Sell em, $$$$$$$$. Raising and starting them is a lot more fun than hunting them. I have a very short attention span. The Dr said I have Adult Attention Deficit Disorder.

Tater should pretty much be out of heat now, but might be good to wait one more week to be sure. I'm thinking she came in the week after AO.

Haze will have a new girlfriend this Saturday. I'm sure he will be excited.

Gonna get my license for some rough hunting out here next to my house. Straight up and down, nothing but pure mountains. I figured with all the weight I have lost, I should be able to get up and down the hills now.

Might be taking Frog Dawg out for a drop later.

Just loaded up frog and when she jumped in the truck......guess what I noticed? Yep....drop of blood. Taking her anyway with one of her pups from moose. Females...eh?

That's a nice bunch of females Richard. Frog and Hazel had a good night tonight too. This was Hazel's first time for pretty much everything, first time riding in truck, first time to the woods........she did see her first coon last saturday and that's it. So off to the woods I went with one female that is fat, out of shape and just came in heat and a 5 month old daughter of Frog. Well, we made 3 trees and saw 6 coon....not bad. I was impressed with Hazel and her first time. Here are some pics.

Frog on the Second tree of the night.

While taking pics of frog, I noticed Hazel starting to get excited while she was running around, she was smelling the coon scent on the ground and she opened a few times. Then, she decided to join her mom at the tree.

Then she decided, well, maybe I should do what momma's doing.....

She joined in a little at the next tree too.

Not to bad for a 5 month old pups first trip to the woods and has only seen one coon, no hides or drags yet, even though that is coming soon. She acknowledged the coon scent and it got her excited and she did what should come naturally. I was happy. Now granted, she is 5 months old, so while we were walking to turn frog loose again, she discovered cow poop and decided it tasted good......well, it came back up on the ride home....

I sure was proud of my 3 girls last night. They treed 4 coons in 2 trees where I didn't think that there were any left. Wendy had first on one tree and Sheba had first on the other. They looked so good that I quit after 2 drops and got home at 10:30!

That's a great night Richard. I got home at around 3:30 or so......of course I wasn't hunting, I was at a youth event at the church.

Haze has a girlfriend coming in two hours. Maybe I should give him a bath.......

Hazel sure looks nice, like a Redbone should look. Typical of the dogs you guys have her head and ears have that nice houndy look. I hope she finishes as nicely as she is starting!

Thanks Chris. I was surprised at how she did to be honest. She hasn't had any exposure yet. It was nice to see. I totally agree with you........it's not how they start but how they finish!! But I have to admit, how they start can be just as fun as it is when your experiencing one mature into a finished hound.

I agree, starting a dog is alot of fun, full of surprises and twists....every now and then it will get frustrating, but the investment is worth the gain.

Why would you be surprised???? I love Moose pups and I love Haze pups. I bet that I would really love Hazel!

Wendy is only 11 mos old now. If she comes in heat next month, I am going to breed her to her Uncle Moose. I don't think that I can afford to keep her another year.

Here is another Haze female. She is not a pup anymore. She is a dog and has had her ups and downs this year but I think she is really starting to bring it back together. Should be interesting this fall. She had a good week and was under several coon by herself. Chick has a good nose and can move a track. Comes treed with a good locate and rolls into a steady, not hard, chop. Looking forward to hunting with a few more Haze pups this fall.

Training Day

My dad and I loaded up Hazel and Addy with Locket (our lead dog) and headed to the farm across the road this evening.

I made the drag and we turned them loose and this was the result.

Hazel and Locket........Addy was still running around not knowing what was happening yet.

Addy finally noticed the coon and decides to join in.

Then she decides to try putting her feet on the tree

Finally on the wood

Then the reward for a job well done.

I really like these pups. With Addy joining in, that makes 6 of 6 that are getting after a coon and in some form treeing drags and such. Not to bad of a start.

Nope.........no breeding for Froggie this go around. Need to get her hunted up so she can finish to grand with the leaves off.

Now don't you go and breed wendy.......she doesn't need that distraction.

Breed Frog and I will give you $800 for the whole litter right now. I will pick them up when they are 8 wks old. I will give them shots and take care of all paperwork. All you have to do is worm them once or twice. You can't beat that deal.

Dang $800 a piece wow I am glad I already have mine He is coming along well for a 5 month old pup. I am going to do some training with him tomorrow. Hope he takes after a coon like he does a house cat he is already running (opening on track) and treeing house cats. I am excited to get him in the woods. He will go with the other dogs already and be at the tree. Just needs some one on one and it won't be long till he will be turning it on in the woods.
