Congrats John on another win with Red. Shouldn't take long to finish him the rest of the way. Good Luck with him.

Thanks Pastor Mike

Kind of feeling blessed to have Red, he is a pretty nice hound and he is still maturing. John

100%

Yep, I'll have to say that I'm feeling as good as I have in awhile. I finish the pills in a couple of days and it feels good to not have any symptoms at this point.

The weather is cooling down some, we're going to hit close to 51 by morning and only mid 70s for several days upcoming. The corn is shooting cobs and the coons are in it so I'm about ready to give it a try for a night or two...we'll see how I hold up.

I'm also ready to get the pen cleaned up and get a coon on duty so I can start messing with the young dogs again on these cooler mornings on the weekend...I'm looking forward to it for sure. I've got a couple real nice young prospects that need some further education before they hit the woods on a regular basis.

When Dave gets back and starts up again in a couple of weeks, we'll be going at it pretty hard...gotta get these hounds in shape...fall is just around the corner...eh?

Hunt

Yank and Gun finally got to the woods but it took my good friend Jeff to get them there. Jeff farms and the coons are raising all kinds of heck with his corn so he took Yank and Gun to see if he could reduce the population a bit. Jeff has been having fun with them and he sent me a few pictures...these are really good shots and it sure gets me thinking about getting back at it.

Gun and Yank & Jeff

Gun and Yank ( I love this shot)

Big ol' boy backed up in the brush...

It's getting better in Wisconsin...the days are cooler and the nights are down to 60 on most nights over these last several days and the forecast says more of the same and even cooler over the next 10 days.

I wouldn't trust just anyone with these hounds but Jeff knows the ropes and can get to where ever the dogs go. We've got a pretty good group of dogs here and it's hard to hunt them all so it's a good mutual arrangement. He knows how I feel about both these dogs and he's enjoying the process and saving some corn rows at the same time...life is good...eh?

When Dave gets back around, we'll take Bo and Griz and help him put a serious dent in that coon population...I'm looking forward to it for sure.

Friday night

Jeff and Heidi took Yank and Gun again on Friday night and had another good hunt...3 drops...3 trees...3 coons.

The dogs are getting in shape and Jeff is having some fun.

Gun stretched out...

Yank is steady and reliable and Gun is a TREE DOG! It's fun when a young hound starts putting it together and Gun is coming on real nice. He's starting to line our some tracks and he's hitting the tree ahead of Yank now and then...I'll have to say that he reminds me of Moose in some ways, he's very loud and has an outstanding tree style.

Gun looks good but he just turned 13 months old on Friday so he's not much more than a pup yet. He's coming of age at the perfect time because our season is just around the corner. Believe me folks...this pup is real easy to like and shows a lot of the good stuff that I'm used to seeing.

We'll see what the fall and winter has in store for young Gun...If I guess right, folks will be hearing about him come spring.

Third week in August is next weekend...time to go hunting...eh?

Gun

Hey Tom i think Dave might have hit on something.
Hussler - Guns brother.

Tim

Hussler

He's looking good Tim. You're right, that was a cross that clicked and considering that they're all just babies yet, I love what I'm seeing out of them. By the end of this fall and winter, these youngsters are going to open some eyes.

Gun and Hussler

I loved the pictures of Gun and Hussler. The females are doing good to from what I have heard just no pictures. I haven't heard anything about Link either lately and he was a real nice young dog. The young hounds tree Ace style Nuff said. Dave

Hey Tom

How are you feeling?

I won another cast with Red on Friday night with 300 plus and no minus the other Nite Ch cast came in with 375+. A couple things about Red He is the most accurate hound I have ever owned and he hardly ever takes minus. When the leaves come off in the fall I would expect he will win ever cast. (Since I started putting him in the hunts he has won 4 out of seven casts and it would have been 5 but I made a mistake in one of the casts) We shall see, its a little frustrating getting cast wins and not getting a Nite CH win out of it, but it will come in time. This hound has got some good stuff, very quick stike dog, loud hard tree dog, likes to wind and is as accurate as they come. He may not be perfect but he has ALL of the right tools. Since he comes from a family of great reproducers and a good litter I would believe that he is worthy to be bred a bunch. Hopefully we will get a couple more cast wins soon, I will be hunting him this Friday and then at the Mini Slam at Autumn Oaks.

Thanks Tom for breeding this fine line of dogs, it has sure been a pleasure working with Red so far.

Blessings John

David, Ace looks good. What kind of feed do you use? How do you keep him so fat? I wish that I could put some weight on Tom and Sheba like that. They stay so skinny!

Posted by david woofter on 08-15-2011 04:29 PM:

Feed

I think it's more like of woods time and not so much the food he is eating. He eats 26 Protein and 20 fat Chicken based. Have a good day Richard. Dave P.S. My Mother just got out of the Hospital with throat Cancer Surgery so I have been back and forth to the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus Ohio the last few days. She is home now and doing good for 82. I did go hunting last night and treed two.

Posted by Richard Lambert on 08-15-2011 04:39 PM:

Sorry to hear about your mother. Mine had throat/neck surgery several years back. She was about 75 at the time. She was in Rehab for 3 or 4 weeks and then came and stayed with me for another couple of weeks. That was a tough time. I hope that yours gets over it quickly. I feed 27/18 and it is Chicken Based also. I really feel sorry for you working guys. I think Tom Tom wishes that I would sell him to some working guy but Sheba loves to go all night every night. You did twice as good as I did last night. When I got back to my Jeep wringing wet from sweat, I told myself that I am too old for this! But I am having waay too much fun, it must be illegal. On second thought, it probably was. I am glad that there was no Game Warden there waiting for me.

They are out of PR' T-Top Show-Time Coon Stopper Ace ( Yank and Angel ) and PR' T-Top Sweet Cherry ( Rabble and Mya ) Dave

Chest

If you notice Richard Hussler and Gun also have a nice chest and built stong in the front shoulder area. Dave

Posted by Richard Lambert on 08-15-2011 07:30 PM:

Yes Dave, I did notice that and actually I assumed that is why they look a little "heavy". If you remember, Tom Tom has a little skinny slim built chest and that is why I can't get any weight on him. Woods time or the lack of sounds better, though. I think that I will go with that, thanks.

Posted by dlinkous on 08-15-2011 07:32 PM:

Yes old Triple Ace aka Trip has a broad chest on him to Richard

Posted by Richard Lambert on 08-15-2011 07:35 PM:

Yes, Trip is built like a bulldog but he has a littermate brother that is built like Tom.

Posted by dlinkous on 08-15-2011 07:39 PM:

he acts like a bull dog when the meat hits the ground too. Bones go to popping and he means business

Posted by Richard Lambert on 08-16-2011 01:41 AM:

Trip has Rabble, Pete, Mongo and Zack blood running through his veins. You know that he means business.

Must be some good combinations Richard...Gun and Hussler have quite a bit of that same blood, at least the Rabble and Pete part.

Gotta love it when these youngsters start keeping you awake at night.

Wed night

Jeff had another decent night of hunting...

A different view of Gun...he's usually glued to the side of a tree...

Nice...

Jeff got this on one of his game cams...more trash to worry about...

Jeff is putting good time on these hounds, it's a great head start for the season.
