Glad Little Lou is working out for you. You've got a lot of rust to knock off of her. I'm hoping to catch up at work and get the young dogs out of her and Jimmy cranking this year.

As far as Anna, I don't think I'll ever get pups out of her. She will be 10 in July and she just went out of heat but she didn't come all the way in or something. She was bred once before to Ron Taylor's Son dog before I got her and she had to be bred artificially. Fortunately she caught and had one litter of pups. I've never been able to get her bred for one reason or another. Anna will be going back to Justin Adkins in W.V. He's actually had her the majority of the time since I've owned her and he enjoys her, so she'll be going back to his home.

Went out to Mike's last night and took Ring on a short hunt. Yesterday was Ring's 14th Birthday. The Old Man did pretty good making a den tree and treeing a coon for us. Not bad for a 14 years old dog.

14 still getting the job done

He really surprised Mike with what he did. Mike had been telling me for the last couple weeks that Ring was going down hill pretty fast and thinks Ring is starting to have heart problems. But Mike wanted to make that 14th birthday hunt with him and said if he lost him by hunting him that Ring would go out doing what he loves to do. We cut him loose and he went down around the left side of a holler, struck, ran back across the holler on our side and treed on the den. We then led him a little ways and cut him and he doubled back picked up another track and took it down the hollow and treed the coon in the bottom. Ring has a knack of being able to work and tree multiple coon in a small area. This ole dog had some special coon treeing ability that is hard to describe. He used his brains along with a super cold nose and locating ability to make treeing coon look easy. He is a special hound for sure.

After they treed on the den and I recut, Rose crossed the next road. I gathered up Beauty and went and got the truck. Rose was in some woods between houses and it got interesting but I managed to get her corralled and out of there. I like wide hunting dogs but they can sure make some hunts nerve wracking.

I tried to call you this evening. Ended up taking Jewel and Sadie together just to see what would happen. Jewel had the strike and tree on a 600 yard chase of McClinics finest lol. It was a mess getting to them. Both hounds performed well and i was pleased.

Wish I could have gone with you but I don't think I would have liked going to that tree any more than you did. lol. That stuff is some kind of rough. Between work and trying to get Cricket bred, it hasn't left much time for hunting this week. RT is coming this evening to breed their female to Jimmy. Hope we can get it done.

Tonites hunt was a different story. Made 3 trees. First tree i believe was a slick it was iffy. Second track made 2 split trees. Id have to give tonites hunt to Sadie just depending on how the first tree was scored. All in all it was a fun hunt. I was proud to feed both hounds when we got home lol.

David you sure do have a couple nice hounds. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that would gladly feed them if you ever get too aggravated at them, but I don't see that happening. lol.

I've gotten some calls here lately about breeding to Dual Grand Clear River Blue Diamond Jimmy HTX2. He is in Athens, Alabama and is available for stud at Sherell Schrimsher's. Sherell's number is 256-729-8628.

Clear River Jimmy's full brother, Ohio Valley Blue Diamond Jimmy HTX is here in southeastern Ohio at my house and is available for stud by private treaty.

Been a busy week for me and Ohio Valley Blue Jimmy. My Cricket came in heat and she was bred last Tuesday. She had a normal heat cycle but didn't swell enough to breed naturally so I had her AI'd. Then last Friday, R.T. Stewart and Larry McCormick brought Nt Ch PKC Ch Briar Ridge Blue Sage in to breed to Jimmy. Sage, AKA Lippy, won 4th place registered on Saturday night last year at Bluetick Days and they have since finished her to Nt Ch with wins toward Grand. She is out of White River Chief and Gr Nt Ch PKC Ch Briar Ridge Sweet Talkin Angel and that cross produced some natural littermates as well. Yesterday Layton Stott from Maryland brought in his female to breed to Jimmy. Layton's female is a good looking, well bred female with a big mouth. All these crosses should produce some dogs that people will be able to enjoy in future years and I want to thank Briar Ridge Kennel and Layton for bringing their females in to breed to Jimmy. Now all we need to hope for is that mother nature cooperates.

This is what the cross will look like on paper. Layton is talking like he's not planning on selling any unless he gets a big litter. The two gyps I bred to Jimmy in the last 6 months had 9 pups each so hopefully all will go well with Layton's gyp as well and she'll be able to raise them without any problem. Guess we'll know in a couple months.
