I am glad to hear that you were out getting some exercise last night.
Good luck to everyone at Autumn Oaks
Jason, Shannon and Roc got beat but they at least tried. I sure am proud of Blake and Winnie. For an inexperienced handler and a dog still trying to recover from Erlichia, they did great. Blake won his cast Fri night with 125 plus but it took 175 to advance. On one tree they minused his strike twice. Winnie wasn't treed in and came to meet them so they minused her strike correctly. Then she went back to the tree which was slick so they assigned her next available and minused her strike again and tree. Second time she should have been struck with a line under and not minused those strike points. That cost them a trip to the World Finals. On Sat night, at the end she was split with a tree all by herself to win the cast but they couldn't find her coon. There is always next year. Blake has a lot of years left and Wendy has a lot of pups left.
All we can do is keep trying. I told pops on the way over there that I wanted to at least win my cast 1 night to be in the running and I accomplished that but we had a good time and enjoyed ourselves. Winnie looked pretty good Friday night but was wore slap out after the first drop on Sat night. I guess its time to get her back in shape and put some wins on her.
I will be up there tomorrow night to check on Twi and Rhonda. Jason and I are going hunting if anyone wants to go.
Jason has one piece of the puzzle and I have the other. We are going to swap them out. He is going to hunt Bolt and I am going to hunt Rhonda for a month.
Talk about a half brother/sister cross, just look at this. What a linebred outcross. This is what I learned at the Hyde/Marshall school of coon dog breeding.

That's all right. Jason has your dog. She looks good.
Bolt on his first Virginia coon. Jason and I had a great hunt.
Bolt (Ranger X Wendy) and Twilight (Pigeon River Big Red Jim X Wilma).... I have always heard that an Uncle X Niece was the best linebred cross to make.
Twi and Bolt lined up side by side. What a sight. I just love it when a plan comes together.
The weatherman keeps saying that Fall is coming but he lies a lot. I can't wait. Here is Rhonda last night.
I think it was hotter yesterday than it has been all summer it was terrible. Good thing I took last night off to let Winnie get some rest for the hunts this weekend.
Rhonda and I are liking this cooler weather.
What a beautiful cool bright moonlit night it was last night. I sat on a bridge on a back country road and listened to Rhonda work an old bad feeder track along the edge of the lake all by herself.
She reminds me so much of her geat grandmother that it almost brought a tear to my eye. She took it along the lake and then left the water, heated it up and finally treed on the top of a big ridge. Her loud clear chop was just a ringing off that ridge and across the water. Nights like that are what keeps me going. I almost felt young again.
When is fall getting here? It was humid as all get out last night. Winnie hunted her butt off and couldn't come up with a ringtail last night. Garmin said she went 4.5 miles and ended up treeing a really nice grinner. And that was hunting off feeders.

Hurricane brought the Carribean weather all of the way up here and dumped it on us. But the lows are supposed to be 48-49 next week.
Stupid Hurricane
Hot and humid here last night. Felt like August. Weather was hot but so was the action!

Hot and humid again last night but we finally got one treed about midnight. It is supposed to finally cool off some tonight. I can't wait.
Jason, you did a great job with Rhonda. I took her to a little $KC hunt last night and won $54. I drew out with 2 Gr Nt Ch's. Now do the same with Bolt.
