BLUE

Blue taking a swim today in the River. Super Smart Bold Pup. He's got it between his ears and if he has it in his Heart then he's gonna be a Good One. Not afraid of a thing and a little on the Rowdy side, just the way I like them. Got my Back Injections Monday Evening and they have helped. Less Pain, more Flexible and starting to do some catching up around here getting things cleaned up and a Dog Box made for the Rhino for the Pups. Not ready for hard work but I'm good enough to go back to Hunting if the Rain will let up. Me and the Doc hit it off pretty good. Went in the Surgery Room and he had Carlos Santana playing for music and next up was Eric Clapton. When they got done putting needles in my back and told me I could get up I apologized for them having to look at my Butt Crack but told the Nurses it just came with their Job. they got a laugh out of that and the Doc said he had seen worse, lol! I didn't let them Sedate me so I was able to drive me and Beverly on home. Doc said give it 3 to 5 days so hoping over the next few days I feel even better. If the rain will lay off tomorrow me and Bo going Hunting.

Steve I enjoy reading your posts and the pictures are awesome. It sure would be hard for me to stay out of that river. Looks like a good place to trout fish. Maybe some day Lord willing I can come down and visit.

River Life

Thanks Eddie, Mr. Jack and Wayne. Anytime you want to head South your more than Welcome Eddie. River is Full of Bass, Catfish, Bream, White Perch, ect. Mr. Jack, Blue is doing real good and he's a Sport. We going to Sleepy's and get the 2 females off Bo and Ann. Blue about to have some company to wrestle with instead of chewing on my boots and jeans all the time. Wayne hope all is good down your way. Good advice about accepting help when it's offered. I always been one to Log the River, Run the Saw Mill and Coon Hunt at least 95 percent of the time Alone. Just like doing my On thing at my On pace. Lot of times unless someone has worked around a Saw Mill or around Me, they just get in the way and slow things down trying to Help. But, if I'm ever to pull another Sinker Cypress or cut it and stack all the Lumber I will have to find help. Bo and I haven't hit the Swamp yet. My back is better but tender where they put those 2 Injections in and the Swamp is flooded so I'm waiting a couple more days before we give it a try. Probably be morning hunting because it is Very Hot and Humid at dark around here. You do anything outside during the day and you are wringing wet with sweat. Made me a Dog Box for my Rhino so I can haul those 3 pups around. Blue loves to ride especially if I let him lay on my lap while I drive the Rhino. He just watches everything go by and lays still until we stop. Smart Pup.

SINKER CYPRESS CALLS

Hope Everyone had a Great Fathers Day, I sure did. Top picture is Mason and Amber playing in the River Sunday while Beverly and Kim relax in the chairs. We took some of our Fish out of the Freezer and had a great Fish Fry with Hushpuppies, French Fries, Fried Squash and Green Tomatoes and lots of Veggies from the Garden. My Back is feeling a little better every day. Still got pain but nothing like it was. The Colorful Cloud Sunset picture is from yesterday evening as Storm Cindy continues to come this way. Sun didn't shine a lick yesterday but God got his Paint Brush out at 8pm last night and Lit up the Sky with 30 minutes of the most Beautiful Sunset I have ever seen here on the River. I moved a lot of my things out yesterday preparing for the Rain and Flood but good news this morning is Dry Air south of us broke up a lot of the rain that was headed my way and I'm positive we going to be fine. Will bring all my toys back tomorrow or Friday when I'm sure. Picked up my Pups from Sleepy Saturday and they have settled in here on the River. I have some pictures I will post later. Rose looks Exactly like Bo. Like twins. Me and Mason been having Fun with Blue, Motley and Rose. The next 2 pictures are of 2 Sinker Cypress Custom Made Coon Squaller's made by Josh Michaels. He took my Sinker Cypress Wood Blanks and turned them into a WORK OF ART! I sent him a dozen blanks to build my 7 calls. Mine will have the Copper Bands with my Kennel name on 3 of them, Mr. Jack's Kennel name on his 3 and Nick Jennings Kennel name on his. I also put them on Facebook and had 3 people wanting them already and will be sending the contact info to Josh. I sent him 2 different variations of the colors of Sinker Cypress I have. Every Log is different color depending on the length of time buried in the River and the type soil or sand gravel it's buried in as it absorbs the acid from the soils and that acts as a stain in the wood. He has sent mine off to have the Stabilizer put on them and he said that would make them Bullet Proof. We should have them in about 2 weeks. Anyone wanting one just let me know and I will pass the info on to Josh and ship him some more Sinker Cypress Blanks and when it's done he can ship direct to you. That way it takes me out as a Middle Man trying to get Rich off all you Wealthy Coon Hunters, lol!

MOTLEY CREW and ROSE

Picture of me holding Rose beside her Daddy, Bo. Look like twins to me, love it. Then Rose along the River today and Motley Crew bringing the Tennis Ball back to Mason. Between the rain showers we had a great time with all 3 pups. So far not near as much Rain as expected. Hope it stays that way.

First Hunt

Snow, Kim and Amber have been spending a few days with us on the River. The weather has finally got Sunny and Hot. We have went Swimming, Cool Pool, Ate lots of good Cooking, Treasure Hunted, Played with the Pups, Fishing and Coon Hunting. Bo hadn't been out in a while but Amber wanted to go on her first Coon Hunt so we took her last night across the road on the Cypress Creek. Cut Bo and he got gone fast, opened a few times then drifted out opening here and there and came treed hard way up River behind the house. He was on the Big Oak you see in the picture and when I hit the Squaller Loud and Hard that Coon spun around at the top of the tree and started down glaring at me with every step. I quit the squalling and he stopped but kept looking. First shot took his left eye out and down he came. Bo got his reward a few minutes then I bagged him up and came on out. We used the Coon Tail laying trails for the Pups this morning and they sure have the nose power to tree Lay Ups in the Future. I think Snow has a young Girl who Loves Hounds and Coon Hunting now and Kim will be getting her some Boots soon. Bo is out of shape as bad as I am but he couldn't have looked better and was sure proud to find that Coon in the big tree so Amber could get her picture took for her FIRST HUNT.

PUPS, KIDS and the 4TH of JULY

Hope everyone had a great and safe 4th of July. We sure did. The days just flew by and today was no different. Kids and Pups had a great time and I stayed busy playing with them or keeping an eye on them in the River. All 3 Pups are Very Brave and will hit that River headed to the other side and I have to get out there and get them pointed back to our side before the Deeper Water and Current gets a hold of them and takes them Downstream. Blue had a time with Mason. They have really Bonded and going to be a Great Team. Rose has took to me and me to her and Beverly claims Motley. Be fun when we start fooling with them in about 6 months. There will be some Fierce Competition between us hoping our pup will start the quickest and do the best. That Sun has really been Beaming and Hot the past 3 days. After all the heavy rains we have had, I'm not going to complain. Bo and I will be starting to get back in the grove this week. Back is better and letting me do things without all the pain I had been suffering with since October. I go back to Dr. on the 25th and will probably be scheduled for another round of Injections. If the first ones work they like to do a Series of them and I'm fine with that. Any more relief I can get I will be thankful for. God Bless America and our Troops.

Rained here most of the day. Loaded Flo, Echo and Dotty a little after 11 and headed out. Mother, daughter & granddaughter treed two trees with coon & caught one in the creek. Echo is from Bocephus. All three are good treedogs.

Swimming lessons for pups would be great.

KIDS and PUPS

Mason and Blue at the, " COOL POOL. " It's a Spring that flows up through the Rock Bar about 10 feet from the Rivers Edge. We dig it out and build a Beaver type Dam with a Spillway to let the water out. It must come from deep within the Earth because its at least 20 degrees colder than the River Water. We enjoy many a day laying and relaxing in the Ice Cold Water on Hot Summer Days. Blue and Mason are having a Blast every time he gets to come spend some time with us. Rose and Motley too. Blue is going to be as big as Bob or Bigger. He is growing fast and eats like a Horse. From what I've seen so far Blue is going to be a trailing hound and the Girls, Rose and Motley, are going to be nose in the Air, Layup Hounds. If they can wind a Coon like they can wind a snack I have hid then they going to be something special. Love all 3 and going to be Fun to write their Story as time goes on.

Dennis it sounds like you really have some fine hounds and to have several generations in the woods together getting it done speaks Volumes to the Breeding behind those Hounds. Take Care.

Josh is done with the Sinker Cypress Coon Calls and he's just waiting on the bands to be engraved with our Kennel Names and get them in his hands and they will be shipped to me. Mason and I can hardly wait to see that first set of eyes with those special calls. Mr. Jack said they going to work so good that if the tree is Slick just blow that Squaller and a Coon will be there Quick, lol! Yaw All need to get one of these!

ROSE and MOTLEY

Mason having fun with Motley and Rose the other day running the Sandbar along the River. The pups have all took to the water great and love their daily runs and swims. The Catalpa Tree has worms on them and we went fishing yesterday evening and this morning. We put 18 in the Old Cast Iron Tub and went and set the lines with the Big Hooks for the Big Flatheads. The 18 we caught are small half pound to 1 pounders and will be used on the limb lines tonight to try and catch the Big One. Mason had a blast getting woke up before 6am to go fishing with Pawpaw. Brought back memories of my own excitement as a kid the night before opening day of Any Season or Camping trip. He caught the first one and the last one this morning and learned how to cast a Spinning Reel. Memories Made are Memories Remembered Years from Now and we making Plenty of Good Ones.

The Catalpa Worms in the Top picture produce the small fish caught by me and Mason in the picture of him with them in the Old Cast Iron Tub and they produce Big Flathead Spotted Cats like the one we had this morning that is in the bottom picture in the Old Cast Iron Tub. Fun, Fun!

STILL FISHING

Thanks and yes I am Very Blessed and Never take it for Granted. I thank God for my Life Every Day. I hope you and Bolt have been treeing a few and enjoying Life yourself, Take Care.

I had another Big One on the Bamboo Pole this morning. The same Old Bamboo Pole that caught that Monster back in April. This one was caught using a Big Bream for Bait. The other picture is me swimming BO today and Rose out there with us. All 3 of these 10 week old pups are swimming like River Otters now with No Fear what so ever. Love my Bold Pups.

Still Catching Big Fish

Had another Monster Cat on the Line this morning so that's 3 Big Cats in as many mornings. This one came off the same Bamboo Pole the one from yesterday was caught on and this one was caught off a big bream too. He is so Big he Fills up the Old Cast Iron Tub. Half again as big as the one from yesterday. He weighs 45 to 50 pounds. That's 7 of these Big Cats I have caught here since April and all right here within a couple hundred yards of the House. Going to give them a rest until Thursday when Mason is coming over for a few days and going to try and catch a couple more with his help. Supposed to get Hotter and start drying out some this Week so hoping I can get back in the woods with BO. He sure needs to get Hunted because he has picked up a few pounds and has gotten to heavy. Few weeks of hunting will get rid of that extra weight.

Sinker Cypress Coon Squallers

Got the Custom Made Sinker Cypress Coon Squallers in the other day and they are sure nice. Looking forward to getting back to hunting and finding a few Coon with the new squaller. We have been having a lot of rain and right now the River is high and Rocking. Brookhaven had 16 inches in 24 hours Monday evening into Tuesday. That is North of me and the water is just now getting down our way so I expect the River to be high for about the next week. Hoping to get Bo's Fat Butt in the Swamps Soon.

ROSE

We started putting Rose on the Bench a couple days ago for just a couple minutes each day. We will increase that just a little each day as we work with her and Mason to get them Show Ready in a few months. I know her front legs need to be up under her more but not bad for just the 2nd time for her on the Bench. I have never fooled with one on the Bench so we are All learning as we go. Trying to give Mason something to work with and get involved with so I can Steal him away from Baseball, lol. Rose has Bonded Deeply with me and is such a sweet handling Pup that is very Mature and Calm yet Bold and Fearless all Rolled into one. Love this Bo look alike Pup.

HUNTING

The top picture is a Steel Trap I found along the River the other day after the High Water went down. It is so Old and been in the River so long it has turned into Sandstone. The Pan is not round but shaped more like the head of a Rail Road Spike. I'm not familiar with Vintage Traps so don't know what Era this one comes from but plan on researching it and finding out. We found lots of Driftwood and Petrified Wood. River has gone down but raining now and lots more on the way for the next week.

Took Bo out last night for the first time in a while. First hunt with the Sinker Cypress Squaller and Bo got deep and treed on a Cypress Tree in Knee Deep Water. Coon was all the way in the top. What a feeling to find him while blowing the Sinker Cypress Call while he was in the top of a Cypress. Couldn't have went any better. Tree was loaded with Vines and Ripe Muscadines were all over the muddy bank. If the rain don't Stop us, me and Bo are going every night. Time to get in shape so when we go to Illinois Bob don't make us look BAD!
