Deacon- Hussler

Hey Tom here's a shot of Hussler - Deacon last night.

Lookin' good

Dogs are lookin' good Tim...it's hotter than heck up this way so I would imagine that it has to be pretty much the same or worse down your way. Those two young males look pretty good and with fall and winter just around the corner, it should be a fun season.

I guarentee you make to trip down here and we will find someone to go after the dogs and you can count on Buck to set in the truck with you. Heck we will even carry walkie talkies and let you hear the dogs tree when we get there

Plan

Sounds like a plan Dave...heck...if I keep on feeling better like I have been, maybe I'll leave Buck sitting alone in the truck and make a couple of trips to those trees myself.

It's something I've always wanted to do...just take the time, travel around a bit and turn some hounds loose. Being able to see you all again is what really makes it worthwhile and what would motivate me to do it.

Fall and winter are right around the corner and time passes...we'll see what the future has in store for us...eh?

Nice

Good lookin' pup Carl, he's sure put together nice. Collide makes some real nice pups and dogs and it looks like he and Chance fit together pretty good by the looks of him. I've seen the pictures and video of some of those pups getting after a coon so I'd guess they're going to be a real nice crew...it will be fun watching them grow up.

Tom, I guess that the Dr was right. You did not have Lymes Disease after all. You had something new that is just like Lymes Disease! Maybe they will call it Tom's Disease. Aren't you glad that you went ahead and started the antibiotics without a diagnosis? Sometimes you have to just "treat" the symptoms.

Trevor Bayne, the Daytona 500 winner was out of commission for several weeks with an unknown illness. Amazing, he responded to Lyme treatment even though he tested negative.

Yep...I guess the old addage is as true as ever when it comes to Lymes...if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...by golly...it must be a duck.

I've been bitten by ticks so many times in my lifetime that it's amazing that I've never developed anything before this. I know one thing for sure though...since I started taking the antibiotics, it's like night and day for the better. I've got one more day left on the pills and I'll be done so we'll see what happens when I quit taking them. I feel as good as I have in a long time but I haven't been doing much to stress the system either...we'll see how it goes.

To anyone out there who has those kinds of symptons...headache, shakes, slight fever, sore all over and as weak as a new born puppy...don't mess around, get it treated and don't settle for the "it turned out negative crap" demand that you get the antibiotics because from what I hear and know, it's hard to diagnose at times and many times it never shows positive for Lymes. I talked to a friend who had it so bad he was hospitalized and never once did it test positive...he had to get antibiotics intravenously for 10 days and then another month and a half on pills and it was Lymes all along.

Anyway, I guess we'll have to deal with what ever comes along if we're gonna keep chasing these hound dogs, we just need to pay attention to subtle changes or something like Lymes can knock you down for the count.

The weather is supposed to moderate finally with cooler days and much cooler nights so hopefully we can get a dog out a night or two and start the process of getting ready for the late summer and fall hunts...it sure feels good to not have to deal with so much heat and humidity, even for a few days. My sympathy goes out to all you poor folks down south and west...what a miserable run of hot weather you have had to deal with.

Tom

Glad to hear your feeling alot better.
Don't want to burst any bubble but wanted to tell you about a neighbor that had "undiagnosed" lymes. He got on the antibiotics and he got better also. Everytime he quit the antibiotics in about a month he would start feeling bad again. this went on for about a year . he finally stayed on the antibiotics for alot longer than the doctors had wanted him to but by staying on them now it seems he is finally over the lymes.

In short the doctors had a hard time diagnosing the lymes and they also didn't get the length of time on antibiotic correct either.

Hope you have better luck than he did.

wishing you well.

Thanks Kelly, I appreciate that information. I have heard similar stories including the friend of mine that was on antibiotics in the veins for 10 days and then a month and a half on pills after that.

Although I feel better, it worries me so if I deteriorate in any way...I'll just jump on the stuff I have here for the dogs What the heck? Same stuff...and it wouldn't be the first time...

Lymes is a nasty bug to deal with and now that I've had a bout with it, I'll be less likely to push the dogs like we have in the past. Time is what we make it...pushing it doesn't make it last longer...

Sight for sore eyes...

Now that's a set of pictures to lay eyes on...I wasn't sure for awhile if we'd ever see that again so he's really a sight for sore eyes.

A little at a time and he's back doing what he's bred and born to do...what a great bit of news.

I hope Buck is doing as good as ol' Moose, I know he wasn't feeling too good but it's a joy to hear that he made it to the tree and that Moose got back in the woods.

Got a NITECH win on Red Friday night

(NITECH FICKEN"S GREATFUL DEAD RED) We will get him there (GRNTCH), hope to have 3-5 wins before Dec 2011, John Dell

Posted by topdog on 08-08-2011 02:17 AM:

GDR

Congratulations John, it's good to see that you got a win on Red. Sometimes it seems like a heck of a task to get done but it will happen, he's good enough to win and he's still just a real young hound yet with his best days ahead of him if I guess right.

I'm looking forward to this fall, it's going to be a good time with these young dogs that we've got started. The old dogs are a little fat and sassy but they're shiny as a new penny and anxious to get back in the timber...hopefully it will be a good fall and winter for us both.
