Ole Lex was a good one.

I sure miss ole lexus. Miss shadow too. Time goes by to fast sometimes.

Buck rode along with me tonight in 40+ mph winds while we roaded Haze and Frog. Treed two. One short chase, only 100 yards. The second we were not that fortunate. We lost signal at over 900 yards. I started in after them and walked almost 700 yards before I picked them back up.....they were treed at 1000 yards from that point. When I got to the tree, I checked the distance back to the truck and it was exactly 1 mile, not counting all the hills and ridges I had to go back over...lol.

Got a few pictures on this tree. Frog will always tree where the coon went up, so she is on the small tree that went into the big one that Haze is on. A couple of cool pics with Father and Daughter.

Was going to call you last night, then we got a call and I had to go be with one of my youth leaders at the E.R. She is having surgery this afternoon. I ended up getting in the woods around 10:20 last night, never made tree. Ran one decent track I thought, not sure what happened, maybe a hole or something.

Sheba.....2013 Southern Days Overall Champ

Sheba.....the red headed step child.....entered her first hunt Thursday night being handled by David Linkous of the Cartel. This little female won first place in the RQE on thursday night, first place registered on Friday night and 4th place registered on Saturday night. 1300+ and no minus and 3 cast wins was good enough to be the Overall champ for southern days. Nice job linkous!! This also adds another nite champion to the Haze and Sally cross. Guess that cross qualifies as a supercross now.

Thanks John, I had a good time considering the bug I had. I wish Frog would have been on her game that night......she started bleeding either Sunday night or early Monday morning....she is one female that her heat cycle makes her get pretty quirky. It looks like she will always have the february -aug/sept heat cycle, so that takes out southern days and autumn oaks each year. Time to get a male I guess....

HAZE come in at 21.28%, he is almost at the father daughter cross. notice this, many people are reluctant to make close crosses but don't realize that they are eventually producing the same result by continued linebreeding. his avk is at 43.65% and that is the limit, most would want to keep it above 50%. this is a 6 generation and most all dogs will increase in numbers if you go farther back in the ped like this. though bomber, bell, go man sam, and rusty red gave the greatest contribution you can see that 10 dogs out of all this 6 generation played the greatest part in his production because they were the ones that was linebred upon through out this pedigree. haze should be a candidate for not only continued linebreeding, or partial outcrosses, but especially for dogs with open pedigrees, for he will doninate in such crosses. of course as i stated earlier
[ IF THE SELECTION PROCESS MEETS YOUR CRITERIA ] you have to appreciate all the time and effort that went into this ped through the years. but.... let me throw this out for some of us that are getting old ,,,LOL,,,,,, you can obtain 25% coefficient in just one cross,,,, so there is hope for us older guys. ,,,LOL,,,,,

Lexus was a pleasure to hunt......nice leggy hound, nice mouth and hard hard tree dog. She was accurate too. Looking forward to getting her back into the breeding.

Hey Pastor Mike, How did Ole Lexus's Litter out of JJ Junior ever turn out? I know Kelly Hyde had a female named Bean out of that cross.

Hi Cory. I'm really not sure, I didn't own lex til later. I did hear of a couple of those pups down south that were doing well years ago and I think at least one had some wins but I don't know if it ever finished. Kelly said bean was a nice accurate female but was a little slow coming on a tree if I remember right. I've always wanted to do an offspring report on her but never did since she died. The litter out of jake turned out pretty good. I know of two males that were turning the crank but got killed on the road cause they hunted deep. I know of another female is dead. That leaves 3 females and 1 male. Kevin's sage female has 2 firsts and should finish this summer. Faith is going back to her owner tomorrow and will be put in hunts each weekend during march. Faith was raised by a friend of mine in michigan and had treed over 100 coon by herself by the time she was 10 months, now after maturing, she doesnt come back when turned loose, have to get her off a tree somewhere. One female was in South Carolina and was a nice dog last I heard about 3 years ago. That only leaves 1male that Rodney got for a stud pup.....haven't heard from Rodney in years.

That's about all I know at this point, if I find out more I will post it. Thanks.

Thanks for the info Pastor Mike! Kelly's Bean female was bred to Zack Krasa's Bone dog out of Doc X Fiddle several years ago and produced my NTCH male. I always saw Lexus on the papers but didn't know much about her.
