I know he's a good lookin' cuss but...how did he sound and act otherwise?

I know he had made a lot of progress over the last several months and I guess I wouldn't mind seeing him standing out back with the rest

Visit

Tom,

It was great seeing you again. We had a nice time visiting with you, Pastor Mike, Buck & Jason. Kyle really enjoyed seeing all your coon dogs.

Sincerely,

Jason & Kyle Schmitt

He has a big bawl mouth on track like his daddy but he does not roll over to a chop when he trees yet. It may come but I don't know. I have never seen a bawl mouth T-Top tree dog. He needs a lot of hunting. He is barely started. There are already 2 extra nice pups from that litter. Do you think that Moose can sire 3 from one litter? I hope to see one tied up behind my house pretty soon. I just need to sell Tom Tom first. Where are the updates? I left my phone in Rex's truck so I can't get any phone calls! How is the Va Cartel doing? Rex and I treed 41 coons this past week at Andy's

Griz can throw bawls at the tree. He threw a lot of bawls when he was younger. He tells on himself how confident he is. If he is throwing bawls, he is gambling. The more confident he is, the less bawls he throws with the chops. When he is hammering away, load the gun.

I am getting itchy to find out how the weekend is going in Wisconsin.

Richard-

Dozer treed his own again on Friday night, huge locate, rolled it over to a steady chop and had the meat. He's starting to really put it together.

This is actually Jason. We had a good night last night. Had some good dog work and treed a few coon. Joe got split one and Chick got split once. Buck and Tom made it to several of the trees. Dave Mike and I took a long trek to the top of one of the tall ridges. Scott Brown made the trip yesterday and he was along last night as well.
I guess all those miles Buck put in are doing him some good. Tom will post some pictures later on. He is watching the Packers right now.

Dave, that is great. He just needs some experience or as Tom says "repetitions". What has the Va Cartel done to poor Ol' Tom? Jason, I didn't know that Joe would split tree and hold pressure already! It sounds like he is ready for competition. Was that a "long trek" by Virginia standards or Wisconsin standards? Watch out or you will get spoiled up there. We treed 6-15 coons a night last week. I went here last night and never saw a coon. I am already looking for somewhere to go next week.

??????????? You remend me of a girl that I used to know. She was a real tease! The Va Cartel has been up there for 4 nights now.

King Richard

Yeah, what's the hold up? Tom promised me in a few earlier posts that I could watch the hunt through photos. So far I have only got to see one shot of Griz on Dave's phone. lol More than likely, there are so many photos, that Tom is having a hard time deciding which ones to upload.

Update

No better way to spend a few days of hunting than with the crew I've spent time with since Friday night. Friday night was a pretty good night even though the guys drove a long ways on that day and the dogs were hauled over 17 hours on the road. We decided to go out and see what kind of trouble we could get into anyway...and...

What better way to start the night...

Frog, Griz & Chick...

Frog...

Chick..

Griz, Frog and Chick...

I'm going to post again so I don't overload this thread but it was a lot of action over these last few nights with over 30 coons treed so far...and that includes one less than desirable night where nothing seemed to go right from blow downs to holes to culverts...oh well...

More to come.

Update 2

On Saturday night, we treed 11 coons before we gave out and called it quits...it was a good night with good dog work and on a night about as nice as it can get...stars hanging low and calm...beautiful...

This is Frog and Griz...

Griz and Frog...

Gun getting in on the action...

Gun and Yank...

Joe, Frog and Chick...

Once again, I'm going to stop and make another post...lots of action and lots of photos...it was a great time to this point and times I'll remember for a long time to come...

We had lots of action and getting all the photos organized and posted took a little time

These photos are from 4 nights of hunting but one of those nights we were camera shy and Dave and the boys didn't take any pictures on a good night where they treed 8 coons and where Yank got his ears shredded...again...

This is Joe and Yank...

Joe & Frog...

Yank & Frog..

Last night was a special night with some action that was special in a lot of ways. It was one of those nights where the dogs had to work hard to make a tree with the dry conditions in the woods but at the end of the night...we dumped on a small spring bed and Frog and Chick started a track that Yank and Gun joined in on...and hour and a half later and after some of the best and most exciting dog work I've seen...they caught the coon on the ground and the fight and action over those next several minutes was a rush...I didn't get any pictures but I know that Mike got some good video and maybe some pictures...it was too fast and furious. I'll be posting pictures tomorrow of that coon...a 29 pound boar that represented himself pretty well and will be in our memories forever...

More to come...

More to come...

Training day

We had a little time yesterday to do some training with some young and green dogs.

In these pictures we have Douke, Dagger, Cricket, Fuzzy and a female pup I don't have a name for yet...she's just 6 months old.

Douke has an orange collar on with a white reflector stripe. Dagger has a blue collar with the reflector stripe. Fuzzy has the solid blue collar on. Cricket has the green collar on and the female pup has the yellow collar. I should have posted that information...sorry about that.

Douke is a litter mate sister to Yank and she has become about as intense after a coon as she can get. She has gone from wondering what the world has in store to wanting to dive in and take hold of anything that comes.

Dagger is out of Douke and Ace and he's a very nice prospect. He's built the way I like them, long legs and carries no extra weight...long and lean...so to speak. He is very intense and will be going to the woods as much as we can get him out there.

Cricket is Mike's female, brought along to see what her interest level is...she did real well on this session.

Fuzzy is going to Virginia to take up his new career, he's a good prospect also and should do well.

The little female pup is just starting training but she has a great motor and a wonderful personality. She gets after a coon like a big dog and will be ready to to her new home any day.

I like messing with green or young dogs...nothing better.

Gun and Dagger

Tom I sure like the pictures of Dagger there with the teeth showing. The pictures you posted before of Gun sure looked good too. Buck said he sure liked what he saw in Gun. I think Ace will be a real reproducer in time if people use him. Gun and Dagger even have the Dark color as do most of the pups out of Ace with big mouths. Here Dagger is at 4 months treeing with the lips rolled back. T-Top at it's best I think. Dave
