Sorry Richard

You are right under T-TOP Tom. But that is real close to the top.
I talked with Johnny Williams friday night. He and Copper hunted in a snow storm at Semour Mo. He said it snowed so hard they could hardly see. Copper did good he made one den tree and treed in a cave. Im glad we aint got any caves around here. There are to many bears and wild hogs down here form me to be going in any caves. If the good Lord wanted me to go under ground he would have made me a worm or a mole, not human.

Smoke looks good Jesse, he has grown into a real nice looking male dog and he looks slicker than a whistle in those pictures.

Good to hear from you.

Smoke

I believe that Smoke is by way of Rabble Rouser and Angel...he must be 5 years old...or so. I think there is a female mate to him called Silk that is out east somewhere and she's doing OK too from what I hear.

Look good

The dogs look good Buck, pretty nice batch of hounds in that picture.

I'd guess it will get a guy in shape following that bunch of hounds...eh?

Good luck in your swamp hunting...you're a better man than I am if you'll cut a dog loose in that kind of crap...you know me...I don't have much time to hunt the swamp land. I may have to walk straight up and straight down sometimes but I'd rather do that than swim in the winter...or the summer for that matter.

smoke

yup smoke is rabble x angel, he is straight coon and needs no help on any track. the only down fall to him is that once he hits a track he wont quite till he trees it, he never stops till he hits the tree no matter what lies between him and the tree, even the wisconsin river dont stop him lol

Lots of action by the looks of those pictures. Chief did real good to hang in there on that rock while those other dogs had the coon caught.

It's a tough time of year to hunt but it sure looks like you guys made that one turn out OK.

Weather

We're finally looking forward to several days of weather where the day time temperature will be above freezing...it has been a long time since I could say that so we're looking forward to it a lot.

Mark has some real nice pups on the ground out west out of Shaker and Reily, very heavy line bred cross out of some proven hounds with a lot of history behind them.

Still too early to tell if Angel took after being mated to Yank but I'm hoping the old girl can give us one more good litter of outstanding prospects like she did with the last two litters she had.

Good luck to all the Redbone people who enter in competition this weekend, we'll be wishing you all the best.

Moose's male pup MOE!!

2 drops tonight, 2 coon seen.

Remenber this is alone he is to wired to hunt in company. Will have to bring him back into company. Alot better than the" will have to single him out". He is like a class clown with the brains, with company.

Moe

Hey Rob, I'm glad to hear that Moe is getting with the program...I don't think he's a year old yet...is he?

He'll mature and quit being so wound up with company, it's something they usually outgrow once they get past being a puppy.

It's a fun process when they take to it like he is doing.

Hey Tom

We had a blast Saturday night hunting in the swamp's in Virginia. The Dawg's did a great job treed five coon's, had one jumper. I pulled Moose off the tree about five feet turned him loose with the other dog's a treeing. He picked up the track by this time wendell got Willow off the tree and Dave with ole Blue 150 yard's put the coon up and then he came out we only took 3 of the 5

Made new friends and a new Redbone man.

The new Redbone man ((( Cole Richardson )))

We hunted Da Moose, Willow, and ole Blue " Rambler "

More Picture's From Saturday Night

This is a den tree, no coon seen but was a good running track.

Da Moose & Willow--------Brother and Sister out of Rabble X Sally.

This is Willow and Rambler with Moose on the other side.

C P Richardson and the Natural "David" <> the up and coming Redbone Men.

C P cooking after the hunt.

Mike cooking the egg's after the hunt.

This was a great hunt CP and Mike did not take us to the big nasty. I do not like to swim and Da Moose need's a little more in the water. Moose made it 1/2 way a cross the river and the fast water was taking him down the river fast. He made it back to the side we were on but he was very tired. Moose did good in the swamp the long leg's helped him out.

CP is a Red Tick man but after Saturday night he will be looking to get him a nice Redbone pup.

Sorry Tom, but I just had to post picture's from this hunt. T-TOP HOUND'S RULE !!!!

Yes Sir!

That is a fine batch of pictures Buck...the only thing better would have been to be there in person taking part in all that action...and some good food afterwards by the looks of it.

I love the picture of that young man holding Moose and the coon, he's a serious houndsman if I ever saw one.

It looks like it was a great night, the kind of night that folks remember in their head and heart for a long time to come. Some day, you'll be an old man looking and thinking back on these days...and what a blessing it will be.

I hope those folks all realize now that these Red dogs can get the job done and in style...maybe one day they'll lead one themselves and the family will have grown...eh?

It was in the 50s yesterday and low 40s today with more of the same to come this week. The snow is starting to settle fast and even some bare ground on the ridge tops...it won't be long and there will be some action around T-Top again...yahoooooo!

Moe

I saw this picture on another thread and wanted to get it on this thread because this is a real fine example of a T-Top hound from top to bottom.

This is Rob Brown's Moe pup...

Moe is by way of

Dual Ch. PR T-Top Dark Timber Moose
and
Nite Ch. PR Brown's Lienie Red Ryder

We have a litter mate to Moe that was tracking and treeing along with other dogs already last fall at 8 months old and I know of two other mates that are also either tracking and treeing their own or doing it along with another dog. There is also a female mate down in Iowa that will be turning the crank as soon as she's able to get to the woods so it's looking like the cross was a reasonable match. Time will tell the whole story, these pups have a ways to go yet to grow up and be what they're eventually going to be but it's sure good to see them get with the program at this age...it makes it a lot easier to feed them until they grow up...eh?

Hunt

Hey Tom,

Katie is really hitting the trees alot harder now, they had been treed for about 45 min. before i got to them.

Posted by topdog on 02-16-2011 12:51 PM:

Doin' good

They're doing real good Tim, it has to be exciting to see that kind of development at that age.

It sure makes the fever set it around here, can't wait until we can get some action going again with these pups. It won't be long...maybe this weekend if it stays nice and the snow keeps melting down.

Nice job with those young dogs, maybe I'll get to see them go somewhere down the road.

Pups

That's pretty cool Carl, I'll bet it's exciting to look forward to those little guys and gals growing up...eh?

I'm really looking forward to how they all turn out because it's a cross that I don't think has been made before and it sure includes some great bloodlines, Outlaw, Red Fever, T-Top, Hoffmeister and many others. I would sure bet that there will be some tree power in those hounds considering what Collide has been throwing and knowing the kind of tree dog that Rebel was in his day.

Anyway, the snow is slowing disappearing and I think we'll be able to get back training pretty quick and maybe even some hunting if we don't get blasted again with a lot of snow so maybe we'll both be able to make some more progress with the pups.

Badger

I got a few nice pictures of a young dog called Badger, owned by Bret Hendricks from Arkansas. Bret has been doing a good job of bringing Badger along in his training and is starting to see the rewards for his efforts.

This is Badger lookin' good...on the wood...

Badger is by way of:

Dual Ch. Pr T-Top Dark Timber Moose

and

Nt. Ch. PR Brown's Leinie Red Ryder

This is a half brother/half sister cross with Dual Gr. Ch. PR T-Top Rabble Rouser as the common sire and the litter is looking pretty good at 10 months of age with 4 of the pups already tracking and treeing. We like this cross because it puts old Rat up close, 3 times in 3 generations and adds some very good blood from the out cross side going back to Gr. Nt. Ch. PR Long Tall Sally.

We're looking forward to getting Slim out and back in the woods this spring so we can add some photos of his progress through the late winter and early spring. Slim is out of this same cross and a litter mate to Badger.
