Lost two of the best hounds I ever owned this week

Speed (4-4-04- 12-16-17)

Speed was a pleasure to own. He was one of the quickest and hardest tree dogs I ever owned! His 100+ tree barks a minute. His always eagerness to please. His uncanny ability. His drive. His wins. His awards. His ability to reproduce. His performance Top 10 reproducing sire. His ability to make me walk farther than I really wanted to. All these things will be missed!! He was a true companion!!!

I want to thank the following people First Forster Grubb for allowing me to own such a nice hound at a young age!! Second I want to thank all the people that gave him a chance in their breeding program. Third all the people hunting offspring off of him. Last My wife and daughter for taking care of him while I was in North Carolina hunting. I don't know how many of friends this dog has introduced me to. Now Speed tree all them coons in coon dog heaven!!! He will be greatly missed!!!!

I lost two of the best hounds I ever owned this week

Lady (9-19-09- 12-21-17)

Lady died after injuries caused from bear hunting Saturday on the coast of North Carolina. I cannot start to count the bears and coons she has treed!!! She was a once in a lifetime dog!! I can remember the first bear she ever treed!! I knew right then she was going to be a special one and wow was I right! She is one that can never be replaced!! What really hurts was she was not only a great dog but she was my best buddy!! Man at the stories I will be able to tell my grandkids about her someday! I don't think I have ever lost a dog that bothers me like losing her has. She will be one I will never forget!!!

Wow. Sorry to hear Junior. Time flies by. Speed, without a doubt, was the hardest and classiest tree dog i ever had the pleasure to hunt with.

Speed passed away on 12-16-17. He was 13 years old. A lot of great years with him!! Thanks for all the calls and texts.

We just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!! Remember the real reason of the season!!!! Times are tough and money is tight but don't forget the things we take for granted.... We are blessed and sometimes we don't even realize it. We pray you and your families experience it this year.

I am hunting two males out of Speed X Jolene. Both are coming along nicely. Of course they are just 15 months old so some nights are better than others! I was hoping to get to come to St. Louis but not looking good. I sure hope the Vols can pull it out!! Talk to you soon buddy!

Everything going good! Just getting ready to gear up for bear season.

Elmo,
No I am not going to be able to make it. Will be at the hunt in Iowa if we don't go to Canada for spring bear season. Family is doing good! Daniel is in Montana till September for internship thru school, Hailey is practicing basketball weekly, Ben is playing coach pitch and I am helping coach the team, and Cindy is just keeping us all in line. Speed II is not set in stone yet but have two prospects! Hope all is well buddy!

Still not sure yet. Looks like its going to be last minute decision because a lot going on with my dad, new boss at work, etc... Time will tell!

Bluetick Days

Congratulations to all the winners at this weekends Bluetick Days! I hate that I missed it but had to work!

My friend Elmo Overton received the Lifetime Achievement award!! Well deserved

Another buddy of mine Vince Hocker placed 6th Friday night with Smoky Mtn Blue Short Liz out of SPEED X LACE.

Also congrats to Matt Lingo and Earl Howell on placing!!!!

Am sure I missed some other ones because I hadn't got to hear last night's winners yet. But it sure sounds like it was a great hunt!!! Maybe next year!
