Got to finally start hunting my Dixie female. Her first time out of the pen she handled good, loaded, didn't make a mess in my dog box, didn't stand around when turned loose, and came in when I called her. Hasn't ever seen a coon and didn't get anything done but I was pleased with her first time out.

Ordered a new garmin 300 after reading reviews. I just hope I can figure it out quickly. The maps look awesome and it is more easy to update.

Took Whip out for his first hunt after treating him for erlichia. Made 5 drops and went 5 for 5 with some having multiple coons. I was a happy man and Larry's got his smile back. God is good!

The last 3 nights have been wonderful in the woods. Whip has looked as good as any I've hunted. The weather has been great and the hunting awesome.

Took Whip to his first hunt since treating him for tick disease. Had a great cast of guys and hounds. We picked up the win and had a good time. God is good!

Had a good hunt last with Brandon Short and Larry Hamlin. I think we looked at 5 coon. Brandon has a nice female that is honest. Had a great time with friends

Went hunting with Brandon Short again tonight. It wasn't pretty but we did manage to tree 7 and seen several more. Trying to get Whip back in shape is going to take some time but I'm having fun getting there.

Had church last night, but got back at it tonight. Hunted with Larry, Brandon, and BJ. If I counted correctly we looked at 5 coon. My gsrmin died, Brandon's light died and we still managed to get 4 hounds back to the buggy. Had a great time hunting with friends.

Had a sorry hunt tonight. Didn't get anything done right tonight. Guess the only thing about tonight that was good was the laughs I had with my friends Johnny Stout and Tommy Nixon. We took turns making fun of dogs lol

I've learned a lot about the effects that these tick diseases have on our hounds. Doxycycline is a great antibiotic but doesn't take care of everything the tick disease causes. Doxy simply puts the disease in remission and goes dormant in the joints and bone marrow. I've learned to also treat that problem with glucosamine and it helps to prevent physical breakdown. This tick disease will cause a great hound to look like a dud so don't get discouraged because they simply don't feel good and can't perform.
