Trip

We drove to Roanoke today and took Sage to Scarlett Overton to see if they would show him at winter classic. She said ok. They are really nice people and she showed us and the kids some pointers. If Dana and I do our part hopefully he will get his chance on the big stage. We are excited.

Performance Sire

We repaid the performance sire money for Tonto. He is paid up for 2011.

Dana talked me into performance sireing Sage. We are starting to push him more in the woods and he is coming along and doing a nice job. We have held him back on the bench or he would already be finished to GS. He currently has two wins on the bench. He has one litter on the ground in Missouri before we owned him. I would rather not breed him until we finish him in the woods. We are not sure when that will be but I thought it might save money to go ahead and pay the $100 in case I change my mind. Just an explaination to those who watch coonhound bloodlines like I do.

Jazz

At this point we have all but decided not to push Jazz in the Bboa zone 6 hunts this year. She may make a couple but her hunt schedule and heat cycle conflict too much with too many of the zone 6 hunts. We are pleased with the results from last year. Jazz hunted in 3 Bboa zone 6 hunts. She was queen of hunt in all three. Only blueticks were eligible for that. Most importantly she was the overall high scoring dog of all breeds at two of them. She hunted nitech in those two. The third was not her typical hunt. Oh well they are dogs. I am proud to co own her with Brian Hutchinson. I'll post a pic of jazz and most of her trophies she won last year. She hunted in 17 total hunts in 2010. She won a few casts but didn't get the nitech win. Three of them she was pregnant. She started out registered with no wins and 15 hunts later made grandnitech. That was a fun run in 2010.

Hunt

We had a great time hunting at Barry Green's place. Barry is a great host and friend. It was good to meet Clyde Murphy and hunt with Brummy. Brummy has a great drive and will sure go deep to tree a coon. Clyde's young female did a nice job too. Shaun Quinn, Dana, Beaux, Tyler, and myself hunted Grnitech Mad Dog All Jazzed Up, Grnitech Grch Cypress Creek's Black Furnace (black and tan), Nitech Grch Mad Dog Glo 911, and Mad Dog Sage. All dogs were hunted in alternating casts and were fed plenty of coon. It was fun for all of us (except Shaun and Furnace) to knock some rust off our hounds. All dogs looked good and I think I speak for us all to say the hounds wore us out. Ha! Ha!

Took a couple of dumps to get a little rust knocked off for sure but they all settled in and were acting right by the end. I sure do like Jazz's locate, it ain't no doubt about it when she looks up, and QUICK on both ends too!

None of the pictures turned out very good Lance, I guess we were too busy pulling them off trees and going to split trees to take the time to really get any good pictures lol

Barry thanks again for a fine hunt. If I had that place close to my house I'd hunt 8 nights a week!

We'll have to do that again soon. It was a great time and not as far a trip as I thought. We were home by 4 am. We'll stay in touch. We'll get some pics to post next time.

Sounds good, I got home around 3:45 it's not too bad of a ride. Actually well worth it for me, Barry's got a real nice place over there.

glad all you guys and gal came down to hunt with me.it was good to get out and tree some coons. think all the dogs looked good at one time or another. that last dump with jazz and brummy getting deep with the meat done me in. you guys are welcome anytime. good to see all yall again!!!

Florida State Bboa Hunt

We had a great time. I had no idea the hunting spots would be as nice as they were. I hunted nitech grch mad dog glo 911. She did a really nice job for me tonight. The first dump she had first tree but the male walker we were hunting with split from her and another blue female. All three really treed with class. We found his coon. Unfortunatly our tree had lots of moss and was into another evergreen. Ours was circled. The whole hunt ran out on drop 2. I am really proud of 911 tonight. She did a great job and hunted hard. It just was not meant to be tonight. We had lots of blue females entered compared to males. No males finished in plus so there was no King of hunt. It was cold and tough hunting tonight. All casts struggled to get points. 911 did win grch female. We will post pics of the winners in the next couple of days on a new thread. Congratulations Nathan Green and his walker male. They won our cast and deservingly so. I really enjoyed their company.

Furnane

Shaun won King and high scoring dog at the black and tan sectional in lawley al last night. Cypress Creeks Black Furnace is the name of Shaun's hound. Congratulations to them.
