We only got about an inch here Dave. It did a lot of snowing but the ground was warm enough that it didn't stay on long. Wasn't bad at all. I have been just soo very lazy this week. Grand kids on spring break, and I'm getting to have a little time with them so have not hunted at all. Probably going to go tomorrow night & Sat. Night.

I thought I seen where Rory got in at Souther English Days. Sure glad to here that. Also seen my friends Randy Selby & Donnel Oxley made a splash with their dogs as well. Sure Happy for all the winners and expecially these folks. Think I will try to make that hunt next year. We have been holdng an English Sectional on that same weekend at our club for the past 7/8 years so I havent been able to get away, but I think I will go next year, "Good Lord Willing" of course.

Yes it is finally coming Doug. I'm sure glad it is. I see you have been hunting pretty regular. I hope your back is now much better.I went through some of that a few years back and I know how miserable that can be.

Thanks for giving us all the opportunity to get a piece of LE. He sure is a nice hound and is certainly doing his part to improve our breed. I'm seeing so many folks that are hunting young dogs off him that are liking them very much. You can sure be proud of that.

I am now playing with a NEW spring project. He is a little on the ugly side to look at but I sure do like his ability, and disposition. With a little fine tuning he seems like he just may suit me, LOL. I sent my Hanna female over to my nephew, he is starting to hunt again. He is treeing coon with her but she is still showing tendencies of being a little too tight on the ground for me. Some of that tightness is coming off Jays old female (Nt. Ch. Barrett's Starr) Starr was directly off Billy Blue and a female that was a Great Grand pup to Boyds Little Joe. Starr was a cooon Catching machine, but had a tendency to get pretty quiet on medium and cold tracks. That being said though, she was one of the best coon treeing hounds I ever followed. Didn't matter if it was 8:00 at night or two in the morning, she treed coons with ease all night long. My Holly female operates a little like starr as well.

Took Ole Holly to our monthly club hunt last night. Man did we have fun!! It was a GREAT night to be out under the stars. Dogs did some great work, and the comrodry was extrodinary. We sure had some fun.

Were gonna start holding some HTX hunts next month. Think I will put my young prospect in a couple of them to see how hes looks by himself.

Well Holly's coming into heat but decided I have too many young dogs to work to breed her this time around.

So I am having fun right now with a 14 month old cracker box with a million dollar locate and an OH MY GOSH treedog. So one of these days I'll post a video of him and my other secrete weapon LOL!!

Hello Frank, sure good to hear from you. Sorry to hear about your health. But you know sometimes them hounds is what keeps us going. Thanks so very much for having faith in these Hooper Ridge hounds. Glad you like him. I would love to see him go one night. Maybe we can get hooked up before it gets too hot.

I'll be breaking one of my secrete weapons out this fall, LOL!!! I like a lot of things about him, but there are a couple things he will need to improve on to be great. As you know, they just don't make one that's perfect, but I sure would like to have one LOL!!!

Holly

Well Ole Holly is now out of heat. Took her hunting last night to start getting her a lil tuned for English Days. One coon she out smarted, and one coon out smarted her LOL. We had fun, and sure enjoyed the spring night!!!!

Holly was mad at me as she wasn't quite ready to quit when I got her home. She moped all the way to the kennel and didn't want to go back inside. Danged ole gal anyway!!

Well danged if Ole Holly didn't pass her first hunt test last night. I sure was skeered cause I been readin so many danged posts bout these Gr. Nites that cannot tree their own coon.

Well shucks, I though maybe it was a curse or somethin. But you know what, she went out there struck an treed a coon just like she had done, it the past 700 to 800 times.

Son of a Gun, I guess maybe some of them ole Gr. Nites CAN tree a coon by themself LOL!!!

English Days & Good Hounds

Well Ole Holly & I made it home safely from English Days. What a great weekend of Coonhunters & Coonhounds coming together for a weekend of Friendly Competition.

Sure was good to see many of my old friends and got to make some new ones as well. I love hunting Gr. Nts. at major events. You not only get to hunt with some of the finest hounds in the country, you get to hunt with some of the finest sportsmen & women too.

I can honestly say all the dogs that I drew both nights showed they had the ability to tree their own coon. Good Luck to all You folks that I got to hunt with and I send a SPECIAL CONGRATS to all the winners at English Days.

Great Hunt with Great hounds, surrounded by Great Judges & Guides, to also include a GREAT facilities equals a GREAT TIME!!! THANK YOU ALL!!

Just got back from Myrtle Beach. Though the ocean is a beautiful thing to see, I sure seemed glad to get back home to my hounds. And they sure seemd glad to see it was me coming to feed them. I guess maybe I spoil over them a bit from time to time, but I think it pays off in the long run.

Ole Holly is a looking at me and wondering when am I going to open the gate an load her up for a trip to the woods, LOL!! Well ole girl it's gonna be another night as it is still 82 degrees an 54% humidity. I think I'll just kick back an enjoy another glass of sweet tea!!

Dave my brother Brian lives in Myrtle Beach so we get down there once a yr. He lives close to the House of Blues, loves music and loves to show people around so if you head back that way let me know Im sure he would love to show you around!

I know what you mean I hate to be away from home too long worry bout my hounds! Take care Dave sure hope you and John Walters can make it up for a hunt this fall I will show you the wild side of NY!!LOL!

Well we finally went hunting Sat. Nt. an Holly looked decent . Turned her an Hanna loose, couple of times, hit one good track and one older feeder track. Love it when you don't have to walk too far in this ole summertime heat.

We will not be holding a youth hunt this year, but are making plans right now to hold one again next summer. It is usually held in early July but we will see what we can work out with UKC for a good date.

Sorry for any inconvenience we may have created this year. Our hope is that we can continue with this next year and provide a quality hunt for all the kids next year!!
