It looks like she's taking to inside pretty well Scott...she'll probably want a place at the table pretty soon.

I hope you guys survived the blast OK, I know it was pretty wicked in your part of the state.

EZ

Looks like she is living a dogs life. That's what you call placing a dog right. Good luck with her Scott. Liked the guy shooting vido you sent me. Dave

Posted by 1deadeye on 02-02-2011 04:28 PM:

Well, we survived. I had to drag the dogs out to their kennels this morning. They all had the brakes locked going out the door. GOOFS!!!
Now for the fun part. More blowing. At least the wind died and it's actually nice out.
Thanks for the compliment Dave. My philosophy is a heathy dog is a cheap dog. I have a vid.. of EZ chopping on the tree from last Sat. But can't get it to upload. I dropped the camera while I was filming. Thinking it shocked the sd card when it hit the ground.
She sounds nice from what you can hear. Tater was drowning her out and he was still in his kennel . That boy's got a mouth... I'll work EZ today and put Tater away so you can hear her.
I thought the best part of that video Dave was him reloading the clip.

Lion race

That's almost too much excitement for an old fart like me to stand...nah...I can stand it. Great video Mark, that's about as good as it gets. There just can't be too many better ways to spend a day of hunting.

It looked like most of those younger dogs got a look so that should fire them up...eh?

Great stuff!

I can't wait to see a picture of Sally's gals on a tree!

Posted by topdog on 02-04-2011 03:12 PM:

Good stuff

Great pictures guys, it looks like it was a fun night. Richard, I saw those pictures of Moose and Tom on the tree and they look real good...I was kind of wondering how that swap was going to turn out...I know that Buck and Mike and the boys have some pretty good male blood sitting in the yard already so it's pretty hard to turn down a great looking female prospect when she comes along...eh?

I like the looks of Tom Tom a lot, he's got good, long legs and a great body style for a big dog. He has always reminded me more of Rabble Rouser in his structure than any of the others but he sure takes after Haze as far as being put up right.

Looking at how Sally is put together and what she has to offer, it is a very good fit for how Haze and Rabble are put together and she should go down as one of the real good reproducing females as time progresses.

Aother thing that came to mind is that the Ace dog that Woofter has down in Ohio, is also built to reproduce and early indications are that he's putting some real good characteristics into his pups. Ace was a real sensible pup that had very little time for puppy things...he was always wanting to be in the middle of what ever the big dogs were doing. He has a great mouth, is good looking with a real nice color and he's put up real good. Based off what the pups from the Cherry cross are doing, I can see Ace in all of them so it suggests that he could be another dominant reproducer. Ace is a young hound yet but he was tracking and treeing his own coons since 8 months of age and and he came from one of my favorite crosses out of Yank and Angel, which is also a double Rat cross out of Rabble Rouser and Spice. Anyway, I thought I'd mention it here because Ace is a very strong line bred hound that is located in the middle of the country so is more accessible than some.

Looking at what Haze is reproducing from a few different crosses, I think folks have a great opportunity to take advantage of another very strong line bred male that for sure has something to offer our breed. Where Haze is located makes him pretty well accessible to a lot of folks in that part of the country and he deserves a good, honest look from folks with those real good females.

There are other real nice males around the country that are surfacing out of ol' Rabble Rouser, like Deuce, Shaker, Rage, Red and Rocky but we also have our Yank male here in Wisconsin that has something to offer. He doesn't have a lot of pups on the ground yet and I think the oldest are probably still under 2 years old but from what I can see and from what I hear, he is going to spring upon the scene in a big way because his pups are showing that they're willing to get with the program early and that they have some coon sense and that they are tree minded.

Lots of good choices out there, these are just a few that need consideration if you're looking for strong, line bred options.

"Lots of good choices"!! You are so right and located in Arkansas, Missouri, 2 in Wisconsin, Ohio, 2 in Virginia and Tennessee. It looks like there is something for everyone.

Randy Ficken and Rocky

Congratulations to Randy Ficken and his Rocky dog on picking up Rocky's fourth Nt. Ch. win and also a best of show last night.

Rocky is a nice young male out of Rabble Rouser and Music and is one of several from that litter that have finished to at least Nt. Ch. with one or two more to come.

It's a real nice accomplishment considering the age of those dogs from that litter.

Good luck going forward as you try and get that last win and finish him to Gr. Nt. Ch.

Can you post Rocky's pedigree? Won't he be able to sire a 3-gen All Gr Nt litter after he gets that last win?

Rocky could sire that pedigree if he's matched with a female that can do the same. Deuce can also do the same thing when matched right.

I think there are a couple of females from the Rabble and Music cross that are finished or perhaps could be finished to Nite Ch. so if they have what it takes to finish all the way to Gr. Nt. Ch. then it would be a great cross to put one of them under Deuce. It would be heavy line bred on top but out-crossed to two pretty good lines on the bottom.

It's interesting to see how it all takes shape, both Deuce and Rocky are pretty young dogs yet.

Congratulations to Richard and Moose

Buck called this morning and told me that Richard put another Nt. Ch. win on Moose last night....GREAT JOB RICHARD & MOOSE!

Moose is a young hound yet with hopefully his best days ahead of him so these wins are real nice to see at this point in his career.

We're looking forward to getting Slim back in the woods soon, he was tracking and treeing along with other dogs already last fall at 8 months of age so we'll hope that he develops well enough this spring and summer to take advantage of a lot of alone time come fall. Slim is by way of Moose and Leinie from the first cross Moose has sired. I think he has a few mates out there that are also showing pretty good so it should be interesting to see how it all shapes up.

Great weekend!

It was a great weekend...Moose picked up another Nite Ch. win and the GREEN BAY PACKERS won the SUPER BOWL!!! YeeeHaaaa!

What a great game to watch, neither team really dominated one way or the other and tense to the end...gotta love it.

Someone needs to breed a nice female out of Zack to one of those top Rabble males! I wish that I had one. Where is the Music female? It sounds like she needs to be bred back to one of those nice Rabble males. I wonder which one is the best; Yank, Moose, Deuce, Rocky, Haze, Rage, Shaker, Hmmmm?

game

Tom

Who's the top dog now, how about them packers. Probably one of the better games they had at the super bowl in a while. Plenty of rain & wind lately around here, doing a little bit hunting. Tracks not much count for pups, stay warm man.

Tim

That was a great game to watch. Just wonder what the score would have been if they had everyone healthy. Still liked the turn out.
