear and cats with great success.Jason Harding in Grayling Mi. has a male he calls Hoss that he run`s on coyote and he says he is very fast. Mike Fairchild has one named Angel he runs her on coon and was a natural from the start.
I`m hearing of and have hunted with some nice young hounds out of Legend and Lou.its really a hard choice for me to chose who to breed her to I have hunters wanting pups from both litters.Tree Daddy isn`t getting any younger and neither is Lou.good reproducing females are hard to find but it looks like Lou is a good one.I`ll make my mind up in the morning.
My friend Don H. from Wis.is here this weekend so I`ll try and keep him out of trouble.I`m sure he`ll have a truck load of hounds to bring back to wis.LOL

Ole Lou & track speed

I will second that motion Matt! The Image pup of Tom's from the Legend x Lou cross can move out on a track. That little sucker puts his heart into it. When he is opening on a running track it almost sounds like a frustration squall because he wants to go even harder! I've seen him flat cover the real estate in a short amount of time by himself while in some big corn fields at the ripe old age of 10 months. Come to think of it, when he explodes on a tree after driving one out of the corn like that doesn't sound too bad either! LOL

I wish you the best of luck which ever way you decide to go on a stud & while whelping/raising a healthy litter.

I bred Lou yesterday to TREE DADDY.It was a tough decision.She is no doubt a good reproducing female.Her littermate`s are reproducing also.It was hard with Legend down the road and that cross is clicking with Legend and Turbo Blue being out of Tree Daddy I had to give Tree Daddy a little credit.with Tree Daddy not being a Nt Ch or Gr Nite he has not been given to much thought of getting bred to.so that played big on me going to him instead of Legend.Like I said he is the one tied behind the barn.the one that is not getting looked at, that is getting the job done.
Why is it when the conditions get tough the phone rings and the bear,cat and coyote hunters are all talking about Stinger`s off spring.here is another a good hound not getting any attn.mabe because I don`t advertise. I`m here to tell you both of these hounds are putting the right kind of hounds in the timber.

As far as the getting qulified for the world hunt any body that knows me I really could care less who win`s the world hunt.Last year I went to one qulifier.A score dog hound isnt what i`ve been trying to breed for and I know thats the name of the game. I have two that I may try to get qulified.I`m not the best handler,I know it takes two its a team.I messed up last night in a hunt.If I get one qulified I`ll go as far as we can go.one cast at a time.
This year the World Hunt is here in Ohio.If you can make it to the finals,be ready for corn field races and you may want to have a hound that can work the Oaks.its gonna take both to win it IMO. Its gonna take a good hound and good handling skills to win it.either way who ever win it will be well deserving of the title...............Take Care

glad to hear your are thinking of trying for the world just was hoping your dogs are not the kind that look good on the computer night after night they know where to go and hit a coon in places they are hunted in night after night different parts of the country makes it a bit more intersting have a nice day . enuff said

Yea they look good enough for me to feed them and thats really all that matters.I was looking at the Vacation book and all of sept is full.even if I do get qulified I`ll have to try and make a trade to see if somebody would back out for me.I have 24 years in our company and I`m in a department with alot of senority.I`ll assure you one thing these hounds are computer hounds they look good most of the time when ever I want to bragg and lie about them most of all in the timber.You have a open invite to come and watch mine go and make your own opinion.if you make the trip bring yours I like to see different hounds go. so I can form my own opinion also.nothing to hide here. warmed up here should be a good night to hunt.

I did manage to squeez in time to make the mating of Lou and Tree Daddy one more time.I wasn`t going to raise but one litter this year and already working on my 2nd litter.LOLSo guys if yur interested in one of these let me know for they may not last long.I`ve made contact with several people with pups out of Lou before this cross was made.

Nothing to hide here some guys love the hunts some guys take them with a grain of salt.bring Hub up before the finals and run him a night or two before the big dance and we`ll try and put you in some patch woods.Gotta go.

Ol STINGER DOES IT AGAIN.

Just to let everybody know Stinger has sired 7 good looking puppies. 4 females and 3 males all look like they have good color and Jim`s Fly is doing a outstanding job raising them.I`ll keep everybody updated.

Good to be back in the Freezer.

I`m just getting back from the winter classic.Congrats to Tom Jennings on getting high score male Bluetick with Legend.
Congrats to all the winners and a good showing of the blue hounds sure is nice to see everybody again.
I didn`t do any good with Country.I just wanted to give a short update and bring my thread back to the top.The weather was great.I did get a burn on my neck and I really enjoyed the break and the short sleave weather.Good seeing and meeting everybody.
Now on a sad note NITECH CH`PR`BAKERS MOSQUITO CREEK STINGER has expired thur the night saturday night.It was a tough ride home sunday knowing what was in store for me.He looked to be in good shape and it was just his time.Thanks to all that gave him a chance and I know he has left a great impression on the Bluetick breed.

Slew's Yote

Hey Matt, heres a couple pics of Slew's yote we caught a couple days ago, a nice 40lb female. It's been really cold here the last couple weeks, most days we barely get into the single digits with our coldest night being -34 below! Mike

Mike you would`ve loved that 70 degree weather in Ga. we lost one of the male puppies overnight.They all are looking healthy. What a storm we have plenty of ice and wind.I just went out and checked on the hounds.they are doing good.I fed Fly again and she is doing a real good job with the pups.They looked like they doubled in size since yesterday. Fly ate her food and bam she had those puppies real close to her.I had to put a tarp in front of her kennel the wind is coming straight toward her door.My phone has been ringing allnight and its been a real pleasure talking hounds with everybody.If anybody has updated pictures please put them on we all enjoy looking at them.Mike Fairchild you sure have a good looking hound in Slew plenty of guys talking about him.I`ve told everybody about his cold nose and track speed.good to see your using him.I can only imagine how well he works for you.sounds like Jason Harding has a fast male off of Stinger and Lou he uses for yotes also.These Michigan guys sure are getting into the Yotes and are hard hunters.I`ll post some pictures of the pups real soon.

Matt, I hope you and your family weather the storm alright, its going to miss us up here, might pick up a little snow. Thanks for the nice comment on Slew, he is a good one for sure, and you get all the credit, that was a great cross and I bet the new pups will as good or better! I've got good reports on Slews first litter, I've heard from all but one owner that their pups started early and are running and treeing, three are in canada and are running yotes well, not bad for 8 month old pups. I got Angel tied with Slew a few times so I'm hoping for pups the end of march, I need a few males here so I'm not short on hounds when all my females cycle at the same time! Stay warm, Mike

I'm sorry for your loss.I am glad that I've had the chance to own 2 by Stinger.Stinger was bred right and I know he reproduced the right kind for coon and other game.
Enjoyed talking to you last night.Joey and I made 1 turn out with Dixie last light.She made quick work of the track and treed with 1 on the outside.When we were headed back to the truck the rain got us but it wa fun with some good dog work from 1 of my favorite females.
I am breeding Dixie to the Tramp son I just got.
Again I'm sorry for your loss but I know you got Country coming on strong.
