Yes, no water in any of the swamps still here. I hunt state ground when they open in sept, most of them here in OH are marsh land. This is the driest I have every seen them. It changed the way we run tracks there for sure. This fall was a dust bowl and when they were taking crops off it was a nightmare. The dust hung in the air like fog for days at a time. I went out on night after one of the few rains we got after a 6 week stretch of not a drop of rain. The coon were moving like crazy and the dog went to slick treeing like mad there was so much sent. Before that tracks were long and tuff but he was good about having it. It was an interesting year for sure, and were still 9 inches below for rain fall for the year.

Coons

There, are not very many around here, you can not kill them in march, april, and may, and expect to see them in november, it don't happen. If people don't start takeing care of the coon, there will be less.

I don't hunt much anymore out of season so I'm not killing coon, if a man has to shoot out a bunch of coon to keep a dog looking good, he shooting the wrong animal

Went out last night after 10, treed 4 in no time, usually right after gun week the hunting is slow good change of pace
