BAM TREED

Video of Bam treed last night. He treed steady the whole time I walked the 400 yards through the swamp to him. Not the hardest I have had him tree but good and steady. Click on picture to see and hear BAM.

BAM

I hunted Bam Saturday night and just got done hunting him tonight. He made one tree in a bad thicket Saturday night and there was no good place to shine from so coon wasn't found. Tonight he struck close at 88yds and struggled a few minutes to move it out but did get it lined out and moved almost 300yds down the slough then hit some bad water and it got away from him and I picked him up and came on in. Will take him down river tomorrow night and see if we can get one to go up one of those slick bark trees and fall out. Bam needs a little reward for the good effort he has shown the past week. He did open Saturday night some on something that didn't sound quite right but he soon quit it and moved on out. He is learning and with a taste of fur here and there he will be just fine. Going to start taking Blade with Bo some. He is more than ready and getting bored chasing sticks in the water. Time to show him why he is here.

Great Stories Steve

I'm still reading about your adventures. I've been busy trying to keep up with work, the place and keeping Jazz in shape. You sure know how to have a good time and tell a good story!

BAM

Thanks Chris and Tommy. Bam is a long way from being a top Coonhound but there is no doubt in my mind he will finish into one.

I want to put my updated contact info on here since I no longer work for Coastal Bridge and I have a new cell phone. Cell Number: 601-730-4505. House Number: 601-730-1747. Email: sinker2016@yahoo.com.

I didn't hunt last night as I have been bothered by my lower back that had the Sciatic Nerve hurting bad down back of legs. Today it was worse so I went to DR and got shots of Tordol and Decadron. Within an hour this evening I am feeling much better so Bo and Blade first couple hours then Bam for a couple tonight.

BLADE and BO, Father and Son

Thanks Scott. Hunting this pack of Hounds in these Swamps is always an Adventure, not always a Good One but Always something to remember. Been wondering if you decided you use Uncle Pen semen on Creek. Either way you go you can't go wrong, Take Care.

Took Bo and Blade to Black Branch Swamp and Bo got on a rough track but drifted on out a couple hundred yards and Blade started opening with him until the Coyotes started screaming on both sides of them and here came Blade back to the 4 wheeler wanting to get in my lap. He knew his Step Daddy had a fast 4 wheeler, good gun and bright light, lol! Left his real Daddy to trail that coon by himself which he did for 700yds and put him up a bushy oak on the edge of a Cattail Swamp and I was able to find him. On the way out of that chunk of woods Blade was running loose and I saw him rear up and check two big trees. Its in him, just need woods time to bring it out, Good Hunting!

BAM

Took Bam to Bo's Bottom and he struck a decent track and worked it in some deep water a few minutes and got him out and moving on down the creek headed south. Came treed at 587yds and treed steady while I made my way to him. He was out in knee deep water treeing on a big ironwood that leaned out over deeper water. One of the big limbs went against a huge oak that also leaned some out over the water. I looked and looked but couldn't find him if he was there. Will try again tomorrow night.

RIVER RATS

Pictures of Mason today fishing on the River. Top picture you can see the breams belly flashing in the water under the cork as he gives Mason a good fight. These pictures show how happy that boy is on the River with his Paw Paw and Mi Mi. Does a Heart Good to see a kid this happy these days. Beautiful weather here the past few days as we have had lows in the upper 40's and highs in the upper 70's. We made the most of it today.

BAM

Bam treed in Black Branch Swamp tonight. He treed hard and it was sounding good echoing through the swamp bottom but I believe he missed this one. Lot of leaves but small tree and I just don't feel like he was there. I recut him but he didn't pick it back up and went over a quarter mile to strike again. worked a bad track a while and located a few times but didn't stick. Then he bumped a Diller and ran it right by me and I stopped that quick and we came on home. He is looking and sounding better each night its just gonna take a little time but this pup has All the tools and I feel he will be something special when he gets it all put together night after night. Bo will be hunted hard this week getting ready for Bluetick Days.

BAM'S COON!!!

Took Bo and Bam to Bo's Bottom first tonight. They struck separate tracks and Bo treed first in a nasty area around the Beaver Lake and it took me a while getting around all the water to get in to him and he had the coon. Bam came treed as I was pulling Bo off his tree and we made our way the 100yds to Bam's tree. He was on a huge thick water oak and it was so thick around it I just couldn't find a place to even look for the coon. Left there and went to Black Branch Swamp and Bo got struck at close to 300yds and Bam put in with him. It was good to hear those two working the same track, don't happen often. They moved it about 200yds and it was a old track and Bo drifted out like he does on a track like this trying to pick it up deeper in the swamp. About that time Bam let out those Beautiful Locates 123yds Behind Bo and blew the top out. as soon as he started locating I started a video from over 150yds away and watched the seconds and it took Bo 40 seconds to double back and tree with Bam. I went in there and videoed them a minute then looked for the coon. As you can see inn the middle picture the top is broke out of this tree and it bushes out with big limbs. We have a lot of these type trees because of Katrina and most would think slick but these trees are rotten in the top center and the coons dig out the rotted wood and hunker down in the top. That's home on good days and most nights BUT, Not Tonight! See the black spot in the center of picture at bottom of brightest spot of light? That's his tail, he didn't quite get it all hid and when I spotted that I knew I had to convince him to meet the fine pup who treed him, BAM!! BAM!! BAM!! Job well done deserves a REWARD and Bam got his tonight! Love my Pup!! Outstanding job on a rough track and to tree him Behind Bo makes me some kind of Proud!

SINKER CYPRESS

This is a Sinker Cypress Coffee Table I made today. I attached the top to some Sinker Cypress Knees that had washed out of the bank last year. Took picture in the shade to show color of knees better as they are shadowed in the other picture. Thought it was fitting to take pictures on the Rivers Edge where all the wood came from that the table is made from. I will be a Vendor at Bluetick Days next week and will have some things like this for sale if anyone is interested. I don't take hounds on trade, have to many as it is, lol!

Mr. Jack Bam is looking good. He has took several tracks and treed them like he did the night you heard him but with all the leaves and the thickets it just hasn't worked out to get one down to him until last night. If I would have had to come home and got the Chainsaw that Pup was going to have that Coon after I saw his tail hanging out from where he was hiding. Lucky the trunk was rotted and no match for what I was throwing his way. I will see you next week at the hunt. If you need anything or want to ride with us just holler.

HAULING PUP 8 MONTHS OLD

Thanks Tommy and Dave! I could have hid the screw heads but I didn't feel like taking the extra time. I'm not a Carpenter but when I set my mind to doing something I can make it look ok, or at least good enough for me. The screw heads add to the Rustic Appeal to me. I have pulled these Sinker Logs and Driftwood out of this River for twenty years and Sawmilled it and sold some lumber and kept most but never have I been more Gratified and Proud than I feel now by taking the lumber to its final step and building things myself with it. So much more Full Filling. Dave if your ever in the South give me a holler and we will ride the river and hunt the hounds, Take Care.

Guys I'm looking for someone that is coming to Bluetick Days in Batesville, Ms. that is coming close or going through Louisville, Kentucky. I sold JR. Willis 2 female pups off my Bo X Stormy cross and my female pup died and he said if he couldn't hunt both of his he would sell me one back one day. He called today and offered one back so I'm taking him up on the offer. Need to get pup picked up and brought to the hunt where I will take her off your hands as soon as you get there. I'm not looking for a Free Ride, I pay my way just like to get it done cheaper than a hauler and you make some money. Call me at 601-730-1747 or 601-730-4505, Thanks.

TWO FOR TWO

Bo treed in Haunted House Bottom tonight. He took a decent track across the Swamp Bottom into an overgrown field where the Coon are feeding on berries and got him up and running and pushed him 500yds and made him climb this big Gum. I looked at him and as we were headed back to the 4 wheeler he struck off the lease so I cut him and he fell treed less than 100yds away on a small oak with a nervous coon in the top. He's looking sharp.

The picture with the Fish and the 2nd place ribbon was done by my Little Buddy Mason. His School entered his drawing in a STATE CONTEST and he won 2nd place out of the whole State for his age group. I did some things I'm proud of today like that Sinker Cypress Coffee Table and my hound Bo going two for two but neither one of those things makes me as proud as my Little Buddy drawing one of these Bogue Chitto River Fish and winning 2nd place. Proud Paw Paw.

BO and BAM

3 Coons and 1 Possum, Game was moving tonight! Took them to Haunted House Bottom first and Bo struck then Bam. They worked the track for about 10 minutes then Bam located a few times at 438yds but didn't really like it. Bo came in and located there to but didn't like it either. A few minutes went by with one or the other opening now and again and finally Bam crawled back on it and treed. Got in there and it was a blown over big tree and he was treeing up on the stump end with the big pile of dirt and Bo was working the trunk of the tree that was up off the ground about 6' or so and Bo was going down it bawling out locates. I looked around and it was laid against a big dead snag that was about 20' tall and I looked to the top and could see the back of a coon stuck up above the rotted top. Figuring it was a Sow we left her alone and loaded up and went to Black Branch Swamp. Cut them down the Creek and Bam went to the right some and Bo to the left. Bo went to trailing and Bam opened Hot and fell treed blowing the top out. I had a bad feeling on this one because he sounded mighty excited and his treeing was a little different than it should have been. Possum. I popped his muzzle a couple times, led him 50yds and pulled out my Magic Wand and cut him loose. He headed straight back to the Possum and as soon as he opened his mouth I shut it for him with my Magic Wand. He came back to me and I ignored him and in a minute he drifted out of there headed Away from the Possum Tree. By this time Bo was treed 610yds South so I eased out to the 4 wheeler and went to him. he was treed on a big water oak and had the Coon and I took a picture of it, petted him up and we started out. Bam was treed again almost 400yds from us so I loaded Bo and we drove to within 80yds of him. Bam had a Coon in the top of a small Turkey Pine. I rewarded him and poured on the Love and we went on home Happy. Good Hunting!

SINKER CYPRESS

Yesterday and today was all about getting this Big Sinker Cypress Log out of the River here at the house. In top picture with the saw that hump of dirt in the background with the two small trees coming out of the left side, that is the stump of this Sinker Cypress. Next picture is of a 10" Snatch Block, 8 ton hooked underwater to a buried oak in the bottom of the river to pull the Sinker sideways. I had another block on the Sinker, Doubling my pulling power. You can see the big caved in hole in the top picture behind the Sinker Stump where I pulled it out of the bank where it has been buried for 100's of years. Bottom picture is Freckles checking it out. Justin and I had pulled most of it last year. 50' if I remember right and had cut it loose right at the bank. The flood washed out the rest for me. After cutting the stump loose which was 8' tall, its in 4' of water in top picture and its on bottom, the log I got was 12' long, 51" wide left to right at the widest point and 39" high top to bottom. Fine Sinker with extremely tight grain. It put a 5 hour whipping on me yesterday and I was so wore out I didn't hunt last night but I was mad at it today and got the job done. She's in the yard and tonight its back to Hunting!

BLUETICK DAYS

Well the Big Hunt is about here and we as ready as we can get. Bo been looking pretty good and we have our Cargo Trailer packed with the things we bringing to sell. Rained out from hunting last night and its raining now but hope it quits so I can put Bo in the woods one more time. Looking forward to this Hunt and meeting the Bluetickers from across the Country. They calling for rain here at the house Thursday and Friday but don't think the chance is as great in North Mississippi. Looking for good weather and some good hunting!

BO and BAM

Pictures of Bo treed on his 2nd Coon tonight. You can see Coon in the picture above and just to the right of center of the bright spot. Cut him and Bam at Haunted House Bottom first and they ran a hot one but treed split 20yds apart with Bo on a big gum and Bam on a big Oak. I found Both the Coons. Took them to Black Branch Swamp and Bo opened a few times at 100yds but then drifted out a couple hundred without opening and Bam trailed out 400yds then treed. Bo went in and checked him but left without saying anything and when he left so did Bam so I figure it was a Possum. Bam struck and went south and Bo came back within 90yds of me and fell treed with this Coon. Took video and some pictures then headed home. Bo has been looking sharp and so has Bam for a Pup and I have been lucky and found a bunch of their Coon the past couple weeks even with all the leaves. Coon have been moving the best I have seen and hope it continues for Bluetick Days. Good Hunting!

BO WINS!!

Bo and I tried our luck in BBOA's Young Guns Senior Division last night. Drew out with some Super nice Blue Hounds and Super nice Guys. All Male Cast. First tree all dogs treed together, couldn't find coon up the big, leafy tree. Then two hounds split a ways down the road from another that was treed and as we were shining that ones tree Bo treed 30' away. We finished shining the tree, then went to the other hounds scored that tree then back to Bo. They had got hot from treeing so long. All circle trees so far. 33 minutes left in hunt cut them for last time. Judges dog treed 1.02 miles in front and to the right of us. 5 minutes left in hunt Bo opening then treed .73miles in front and to left of us. Time ran out then other hounds struck and treed behind us a long ways. I know the feeling of treeing coon when hunts over or during timeout but last night was BO's night as he had the meat when we finally got to him and was treed near a very dangerous deep gravel pit and less than a 100yards from a house with a Big, Mad German Shepard. We got away from there without getting mauled or shot. The other two hounds had their coon when the guys finally got to them. Bo had second strike and first tree so 200 Plus Cast Win! Don't know yet if he was High Scoring Dog for his Division or not but regardless I'm proud of him for winning against a Grand Night, a Night and an Open Reg. All 3 were very nice hounds and it was anybody's hunt to win down to the last second. If other coons would have been found it could have went 3 other ways but Luck finally smiled on BO. Winning Picture Above!!

BO and MASON

Just some pictures of my Little Buddy with his favorite Hound. He wanted to go hunting with his Paw Paw and Bo last night and he was so tired I just couldn't let him and he cried when I left and it bothered me bad. He is determined to go tonight and is wore out again and the walking we did last night there is no way he could hold up and no way I could tote him the miles we traveled so don't think I'm hunting tonight. His tears breaks my heart and some things are more important to me than trying to win a cast. Plenty more nights and hunts if I choose to go. Think we will make us a fire here on the lake by the cabin and watch the deer come out to feed before dark. Been long day with being a Vendor but won't do it again. Not many people here at Bluetick Days and I don't even see them buying dog stuff. Mason had some of his River Tinkler Rocks 2 for a dollar. We had him collect them and put them in a basket that a coon is holding trying to teach him a good work ethic and about doing business. He was so excited picking up those jingling rocks every weekend and the dollars he would make. He hasn't sold ONE ROCK! I took him and Bo outside today and text Beverly to put some money in his little pouch and toss a couple rocks away and tell him he sold some while we were outside. He was so Happy when he saw his 3 dollars. My brother is coming tomorrow to buy all the rocks and that will make my Little Buddies Day but after tomorrow our Vendor Days at Hunts is OVER.
