COFFEE TABLE

This is what I have been working on the past couple days. Foot is slowly getting better and I will probably be able to go on a short hunt in another week but until then I had to do something productive and running a Sander and using a paint brush don't require any walking so this is what I got into. Sanded for a few hours then put 4 coats of Lacquer on it about 3 hours between coats. Then I bolted a set of the old cast iron legs I bought off Ebay onto it. The legs came off one of the very early style sewing machines, brand was White USA. They were lower to the ground making these legs Perfect for a Coffee Table. After I took these pictures I noticed a spot on the left that looked like the Lacquer was a little thick or something. I will not sell one if I'm not 100 percent happy with the way they look so this one got the Sander put to it again and I took All the Lacquer off it back to bare wood and started over. Put 1st coat on it yesterday evening and will put the others on it today. The weather has been great, low 30's at night and 70 during the day and looks like mid 70's the next 10 days so spring is here. I saw the maple trees are about to bloom out. Killing me to miss all this great month and weather and not be able to cut BO and Bam but it is what it is. I took Bam's ramp down in his pen so he can start jumping the 30" from the concrete to the first deck then jump on up to the top. I had took them down a few months ago as he was big enough to jump but he didn't have his mind ready for the challenge so I didn't push him and I put them back up. This time with a little encouragement from a squirt of water he hopped up like a Kangaroo. He was so proud of himself after he realizes he can jump, fun to see him prancing around with that tail held high and wanting to wrestle with me when I went in the pen to tell him good job and give him a little love. I have thought that maybe the Good Lord let my accident happen for a reason. With BO hurt just a few nights before I did my stupid 4 wheeler trick and BO was going to be laid up a while that meant I was going to be hunting BAM every night I wanted to hunt. He is still very young so maybe that's why the Lord let me get sidelined. To give Me, BO and Bam a break. That lets Bam get a little older before we get back after them and maybe works out for the best. Spring is getting here and treeing a coon will get easier for a pup. Coon Hunting coming Soon!

FOOT

Went back to the DR today. Swelling is down some but pain is back full force from me thinking it was getting better and limping around on it with the brace boot on. DR. said I have to wear boot another 4 to 6 weeks No Work and No Hunting and if I don't stay off it and let those Ligaments heal then I might not work or hunt again, ever. He said with the swelling down some he could tell more exactly what I did to the foot and he said I Hyper Extended and Strained the Ligaments. He said it would have been better if I had broke a bone cause after 6 weeks I would have been back to normal but with Ligaments it could drag on. I told Beverly I could really let this get me down and depressed or I could set on the river bank with my foot propped up and a fishing pole in my hands or get in the road soon and take Stormy north for her date with Ole Boomer soon. I think I'm going to do both, Fish and Road Trip! Enjoy the month off as best I can.

Getting some good reports on the pups off Bo and Stormy. Several treeing drags and hang ups. They have loud mouths, not overpowering loud like I was hoping for but above average and getting better every day. Got a video on Ace and Boogie and they both look and sound real good. Boogie's mouth was like Blade's a couple months ago, not that impressive but like Blades has got a whole lot better. Some pups at 3 months old you can pretty much tell what they gonna have while others develop later. That is the case with these pups. They are 5 months old and I hope in a few more months they are what I was hoping and breeding for: Overpowering Loud.

REDSTICK ACE

This is a picture of Redstick Ace owned by Sleepy of Baton Rogue. He is off my BO X Stormy cross. Sleepy is really liking him and has him treeing on drags as he is doing in this picture. He sent a video to but I haven't been able to post one in a while. When BO treed that double in Black Branch Swamp weeks ago I tried to post it but Photobucket isn't working for me. But the video of Ace is nice. Pup has a good mouth and I believe it will get better. Good Luck with him Sleepy, I believe he will make us Proud. Glad I got him in your hands because I know he will get a great chance to make it.

This is the first post and picture I put when I started this Thread almost two years ago. Bo was 7 months old in this picture. The reason I posted it with the picture of Ace is because I wanted yaw to see the similarities in Father and Son. Look at the way they both are built, the black head, the way they stand on tree, the way the tail is held, ect. Bo can't deny this pup. I saw on the forum here recently of a hound for sale for 10,000. Some people thought it was a misprint others thought they must be crazy wanting that much for a hound while others understood and agreed with the price. I wanted to put my two cents in bad but as Frank Erwin used to tell me, " You gonna let your mouth overload your behind " so I remained silent. But since this is my thread I will have my say on a hound, whether they are worth 10,000 or not. Looking back on this Thread and All the pages and All the memories and looking at Ace and how he reminds me of Bo so much the way he is up on that fence, 10,000 dollars couldn't come close to buying my memories with this hound much less take him from my home. To love a hound more than money... Priceless.

ace/ fly

Thanks Steve for the compliments on ace. And the pup is going to be a lot how u talk about bo. He is starting to muture around the yard he will rip and run awhile then find him a spot in the yard a watch and see if anything move. I never showed him a cage coon only a dead coon or a hide and he will find it and tree it. He will be a big muscle up hound that can move.

I took fly hunting for the first time ever alone just a few weeks shy of making a year old. I've been hunting her with Ann as much as possible up till the last three hunts, I hunted her with a friend young dog and his old dog I was more impressed that she did go with Strang dogs treed with them on coons and didn't back them on any trash. I'm still shy about hunting her to much alone until I get to check and see if she would run a deer, or hog, she like to get out in front and run to catch so far it's been good, she hasn't been jumping on the tree like she was early so I'm really excited to hunt her. Fly is off bo/Barbra jean. She is a first or second on strike and quick tree dog with very strong mouth that can be call treed over 700 yards in the hill or flat swamp bottom.

FLY

Sleepy I'm proud for you that Fly is getting it done. You have a knack for getting the best out of a pup. My Pebbles gyp is a lot like her, full of play and gonna have to be a little older before I fool with her which is fine. Took her for a ride into Black Branch Swamp Monday to let her get used to riding and going strange places. You and Fly stay after those coon and she's gonna make you a nice hound. That video you sent me of her was very nice. Big mouth on that gyp. Give me a call when you want to make a hunt around here. I can't walk to the tree but will be glad to take you to my spots all night if you like. I need to hear a hound TREE!!! Fishing is fun, making coffee tables is fun but it ain't NOTHING like Coon Hunting! I miss it BAD!!

Great Day

We had a fun day with the Grand Boys today. First it was off to Masons School for Grand Parents day and a little program they did and meet his teacher. We had dropped the Black Truck off getting two more new tires so I'm good all the way around now. Heading out to Illinois early Monday morning to get Stormy closer to her date with Boomer so wanted fresh rubber all the way around. Then back to the house and Shane was here with Little Levi and his Sandblasting Rig. He blasted about 20 Sinker Cypress Heart Knees for us. Planning on putting Tung Oil on them and hopefully getting an image of a Coon Hound Blasted into them but Shane just has to get the Stencil cut out of steel. He had some out of vinyl but they didn't work out. I rode Levi and Beverly around in the Kubota and we had a great time watching that little fellow throw rocks in the river and laugh when one of the hounds took his cookie away if he put his hand to close to the door of the Kennel. It is beautiful weather here, full sun and in the mid 70's. A turkey was gobbling up river from the house this morning at daylight. When he would gobble he was double and triple gobbling. Made my trigger finger go to itching bad. My foot is doing a little better each day. Still supposed to wear brace boot another month but I got a feeling the way the weather is and how its feeling a little better that the brace boot is fixing to have some Black Branch Swamp Mud on it!

PACMAN

Kade sent me this picture of Pacman, the pup I gave him off BO X Stormy. He came out of their house to find Pacman had loaded himself up and was laying on Top of the dog box. I would say the Pup is trying to show him he is ready to start hunting!

Stormy

I left at midnight Sunday night and got Stormy to MR. Ed's a little after 10am yesterday morning, visited a few hours then saddled back up and made the ride home. Got in at 11pm last night. I slept Good. Also wanted to let yaw know that I no longer work for Coastal Bridge. Long story that I will tell one day but Not Now. The cell number a lot of you call and text me on was my Coastal phone and I will NOT have it after today. That number was 225-445-7259 and I CAN NOT be reached on it any longer. Most likely will NOT get a cell phone because like TV they are always going up on the bill and with not having a job I don't need the bill or headache. I can be reached at our home number 601-730-1747. Leave a message and I will get back to you. Now that I have Time when this foot gets healed these pups are going to get hunted hard. Some people would stress out at age 52 if they lost their job but I'm NOT. I will enjoy hunting and fishing to the fullest and work for myself. It won't be a steady check and it won't be the money I was making but I will be able to enjoy my LIFE 1,000 times more and in the end that's what you will remember when your laying on your death bed, not how good of a job you had but at the life you lived and the goodness you leave behind as your memory. When the Dust settles I will tell the story. After I got in last night and took the brace boot off Beverly just shook her head. It was swollen almost as bad as the day I hurt it. Today I will keep it up and try to get swelling down. MR. Ed, thank YOU and Terry Tucker for making this cross happen. They will be the right kind For Sure.

BOARDING PUPS

Thanks Tommy, thanks for your words of encouragement. Means a lot.

I have thought about this before but didn't have the free time so didn't offer it to the public but now I'm self employed I have plenty of time so here it is: I will take 2 pups and board here at Bogue Chitto Blues Kennel if anyone would like their pup to run loose 75 percent of the time. From 12 weeks old up to 7 months. Pups will run loose in the country on the Bogue Chitto River and have the best care possible. They will be swam with by me and Mason, played with almost everyday, broke to lead, taught to load, will be hauled on 4 wheeler and Kubota and in dog box. When you start them swimming and riding at a young age you never have to worry over them hanging up on water and they will never get sick or be scared to be hauled. They will also be hauled in the Jet Boat. So no matter how you hunt, your pup will be ready when you get them back. They will be given Heart Guard Plus once a month, Drontal Plus every 3 months that takes care of the 11 intestinal worms and Bravecto every 3 months for ticks and fleas. That pill alone is 40 bucks but it is the Best. If the pup is a Mature Acting pup without a lot of play and you would like me to show it One coon in a roll cage then cut a couple loose at night for it then I will do that, But only if that's what you want and Only if I feel the pup is ready. I'm not taking any to start and train. Even with all my time I have enough young dogs of my on so I do not have time for any others. Your pup will be fed Victor Puppy in the Teal Green Bag. It cost 43 bucks for 40lbs. I will do all this plus supply all the wormers and flea tick pill and I will supply the dog food for 250 bucks a month. I will have 100 or a little better every month out of my pocket taking care of your dog and you would to if you kept him yourself so I'm making about 150 a month to do all I said I would do. I have TONS of references on me and my word and the care I give my hounds. I have 2 spots open and will only take 2. This will give Mason and Me some little pups to spend the Summer with on the Bogue Chitto River. If this is something any of yaw would like for me to do with your pup call me at 601-730-1747 and leave message or message me on here. Thanks.

P.S. We prefer BLUE but will take any breed of pup as long as your money is GREEN!

FLOODING

Yesterday evening at 3pm it started raining and the river was at normal low. BO woke me up bawling at 10:30pm and water was coming into the yard. With my messed up left foot and now Gout is in my right knee I did the best I could but it was slow and painful. Beverly was flying around helping me with everything. We had to load 4 wheelers, mowers, Kubota, Tractor and dogs and move it to the shop and the little cottage. I have kennels over there to. We got all that done and some clothes packed and water was coming up fast so at 3:30am we had to get out. We didn't get all our chairs picked up or a lot of things in the yard tied off. We have lots more rain coming today tonight and tomorrow. No one around here has ever seen a flood like this. Roads and Bridges are blown out everywhere. We will put Jet Boat in after lunch as I have some help coming and will try to get some things out of the house as I think we will loose our home if the weather forecast holds true. Water is already 2' deep under house and it wont crest until rain quits and it will crest over 24 hours later. Please Pray for us and all the ones affected by this awful flooding in the South. The whole time we were moving out last night it was pouring rain and lightening was bad. We have had over 17" since yesterday.

Flooding

Sorry to hear this Steve. That is unbelievable, 17" is a half a years rainfall. Getting that much that quickly is devastating. I will pray for you and yours as well as others being affected. You've had a heck of a streak of bad luck. Keep your head up and moving forward. Keep us posted and if I can do anything to help, give me a shout!

RIVER FLOODING

Thanks Guys, as you can see from this picture the Bogue Chitto River is Mad at Me! Supposed to come up 4 to 5 more feet depending on the rain and that will be about a foot or two from getting in the house so maybe we will be Spared. Tommy I hope you and Rhett are making it ok because I know yaw got hit hard to. Neighbors came and helped me today and we took Jet Boat in and got my Guns and a lot of other stuff out of the house. Tomorrow evening I will know if we going to be flooded in the house or not.

RIVER FLOODING

The Good Lord Blessed us and the river has crested and headed back down. Didn't get as high as they thought. Got to 29' and they had predicted 32' so didn't get much higher than in the picture before she started down. Now I'm looking forward to finding the Sinker Cypress she has washed out of the banks!

SINKER HOOK UP

Put the Jet Boat in this morning and went Treasure Hunting. Found this Very Old Cypress Beam washing out of the bank down river. It has been buried no telling how long. It was 3" thick, 2' wide and about 15' long. It has square small spikes in one edge, Ax Marks on it and holes cut for wood pegs. My guess is it was a part of a low water crossing on the river when they were logging it in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Really cool to find stuff like this. I took the Chainsaw and cut all that was exposed out of the bank and brought it home.

To many holes in it for that I think Tommy. I believe it came off an old bridge too.

PEBBLES and BLADE

[/URL

[URL=http://s30.photobucket.com/user/bankstons/media/BOGUE%20CHITTO%20BLADE/IMG_4932_zpsr8fokk8x.jpg.html]

Couple more pictures of Blade and Pebbles fetching sticks today. Blade has the stick but Pebbles usually ends up taking it away and running with it. The other picture is Blade swimming back after I threw one a little to far and the current got a hold to him and he went down river a little ways before he could swim loose of the currents grip. Hopefully next week I will have some pictures of BO and Bam treeing. It's been 6 LONG weeks since I cut Bo loose. This foot still don't feel near as good as I think it should and it may not ever get back to normal but come Friday night I'm cutting BO loose. Been Way to long.

Good to see the river back within its banks again and you getting a chance to spend some time with the pups. Sure looks nice there, especially with our forecast. Looks like old man winter isn't quite done here. We're facing 6-12" of snow tomorrow into Thursday. I'll post some photos of the dogs playing in snow banks!

SPRING

Hang in there Jeremy Spring will arrive up there soon. Put us some pictures on here of your young hounds in the snow.

Bobby I will find out next week if the fish are biting. Water been up to high to fast even to catch Catfish but it's starting to look good now. I have been hearing two gobble up river the past 3 weeks on good clear mornings. They across the river but I have been tempted to put a decoy out on the Sandbar and see if I can get one to fly across the River to it. I saw on Facebook that Jimmie won another race Sunday and had his Superman cape on. The wife and Mason have sure been pouting that we don't watch Nascar anymore. I can deal with the wife pouting, she will get over it but boy it really gets to me if Mason is upset. I told Beverly if she pays the TV Bill she can watch the races every week but so far still no TV, lol! I might have to give in for my Little Buddy though. I sure miss watching it with him and the excitement in his voice and eyes when Jimmie beats Harvick and he picks on Mi Mi.
