Because back in the 3rd or 4th hen they added bluetick into the strain. Same as some other good dogs.

Half breed Jessi was single registered as a walker in UKC back in the day before Xbred. Her littermate brother was single registered as a Bluetick. They were out of a Gr Nt Bluetick male and gr Nt walker female.

Thanks for the info. I figured that's what it was but wondered if I had missed something.

Correct, and that's the same cross that's back in on Trader.

Oh my goodness, Ace's great great great granddaddy was a bluetick? I understand why he is a 'PR' dog now. Does an off color dog that far back make him a cross bred? After all, UKC says that he is a Purple Ribbon bred walker. And who in the world ever said that Ace was "Junk"?

Wiemeraners bird dogs were mixed with redbones that’s where the Smokey color and natural bob tails come from.

You been at it as long as me I can tell you in the walker bloodlines were some of the hanky panky was ! And sombody let it slide because it would cost them to much to fix it. The dna ain’t right on a lot of dogs.

There might have been some shady stuff going on, but it didn't have anything to do with bird dogs.

Grandma would make us pies an cakes . Most the time they were good . She would slip up an make one that wasn’t up to par. We didn’t dare ask what she pup in it . We kept our mouth shut an ate it. Because the good outweighed the bad.

40 to 50 years ago there were quite a few 1/2 and 1/4 birddogs that were real coon dogs. Some didn't open much but hide hunters loved them. I always thought that is where we lost some of the ear off our dogs.

Some folks are still in denial about what really went on, it happened in all parts if the country. It was not just behind the barn breeding, false papers were put on dogs just to hunt in the registered hunts. Honest men were often victims of such practices. Dave

Were you one of those behind the barn, paper swapping, Dog Jockey's?

No, but I have been a victim buying a dog with false papers. I never traded or sold dogs. When I had one that did not suit me, I gave it away. Dogs were my hobby, I made a very good living in my professional career. Now tell us about yourself, were you a dog jockey? Dave

No! I'm not an expert, like you are!

Anybody want to go with one that has some bird dog in them ? Trees more coons in the daytime than most dogs tree at night. Looks like a blue English has a big ole bawl mouth come on down I will take you with him ( he’s not mine ). Anouther one wins a lot of $$$ hunts in the northern Oklahoma area.

They just don’t talk about it they just win.

I am no expert, but I am someone that has some knowledge of our hound breeds and how they got where they are. Some folks like yourself just run their mouth without any facts to back them up. Some say ignorance is bliss, not me! Knowledge is the real power, those who choose to believe that shady things did not happen or that their purebred stock is Lily white are in denial. If speaking out on this subject causes some to be butt hurt, then so be it. Dave

Back in 70's We had one of those short ears blue looking hounds; real tree dog. Couple of pups out of him would point. What you guys think going happen when "yote" hunters cross grey hound with their hound and then one of pups goes to treeing coons?? Then gets in "right" or "wrong" hands. Now that's some speed!!

Tar , I was always told that back dew claws were used for getting a toe hold while digging possums an skunk out of ditch banks. Dog locks it into 4 wheel drive so to speak.
