Many yrs ago on my sister's wedding day on May 2nd, we got about 2" of snow. Today was the first day we didn't have fresh snow on the ground for awhile.

Out walkin I seen a dozen I counted, deer came out of my woods & headed across the prairie,I know there was more but not a one of 'em ran in single file.

Last night when we came home, we saw 6 deer across the rd from our house and 7 above our house.
Where did they hide in hunting season?

Question

Yep the proof will be in the pudding.

Posted by Rex Ridge on 04-11-2018 04:28 PM:

Last night, a mile from here we saw 19 deer in a field. Got home and there were 3 across the rd and 11 in our hay field. Hope we see some triplets this yr. Things aren't looking good for a garden.

yep learned my lesson on a fawn deer years ago...possum cops heard about it ..it became difficult to do a good deed after that...guess I should have left the fawn to starve to death.....

When Chuck stil lived at home he had a pet redtailed hawk and pet crows. We had 2 tame coon to train our first coonhounds with. They were nice, they'd just follow us through the yd. One day, they were gone. Chuck thinks his brother traded them for weed, but never did find out.
Chuck was a deputy game warden for 11 yrs. They use to trap nuisance skunk, coon, etc.. and relocate them, usually to the game lands. Now because of rabies and diseases, they have to shoot them. When he was deputy, 2 people picked up fawns, they said because the mothers were hit on the rd. We kept both (1 for 10 days and 1 for a wk) until they found someone to buy them. I wanted to get one to keep after that. A couple of yrs later, I worked with a woman that bought a buck fawn and when it got older it attacked and almost killed her husband so I decided against getting one.
Chuck's Rod and Gun club stocked trout today. He helped for a couple of hrs, got home just before it rained. Trout season starts Saturday, he didn't get his license or trout stamp yet.
