Where can a man who doesn’t do Facebook find a couple of true busher bred curs close to east Texas?
Busher cur
I would love to find one here in NC also. Pup or broke dog either one. I also would like to try a Stephens Cur. Does anyone have pups or a broke dog that can be bought? I will drive a little for either one. Thanks in advance.

If you have an OMCBA yearbook you may contact Rick Dennis in Thomasville, NC. He will raise a litter occasionally. Not often, usually only when he needs a pup. Or he may know where you possibly could get one at times.

I tried looking up your website several times but I have never been able to get it to open successfully. I have seen your name if I'm not mistaken for long time on message boards here and maybe I think on squirrel dog central. I am in Whitakers NC probably not to far from you. Hate to hear you are winding down on messing with tree dogs. I quit messing coonhounds and with squirrel dogs for a while but now looking to get back at it.
I have been recently been monitoring this board and it seems to be kind of dead with very little activity. I went and checked out the SDC site and it has totally changed it's format and seems has changed not for the better. I do not see any activity there either. It use to be a lot of traffic over there about 8 maybe 10 years ago... I owned and was hunting a nice dog by the name of Plus Points Taz at the time. I am going to try a dog out tomorrow. Hope she will be what I am looking for. Take care,

I shut it down. I am no longer actively breeding any dogs. I do have a male here that some are breeding to but I am not raising pups.
I have had several back surgeries and the only squirrel hunting I have done was the last couple of young dogs I had I started them out on squirrels then switched them over on coons. That is all I primarily hunt now except a little fox squirrel hunting a few times a year.
My mobility isn't great, I cut the dogs loose from the tailgate and usually can maneuver around on a Mule and get fairly close to them when treed. Then walk straight to them and cut them again.
My dogs hunt deep and faster than most curs. Lots of folks don't like curs to hunt that way.

I like the large Busher type mt curs...I used to keep a line of Manning Texas Smoke dogs that I crossed with Kemmers Gold Nugget blood and maintained that bloodline for 20 years...also mixed a little old type OMCBA blood in the early years...
The Gold Nugget dogs had a tremendous winding nose and hunted well...they had plenty of hunt and grit...
The Texas Smoke dogs had a good nose but didn't wind like the Kemmer dogs...Texas Smoke dogs hunted faster and deeper and had almost bulldog grit in some of them...
Both lines had hunt and grit and most males I kept probably weighed 65 pounds and females around 50-55...
They came from tree dog stock but were used on hogs...
Texas Smoke was a world Champion coon and squirrel dog...
I owned and bred from one of his daughters...Her Dam was a daughter to Texas Smoke as well...Worked out perfect for my breeding program back then...
I didn't have much luck finding what I wanted in todays dogs...so I mixed kemmer with lots of Gold Nugget breeding with Plott hound...they look like old time mt curs and I like them...
