Artifact Hunting

Thanks Elmo for the kind words on BO. Hope your Pup has what it takes and makes you a nice hound, Take Care.

Thanks Tommy. We have always kept an eye out for Petrified Wood or Arrowheads, but lately we have gotten a little more serious about Native American Artifact Hunting. I will post some pictures Soon. The best things we have found lately are: Small Bowl, used for mixing face paint, Drill, used to make holes, and the Best One was found Tuesday by my Son Shane as we were winching some concrete blocks out of the River. One of the blocks, which weigh 2,000 pounds each, dragged up a STONE WHEEL. We asked on Facebook if anybody had a clue as to what it was and was told it is a CHUNKY STONE. Used as Target Practice by Indians to be able to hit a moving target. One Indian would Roll the Stone while the other shot at it. It is in Awesome Condition and has depressions on each side in the center so you can tell it was used and they hit the center a LOT. Found it 100 yards down river from the house where there is a Clay Bed that the River flows over Very Shallow and Swift. After thinking about it, that is the Only Place around that you can wade the River and its only Knee Deep All the way across. We have found Arrowheads at our Cool Pool right across the River from the house. I think the Indians used the Spring as Drinking Water from the Cool Pool and the Clay Bed as a River Crossing. So my Area should be a Hot Bed of Indian Artifacts. We have bought a few books trying to learn more about all the Artifacts that could be found in this Area. Makes me think about our time here on EARTH. These Artifacts were made by Someone, By Hand, Hundreds or Thousands of years ago and are still intact today just like the day they were made. What are we building Today that we will leave behind that will last that long? NOTHING.

INDIAN ARTIFACTS

Thanks Mark. Here are a few pictures from the past week. Bo's silhouette against the Full Moon and a Native American Artifact my son Shane found here on the River Tuesday when he was helping me Winch some things out of the River. It was drug up behind the tractor from off the bottom of the River. It is a Chunky Stone used by the Indians to practice with their Bow and Arrows at hitting a Moving Target. You can see in the Center of the Stone there are depressions where it had been hit Many Times. It is 4" in diameter and an inch and a quarter thick. Just think how long it took a pair of hands to shape this Hard Stone into the Perfect Round Shape that it is back Hundreds and Hundreds of Years ago. Makes my Accomplishments in Life seem Small. Amazing. More pictures of Artifacts to be posted time to time.

ILLINOIS TRIP

We got home at 10pm last night from our trip to Illinois to hunt and visit with Mr. Ed and Mrs. Mary. I took some nice pictures and videos at Every Tree Bo made but I can't get the first picture to upload to Photo Bucket so I will just tell the story and post pictures later. Bobbie was in heat and Bob cut the Tip of his left ear on the first drop of the first night and was bleeding so bad we put him up. Tried him the next night and it went right back to bleeding so he was put up again until Friday Nights Hunt. In the mean time we just hunted BO. He is Fat and Out of Shape and not feeling the best either But managed to make 12 trees in those 4 straight nights of Hunting and I found a Coon or Coons in every tree except ONE. And the one I didn't find the Coon was Friday night on the first drop with Bob and I think they pulled up short. Big Oak and most all trees full of leaves and it would have been circled up but I feel he wasn't there. Total of 16 Coons seen in the other 11 trees. They are So Much Easier to find up there with the leaves still on than down here. Half the Coon wouldn't look But you have open woods where you can move around and shine from a lot of spots and I lit it up with the bright light and found them All. BO was as Accurate as you could ever expect a Hound to be, even though not feeling well. He's headed to the Vet tomorrow as soon as I can get him in. Not much energy or Drive and didn't eat his feed at all today. Laid in his house shaking like he had the chills but no fever. We will run some test and see what's going on. Saw some Great Track work out of Bob and Great, Accurate Treeing out of BO. Bob has a Super Nose on him that you would have to see in action to believe. Hope Blue got his share from Daddy, looking forward to getting him started this upcoming month. We did a lot of looking around, shopping and fine eating also. Saw some nice Bucks while out at night and One Monster. He was what All Whitetail Hunters Dream of Every Night. High, Wide and Heavy, Dark Horns. Thanks to the Mauney's for having us up there and letting us stay in their Cabin. Thanks to Mr. Ed for taking me and Ole Bo around making drops and treeing coon. Thanks to Mrs. Mary for the Wonderful Food. Enjoyed ourselves but had to leave a day early because I knew BO was out of gas when the last drop I opened the Box Door and he just laid there and looked at me until I tugged on the chain. Then he disappeared into the Darkness by the Cabin and hit the tree across the Creek at 172 yards with that Beautiful Quivering Bawl locate, over and over. Him and Bob had a Double in that last tree and me and Caleb enjoyed the walk to those Brothers and the Beautiful Music they were Making. I made the decision that night that I was Not going to push BO any further. He did the Best he could all week not feeling himself from day one. Hoping he just has an infection that we can get cleared up quick. Pictures of the Hunts and Coons coming Soon, I Hope.

Sounds like you had a great time, Steve. Bryan Tate called me a couple weeks ago to ride with him up to Mr. Ed's place. I'm still regreting not being able to make the trip. Hope I have a chance again one year.

How is Bo feeling. Is that his full littermate brother you hunted with? I'm not sure on downloading videos but I know the pictures work on the inmage site.

Can you put Bo pedigree on your site. He is worth posting for guys wanting to breed to him. I can't wait to see how Kandy turns out her in Missouri country. We will give her a huge chance. I have big plans for her.

Thanks Elmo. His pedigree is on first page. We give him a baby aspirin and I had some Amoxicillin here so I give him some yesterday and he is feeling much better this morning so I'm going to hold off on vet visit and just run 7 days of that through him. These Swamps are tough in a Hound and lots of stuff to give them infections and sinus trouble. Bob is Bo's Half Brither, they are both out of Bocephus.

Picture of BO Treed, a Coon in a Tree and BO getting his Back Scratched at a Cabin we rented near Sullivan Illinois. We saw a man at a Rest Area just as we crossed the Mississippi River into Illinois and he saw BO load up into the Back Seat of the Truck. He asked me if the Hound rides up front with us, What did we have in the Dog Box? I told him Suite Cases and Duffle Bags of Course, lol! Bo is Spoiled!

Mr. Jack, Bo is feeling much better. Hunted out of the Jet Boat last night and he ended up almost a Mile from where I cut him. Coon wasn't moving early with that bright Moon.

Thanks Gary. Funny thing about Bo is, if you put him on a bench to strike a pose he will slump down on you but if you scratch his back he will stand on his toes Proud, lol! Spoiled!

Elmo, she is a Good Looking Pup and I wish you the best with her. Bo was 7 months old when he started a little and 8 months old treeing his on easy coon. Good Luck with her.

He turned 6 months old yesterday and I took him to the Vet today for his Vaccines and Checkup. I knew he was BIG but my Gosh, I didn't know he was 65 POUNDS BIG!! Going to be a Monster and built like a Race Horse!! I will see if I can get him on some good tracks for a few short drops each week over the next couple months. He has Never seen a Live Coon and I don't feel he will have to. I see ALL NATURAL in this one. Time will tell.

TREE BLUE!!!

From the Top Picture, To the Middle and Bottom Picture in 5 MONTHS. Bogue Chitto Blue Lone Survivor was picked up from Mr. Jacks at the age of 5 weeks old. Wednesday he turned 6 months old. He treed on a drag at 3 months old with a Desire and Hate that was Natural, I knew right then he was going to make my Job Easy. I was Right. He has treed 3 turnouts and worked a track several hundred yards tonight but didn't get hooked. He is going to make a good one. When they BRED RIGHT, Pictures like this are easy to get and they make you look like the Worlds Greatest Trainer. When, In Reality, I'm just the Photographer and Rifleman. Video's Coming Soon.

BLUE'S Pedigree

Here you go, Elmo. Blue is off BOB that I had here for a while until my Back got me down and I couldn't hunt him so I sold my half back to Mr. Ed. Mr. Jack had made the trip with me to Illinois last year and saw BOB in action for several nights. Treeing Coon by himself and with Mr. Jacks nice hound, Smoke, and Mr. Ed's gyp, Bobbie. Bobs Dam. Mr. Jack bred his fine Dual Gr. Sheba to Bob and we each wanted a female pup. She had a bunch but had problems and Blue is the only pup that survived, thus the name, Bogue Chitto Blue Lone Survivor. I like him a LOT and hope to have him treeing Coons fairly regular over the next couple months. But like I said, He is a Natural and I just have taught him how to lead and load which were also easy to do. He was Born wanting to Tree Coons and Naturally Hating them. No Encouragement needed. I will take him along at the pace I feel he needs for his young age and try to control the situation as much as possible. I feel in 3 months he will be treeing Coon on a regular basics. Bob has a Super Nose and hoping he passed it on to Blue. Sheba is one of the Finest Hounds Mr. Jack has ever had. Hoping she passed all of her Qualities on also. High Hopes for this Big Pup.

Go to page 61 and 62 Elmo and you can read all about Bob when I was hunting him this time last year. MR. Ed made the cross of Bobbie on Bocephus, half brother sister cross. I think there are 4 males from that litter, no females. They turned 2 on June 26th this year, same birthday as my Bo but 2 years younger, half brothers. One of Bob's littermate brothers is a Gr. Nt. in Kentucky, another I believe is Nt. Ch. with wins to Gr. Nt. in Wisconsin. Bob and one other are just now being hunted right and both are fine hounds just need to be in the right hands. Bob was runner up in the Young Guns Shootout this year at Bluetick Days. Bob was started by Jason Myers in Alabama and just when Jason had Bob treeing his on easy coon his work schedule changed and Bob sat for several months. I went and got him and had him looking really good last fall but I got hobbled with back trouble and Bob wasn't getting hunted much so Mr. Ed came and got him in the Spring. He is going to Finish into a Top Hound if someone will just stay with him and keep him in the woods. The 2 setbacks wasn't any fault of his and just when he needed pushing he wasn't getting hunted much at all. That hurts a hound.

Mark that's what Mr. Ed told me. When I told him where I stayed on Monday night outside of Sullivan, he said I was within a half mile of your house probably. We stayed at Coyote Cabins, I think it was County Line Road 1000. Would have loved to come by and visited and checked out your hounds and that Crawfish Cooker you built. Hoping to come back soon and if so we will look you up.

BLUE

Tree Blue, Again! Blue treed on Another Coon up a Turkey Pine off a Feeder one morning. I left him to run again. Blue is ever more a tree dog and besides missing by one tree on one turnout, he has been deadly accurate on the others. Can't let him run loose any more, he don't want to play, he's looking to go get treed somewhere. Will be hunting him several nights this week off the feeders or in the area. Trying to keep him on good Coon Tracks and keep him headed in the right direction. Mason was here this morning and at 8am we had 6 Deer in the yard, 3 Bucks and a Doe with 2 Little Ones. 35 yards from the Kennel with BO, my Deer Alarm, Bugger Barking at them. They paid him no mind, just kept eating the young, tender Buck Busters Grass. Then we rode up the Sand Bar and saw 3 Bobcats Running and Jumping in some sage grass. We watched them for several minutes and I got a Video before they left out. I believe they were hunting for Mice in the grass. Told Mason he was lucky seeing All those Deer And the Bobcats that late in the morning and getting to watch them for a while. Will be some fresh, stuffed, smoke sausage Soon!
