Andre decided on a name new name for Pie. She is now called Jewels. she's been to the woods 4 times now. Going out further and further. She was out 300 yards last night. Not running a track but out exploring. Already leash broke and just about done with the puppy jumping. Had her at the vet yesterday and she weighs 60 pounds. Andre is one happy lil camper. Thanks for letting her come here.

That's a good name for her, Scott. She's a big girl for 6 months! I guess what would a person expect out of Tater x Cherry though, huh?
Congrats to Chris Sweet and Gertie on finishing to NITECH! Gertie is a Grandpup of NITECH GRFCH GRWCH GRCH Red Fever Razor's Rip N Tear x GRFCH GRWCH GRCH Red Fever Worlds Foxxy Lady. Gertie is also a Grand Show, and at least has points (if not titles now) in the Water Races and Field Trials. Great job Chris & Gertie!
Aubrey and NITECH FCH GRCH Red Fever Full of Mischief (Ox x Trouble) had a cast win in Decorah this past Friday night, but another cast came back with more points for the NITECH win.
Congrats to Dan Rankin & crew on their 3rd place win back in September with Redwood Twisted Sister (Rip x Dice)! Great job guys
Aub's looking forward to kill season coming up here shortly. He always enjoys busting out the old dogs to train the up and comers. Plus he just enjoys having an excuse to see the old dogs work; they all have their special qualities about them, which we are working to preserve in our current and future generations.
Mischief & Baby treed
Their coon. They pushed this one pretty hard....looks like it barely made it up the tree

So, I'm a little behind schedule, but here is the annual video. Hope you all enjoy it. It is always fun making it, and looking back at the previous year with the red dogs.

We sold hides last week, so it was a good time for a photo opportunity. The first picture is of the females of the kennel....it was pretty much them that Aubrey hunted during season. We're pretty happy with the line-up, with the exception of Dice, the other 4 are pretty young. They did a nice job this season and treed a lot of coon.

In the last month.....
*Terry Goza put 2 1st and a 2nd on Country Girl (Ox x Rose), finishing her to NITECH.
*Kenny Deal put a 1st and 2nd on Reb (Rip x Maggie).
*Carl Gudgeon put a 1st and 2nd on Junior (Clyde x Chance) finishing him to NITECH.
*Bill Gudgeon put a 3rd place win on Thunder (Tater x Dice).
*Aubrey put a NITECH win on Sunni (Ox x Shiloh)
*Aubrey also put a 2nd place win on Baby (Rock x Star)
*Terry and Sugar (Ox x Rose) won 2nd place at the Heartland Classic on Friday night
That's wins on pups from all 4 of our stud dogs!
With Terry finishing Country Girl to NITECH, that should put his Rose female on the Historical Reproducers List, and with Sugar (and possibly a few others) coming along, it should cement her a spot on there for a while.
Clyde now has 9 titled pups out of 109 pups total, for a percentage of 8.3%.
As of March 25th, Ox is #7 on the Current Reproducers list, and should likely move up now with another NITECH to add to his numbers.

Since I last updated....
*Sugar (Ox x Rose) won second place at the Iowa State Youth Hunt
*Baby (Rock x Star) won her cast at National Redbone Days, but just missed placing in the RQE
*Reb (Rip x Maggie) picked up another 2nd place win and finished to NITECH
*Mischief (Ox x Trouble) picked up another NITECH win
*Fury (Rip x Rose) picked up another NITECH win
A somewhat interesting story.....We were wanting to breed our Baby dog this time around, and Ox and Rip were both dogs we considered, so we decided that Rip would be the one to try since he is now 11. We were not sure if he was sterile, though we had him drawn last year, and his sperm count was still very good, but the vet has said these things can change quickly. So, we bred Baby to Rip on the first day she would stand......9/21/16. Rip died the next day. So, to say we were skeptical that the breeding would take would be an understatement. It seems to have though, Baby appears to be bred!
So, anyway, the moral of the story is we lost ol' Ripper. He was a fun dog. Started early and easily, at about 8 1/2 months. He was split treeing from the older dogs shortly thereafter, and was a pretty independent dog (especially in competition), almost to a fault in our eyes. He had a beautiful bawl mouth. In almost every cast I ever spectated with Rip, people were commenting "that's how a hound is supposed to sound." Rip had a big, die-bawl locate that a kid could call, and was a good steady tree dog. He was a fun dog to run in the games too.....an excellent swimmer that would really launch out there nice. He had a good cold nose, and could really push a track. He currently has 78 pups, and 8 hunt titled pups for a reproduction rate of 10.25%. That would be pretty close to the top of the Reproducers list if we could have got him to 100 pups. The thing of it is, a large majority of Rip pups were sold to pleasure hunters, so when you take that into consideration....he really put his stamp on his pups, naturals.
I made a short video (see the link below) of Rip & his pups. Enjoy!
